This Year's Grade Of Dungeness Crabs Are Huge 

The were the biggest limits that I’ve ever gotten. Thanks.

7” Dungeness crabs are really big for recreational Fishermans. Normally we’d get the minimum at 5-3/4” to 6” only. There are places from shore you can get them in bodega bay. Maybe you might want to give it a shot one day. Bakers beach is a good spot to use crab snare for some.

​@@fishingaddict5638 Yeah as I thought. You'd know sizes well for Dungeness. Those look like more than size enough for excellent eating. Something about eating food you've caught you know? You cannot keep Dungeness crab from anywhere in SF Bay. It has to be in the ocean or the closest place to the bay is Bodega Bay at the mouth.

@@fishingaddict5638 Ahhh ok thanks a ton! I could have possibly got in trouble. Trying to remember Crab you can get from the Bay's. Perhaps Rock Crab... no worries I'll look into it. But yea you all had one SWEET day crab'in!

@chiemnguyen, I just read through section 29.80 to 29.85 a couple of time and did not see it mentioned about the crab gauge. All I see it talks about is the minimum length. Can you please point out where it is. Maybe I still missed it even reading it a couple of times. Thanks.

@@fishingaddict5638 game wardens stop by a few times and they let us know. I was asking them the same question you did. Just pass on what I know and try to help someone stay out of unintended trouble. You make that call.

@@fishingaddict5638, hey brother so what I found in section 29.05 under C, was that an accurate measuring device will be required to accurately measure for minimum legal size. Now with that said, and with my experiences with fish and game, I have found that if the law is a bit on the gray side, the last thing you want is to try to argue with a fish and game officer, they will just tell you that you are wrong, and they will give you a ticket anyways, which you will have to appear at court for, and I have not heard of ticket being under $300.00, so it just comes down to do you want to take that chance!

Rule book does not say “crab gauge” it says “accurate measuring device”. A ruler is accurate as it gets.
