From fighting Generals to Judges, Amina Masood Janjua has become a voice for families of missing persons after her husband went missing in 2005. On the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, here is her story of fighting the authorities to end the enforced disappearances.

I was 20 years old when I first read about Amina Masood Janjua's struggle and I am 35 now! The strength, the calm, the pain, the anguish is all evident in her expressions! What an Iron Lady! The pain the Janjua family had to go through and is still going through is unexplainable! I remember IK promising to assist her, if he ever came to power ...nothing but unfulfilled and false promises! I pray to Allah tala to ease their pain and reunite the Janjuas with their father! With every hardship comes ease, is His promise!

My Cousin went missing on his wedding day (Barat) since 2005 June. Amina Masood gave us a hope that we might see our brother again. I can say without any doubt that This Lady is has more courage than our sitting Prime Minister because he cannot even talk about those black sheeps in our country. I hope she stays safe in a war against some Khalai Makhlooq.

My Mamu was a captain in Pakistan Army.He led operation against MQM in 90's.But he left army after that. He was missing from Islamabad since just 4 months aftet leaving army. in 1997. Was going to library to return some Books on his bike and never come back. He doesnt even took his wallet with him that evening.

@@honorhonor3352 What you want that security agencies should go to court or to police station first and get a arrest warrant first that this person is financing terrorism now we want to arrest him ?? Our system is full of corrupts, if they follow this way then someone from police or administration will leak this info to the suspect and he will run away. Dr Usman who was caught on the spot of GHQ attack, was released from Jail by our courts because they didn't find any evidence of him involving in terrorism. This is our system. Now some one have to save our state. In ARMY Act it is already mentioned that for any National Security issue our agencies can arrest anyone from anywhere, CJ Iftikhar Chaudhary did a publicity stunt by taking Suo motto on this issue. He was a puppet of Nawaz Shareef.

If you could establish someone's connection with anti state activities in secrecy then you would definitely have the means to get the evidence. Obviously you would have some evidence or arguments on basis of which you lable him anti state,then what's the problem in arresting such person through police and provide evidence to police to make a truthful case against such person because who wouldn't differ not to punish anti state elements if it's proved in court of law. But definitely there are some hidden secrets or something under the carpets which isn't revealed to save someone's so they are disappeared from the planet and the worst part is to threaten families and relatives. This is act of cowards. Whereas our religion ordered to spare women and children even during war when enmity is at its highest, how could a Muslim kalma go belonging to an institution could do such a shameful,illegal, immoral, unethical act of threatening a helpless family with not only life threats but shameless threats as she mentioned.this practice of disappearing people should be stopped now because it doesn't strengthen but lessen your credibility and illegal act which you do against your own people, don't you fear that one day you have to be answerable in front of Allah for your deeds and then you wouldn't be able to escape by saying that i acted upon that person order or he was anti state because in our religion given by Allah every human has been given right to defend himself and going against it means going against Allah.

These are the fruits of Musharraf. These are the people the agencies used to sell to US intelligence for 5K$ / person (also mentioned in Musharraf’s book) Some people died during the War on Terror Torture, some ppl were found innocent, and were abandoned by the US black sites, those were the scapegoats that the Pakistani intelligence agencies would use for convictions for various crimes that the agencies couldn’t catch or find suspects. Thanks to this lady , people registered missing loved ones the day they were picked up, so when they were presented in court for a crime ( like attempting to blow up a market place) the judge would dismiss the case , because on that day and time there were in intelligence custody. These all crimes were committed by the CIA faction within Pakistani intelligence agencies, and because of these people, terrorism only increased in the country.

I have sympathy for all missing persons but you didn’t mention why they were held captive. As you have met with different peoples and they should have told you the reason for this act , so we can understand the myth behind missing persons . Without any reason how they are held captive ?? I don’t want to offend anyone but this is my personal thought

The justice for all these people, including, the armymen, who were picked up on Musharaf's whim, starts with bringing that abhorrent, ignoble person and bringing him to a court of law. That will be Pakistan's biggest message to the powers that be, that Pakistan is unwilling to tow their line.

sorry to say that my brother was picked up by military as well but he was guilty and i know and i believe that anyone missing right now are all guilty....at least agencies of Pakistan will never picked a wrong person.....
