Yea, if you ignore athletic traits such as coordination and reaction time. I was always pretty strong and fast, but still not very good at sports no matter the effort I put in.
@TheSprintProject_
@TheSprintProject_ Год назад
Never should ignore those traits, which can be developed using this concept and training in your sweet spot. Becoming a .001% athlete is another story. No doubt, genetics play a big role, especially the closer you you get to the world class level.
@Blobbyo25
@Blobbyo25 Год назад
Coordination can always be improved. You don't think the best football players practice for hours and hours each day to improve their technique???
@jesseshaver2262
@jesseshaver2262 Год назад
@@Blobbyo25 they do, but I think their is a much larger genetic component, and many people will peak that aspect very early, and it won’t be a high ceiling
@tjcogger1974
@tjcogger1974 Год назад
@@jesseshaver2262 The most trainable athletic traits are coordination, conditioning, and strength. Of course everyone has a different genetic ceiling, but unless you're trying to be world class, your genetic ceiling is irrelevant. If your sports-specific coordination sucks, you just haven't practiced your sport enough. Simple as that. Some people are blessed to be 1% athletes from birth. Other people have to work much harder for it. But I guarantee that you haven't even come close to maxing-out your peak potential. Especially when it comes to sport-specific technique and coordination.
@Messup7654
@Messup7654 Год назад
@@jesseshaver2262your putting WAYYY too much emphasis on genetics coordination is the most skillful training potential trait ever omg when you realize how much training can increase skill and how genetics are much less you will be amazed

For middle distance training, I have a 2 week cycle ( because most meets should be around 2 weeks for 800/mile/steeplechasers, any sooner risks injury/fatigue ). A hard week, an easier week leading up to race day. In those weeks alternating Hard, easy, medium days, with one rest day on the hard week, two on the easier week. Recovery time is very important as you have pointed out.
