Ghost Train was an absolutely amazing episode. It was so good in fact I personally have memories where I was so scared out of my mind that I would flat out refuse to watch the disk I had it on. On top of that, with my vivid imagination, it was one of the only two episodes I actually had a nightmare about, the other being Duncan gets spooked. Such an insanely good episode. They really shot it outta the park with that one.
I couldn’t agree more homie, if it was dark outside and that was the VHS I put in it had to get skipped otherwise I wouldn’t sleep that night- 😭 NOT EVEN because of Percy or anything just that opening music that would stain my brain haha
As an adult who had a TTTE hyper focus months ago and wanted to get back into the series, I'm so grateful that your channel exists! I love the information and the way it's presented. You've made me appreciate things about the show that I didn't as a kid, like the Narrow Gauge engines! Thank you for making content and reminding me how cool it is to be a Thomas fan :D
honestly you and Unlucky Tug's essay like structure content is legit some of the most helpful content on this site to listen to to just let my brain relax and focus on writing.
That discussion about Thomas during the Ghost Train segment just highlights that in Wilbert's books; Thomas was generally always and asshole. It wasn't until season 3 when they started adapting magazine stories and making new ones that he became nicer.
Personally, I don't think it's that Thomas doesn't care about Percy, I think it's that early Thomas is very prideful, and is doing that 20th century man thing where you aren't allowed to show you feel emotions like fear or sadness. So he hears that Percy's had a terrible accident, and he plays tough to hide the fact that he's actually worried, probably assuming Toby's just being silly, Percy's just derailed and needs to go to the works, and that the fat controller will obviously have him repaired. Then he sees Percy's "ghost", and instantly goes "oh fuck, he's actually dead. OH FUCK, I've been an asshole and he's going to haunt me forever!" Also, while I wouldn't call Snow one of the greatest, I would certainly say that it was great. Definitely in the top 100 episodes, probably in the top 50, but not in the top 10.
Tbh, my personal take on Thomas and Percy's relationship is that it took a long while for them to warm up to each other, and it didn't help that Thomas was a cheeky prick alongside the fact that he was likely feeling big headed and overly prideful of his branchline. I like to think that somewhere near the end of season 5, they began to get along.
Honestly, when i was little, sitting on the living room couch, watching nick jr, i would always hide behind my couch and ask my parents to switch the channel. And thats why i slept in my parents room till i was 7, because of the scene where percy slowly opens the door because i was scared percy was gonna get me
When I was a kid, I never really noticed the difference in Thomas’s character all that much but as I got older, I can see the difference as Thomas acts rather negative. I won’t lie though when I still felt bad for Thomas but that’s probably me being biased at remembering the kind blue tank engine I grew up watching as a kid. However, this is definitely one of the most spooky episodes from this era of Thomas. A far cry from the bouncing, chuggington-like, Thomas we see today.
There were only two episodes that scared the absolute s*** out of me back then, Ghost Train was one of them. Duncan Gets Spooked was infinitely more terrifying but Ghost Train was still pretty scary.
Has anyone ever had any Thomas toys when they were little and Didn't even know I was looking at old photos when I was like 8 and I saw me playing with a golden bear Thomas I DONT EVEN REMEMBER HAVING ONE
I’m still looking to crack a face for the little guy, it wouldn’t make much sense to use a plain AEG face so one has to be made and printed/ sculpted 😅 Once that’s ready it’ll probably pick back up
