Hardly temporary. If you use proper coolant or distilled water, it should last for a good few years. It's also done here in the Philippines, but not as good as that, imo.
@@JM-yx1lm The last Sears Catalog was 30 years ago, Sears is also no longer in business. In Cicero IL, there are still places that will re-core your radiator.

I worked in a radiator shop years ago, and even with heavy gloves and aprons, the guys doing the repairs still always ended up with elevated levels of lead in their blood.

@@Mihail.Ivanov.163
Such incredible work given the conditions and tools available, very good to see so much raw materials being reused unlike with todays throw away society.
In a 1st world country where you actually get payed what you're worth ( you'd think) this is unviable, spend 4 hours cleaning and repairing a radiator at £100 an hour when a new radiator is cheaper?
In my country we still do repairs like this, specially for trucks and farm equipment, but lately the Chinese have started bringing their 2 year lifespan rads for very cheap and getting rad shops out of business….
It's the cost of labor, paying a man three or more hours to do something like this costs more than buying a new one, that's why you don't see that kind of stuff here.
Haha, this brought back memories. My parents bought a house in the late 70's with baseboard radiators, essentially a copper pipe with aluminum fins, about 2" square and 1/8" apart, that ran around the exterior walls of the house. Hot water ran through the pipe and gave off heat. The radiators had covers over them, but these were flimsy and many, if not most, of the fins were pushed flat on the sides facing inwards. My mother and I spent days, using pairs of putty knives, straightening fins. Good times, but you couldn't pay me enough to do it for someone else!

All aluminum radiators are all metal too and are quite the norm today. But yes copper/brass radiators are becoming things of the past. I'm a radiator repairman and I work on all radiators regardless of what their made of. 👍
That maybe wont Work. Newer Cars has Radiators made of Plastic and Aluminium. The Salt eaten up the Aluminium or the Plastic cracks. These newer Junk is not worth the repair. Greetings from Germany. Z 😉
Yes! I was thinking about this a couple of days ago. When I was a teenager I remember taking the radiator of my old car to a shop that did repairs and leak testing. I haven’t seen one of those shops in over twenty years.
I was a student in south east asia and I remember taking my old pickup truck to a radiator "shop" like this on the side of the road. I just saw a wooden painted sign that said radiator repair. and that was that. I never had to top off the water after that it was leak free. Now the radiators are all plastic and aluminium. We act like we're moving forward with all our technological advances but we're just creating Tons of waste with products that last a couple years and end up in landfills.
Yeah, my town once had 7 radiator shops , now I own the only radiator shop around for over hundred miles around. I'm always busy getting work from all over the state, but only cause I don't have any competition anymore. Lol.

That's intentional. One reason is; the guy in this video didn't pay a company for a new radiator. When they are cheaply manufacturered, he has to. The company making them isn't responsible for their disposal - we get a very polluted Earth that way.

These people have a greater mechanical understanding of how these parts are constructed and how they should operate than the original engineers I dare to speculate. It’s amazing how the necessity of their situation has lead to such great craftsmanship.
You must be kidding ;) Instead of making stuff up, just say he did the job. Note, how he cleans the radiator with concentrated acid without gloves and eye protection, and the other guy rinses hands in the wastewater. The criminal negligence of the personal safety, is typical in the region.
@@rhapak What you mean? For example in country where I live no point to remanufacture old parts, because cheaper to buy brand new or remanufactured parts.
Whatever is put in front of these young men, they will do it very well, with little resources. Great job! I thought wow that radiator looks brand new except for the fins that were pushed in… until they went through each one and fixed it..🤯. The man standing behind them across the street at 1:35 must be the owner…. 😳
no he is just someone standing there. mostly here owners don't spend time standing there to see what they are doing rather they just leave the thing and go away to do something else. and repair shops here are small and not enough space to let people sit. so all of them are either mechanics or repairman working there.
