The OChain active spider has been around for a couple of years now, and I was lucky enough to get one quite early after they launched in the UK. I bought it with my own money, and these are my honest, and unbiased opinions.
In short..... this is a game changer. My bike is smoother, quieter, calmer under braking, and I think; faster.
If you are looking to purchase an OChain, then use the link below (UK only) and make sure you buy the correct option for your crankset. You will also need a 104 bcd chainring. I use a 32 tooth ring.

Let me know in the comments if you have any questions about the OChain.

Just went on my maiden ride with the Ochain this morning. Noticeable improvement in rear suspension feel, especially on steep, repeated braking bump sections. Quieter/calmer feel in the feet. I'm sold on the ochain.

Nice. It is hard to go back once you ride it. Glad you like it.

Not sure I understand why it's this costly.

Makes sense. Motorcycles have been running this system in the rear sprockets for decades for the very same reason. And I'd bet XC riders would find an advantage, too, because the old adage "smoothest is fastest" is always true.

I didn't know that about motorbikes. Does it also help to prevent the rear wheel locking on down shifts or is that different?

That's not true. The rubbers under streetbike rearsprockets should reduce the hit of momentum during shiftig.

Which hub/freewheel with how many grid points do you use? Thanks

Nukeproof Horizon wheels. I don't know how many points of engagement it has. To be honest I think that the whole quick engagement thing is all just marketing nonsense! Just my opinion though. B

Sounds interesting. It's nice that its tunable. I myself recently switched my aluminum pedals to nylon pedals to dampen jolts to my feet and legs.

OK, not heard of people doing that before. Can you feel a difference, even though both have metal axles?

@@thestrengthfactory. I definitely notice a difference. The pedals are "Rockbros". I picked them up off ebay for around $20. A little background on why I chose nylon pedals. I was struggling at times on my favorite loop trail ( I basically ride cross country) with some rooty rocky climbs that require a couple of down shifts to clean. Sometimes when the down shifts where too harsh the jolt could bounce my footing and I would lose momentum ( and balance) and miss the climb. Switching to the nylon pedals seems to have attenuated the negative forces; solving the problem with footing, not to mention the added comfort they provide. I don't know if they would benefit you beyond what the "O- chain" is providing you with already. Perhaps I've discovered the poor man's: "O-chain". :)

Not worth that much money!

Yeah, it's a lot, but apart from upgrading the rider I can't think of a bigger upgrade to speed and control for the same amount of money.
