Do you think the lubing the U4Ts made that bug of a difference in terms of sound I heard they were just as good stock
@gelcam100
@gelcam100 3 года назад
I definitely think lubing made a huge difference for me! Well, I tend to lube and film all of my switches, no matter how tight the housings are or how good the factory lubing is just because i like doing it haha! But it made more of a huge difference for me when it comes to the feel of the switch as i found the bump to be too intense stock. I lubed the legs for this specific batch just to tone down the tactility a little bit! In terms of sound, I think filming made more of a difference as they sound more solid now compared to its stock form. I also found that the bottom out sound to be deeper when I lubed them! Hope this helps :)
@jonathanleonard9507
@jonathanleonard9507 3 года назад
how does this compare to the 68g variant? also there is a rgb version of these, do you think the clear housing will affect the sound by a lot? Does the 62g reduce the tactility in anyway ?
@RitzyBusiness
@RitzyBusiness Год назад
This is an old comment, but I thought ide chime in. 62g has a slightly stronger downstroke tactility, slightly weaker on the upstroke. It is very slight, but what's not slight is how much lighter 62g feels compared to 68 despite such a small difference. My favorite u4ts are with two stage springs, 80g flash quark 2 stage was the most tactile on both up and down stroke. It felt more responsive on the upstroke as well since it springs back quicker. As for sound I have no opinion, I only care about feel.

@gelcam100
@gelcam100 2 года назад
Heya! In terms of how deep the switches sound, there isn't really much of a difference, and even if there is, it's probably unnoticeable! Maybe just for the 68g, it could possibly tend to be a little higher-pitched because of the faster upclack/return compared to the lighter spring, but then again it could be a very small difference that the ears wouldn't probably hear it. Although the lubing method would play a big role in this. If you want it to sound a bit deeper, I suggest lubing the top housings where the stem rails hit as this is what usually causes the high-pitched clack on some switches. As for hand size, I don't think any of these would matter as they wouldn't really make a difference with whatever you get. But when it comes to hand strength, if you want something that wouldnt really strain your hands too much (unless youre used to cherry mx blacks/black inks), then get the 62g! Hope this helps!

Hmm removing PCB foam... Seems like a decent idea actually. Maybe if putting on noisier switches like HPs then the foam might help in dampening. But a pretty tacky sound of bobas could be amplified. Gd suggestion 👍🏻 Great vid too btw!!

@gelcam100
@gelcam100 3 года назад
I did have some issues with the stabs at first! The GOAT Stabs were terrible, and lubing them didn't do the job so I had to replace them with GMK Stabs since my Durock V2s werent fitting properly. But even with the GMK, I still had to force it to fit the plate and it scratched the sides of the stabilizers. However, it made a huge difference and typing on it feels and sounds so much better!
@joseolmedoa.919
@joseolmedoa.919 3 года назад
You can just add a tiny amount of lube on the sides and it will go in with much ease. I'm using the gold bronze with durock stabs. Easy fit.

@bloopbop8825
@bloopbop8825 3 года назад
I would say these are a tad bit better in my opinion because the v2’s kinda are a bit loose but not everyone has that issue and if that’s not a risk than it just depends on how thocky you like it cus like every switch has its own unique thock, you can also check out novelkey dry yellows, they also get pretty thocky

bro, just noticed that you have a tofu60 as well. which do you prefer when it comes to sound/typing feel? I have a gmmk pro as well but I haven't built it yet as I'm still waiting for my switches. can't decide between the two
@gelcam100
@gelcam100 3 года назад
GMMK Pro definitely. Well, they’re two really different boards, so it would really depend on one’s preference to say the least. I would prefer the GMMK Pro because I like a typing experience that’s in between soft and stiff, if that’s even a thing (?) and i feel like that’s exactly what the board gives me. I used to have an ID80 and I really noticed how much stiffer an integrated plate it compared to this, even if the “gasket” mounting isn’t really well-executed. Given that the Tofu60 uses a tray mount, i find it really stiff and unequal just because of how it’s mounted on the board with the screws securing it to the case even with a polycarbonate plate. Wasn’t a huge fan of the typing experience on that. In terms of sound, I like the GMMK Pro more. Although the gaskets didn’t do much in terms of feel, i believe it made the sound much more equal. I heard some people complaining on how it’s pretty muted and linears could sound the same, and I honestly see where that can come from. I’m currently using it with the PCB foam removed and it honestly made the sound much more vibrant! Made it better in that aspect imo.
@davieslm
@davieslm 3 года назад
@@gelcam100 This is a good question. I have spent a fortune on my Tofu60 with Tealios V2 and Boba U4T switches and I am struggling to get it sounding decent. I like look of the GMMK Pro and I am thinking about preordering one and if it sounds nicer than an optimised TOFU60 then this would be good.
