Nice essay Ryan, I didn't know much about Disch. I'm going to be reading On the Wings of Song soon because its in the series I'm doing. I've found a few of his other books too, so I'm now eager to check him out. Thanks.

Thank you! I haven’t read on the wings of song yet so I’ll be looking forward to hearing about that as well. Thanks for watching!!

You camouflaged this video with such excellence that it took me two days and a posting on Instagram to realize that this thumbnail of an elderly man is actual Viking content … Honestly, I haven’t heard about this author before I started watching your channel. I normally know my way around literature, even some not so well known foreign authors, and I knew the Toaster, but wasn’t aware of Mr. Dishs writing. His connection to Philip K. Dick makes him even more interesting for me, since Dick is probably my favorite Scifi author of all time … knowing very well that as a person, he was very difficult to cope with and a very troubled man. Still not sure what the Genocides and Camp Concentration are about, I’m sensing a theme here but I could be wrong. But I will definitely check it out. Thanks for presenting some not so well known authors we could discover!

Thank you! Disch definitely had some interesting interactions with PKD. Genocides is a alien invasion/end of the world type novel. It mostly follows what happens to a small pocket of people. It is a very good story. Camp concentration is set during the Vietnam war era and explores experimentation on humans. I haven’t read it yet but that’s the little bit I took from reading the synopsis. Thanks for watching!!

Awesome! Loved this and would enjoy hearing about more authors you enjoy. If you were to recommend a first book for someone new to Disch which one would you go with?

Thanks! I would say the genocides is a great one to start with. Camp concentration is one that he won some awards with but I haven’t started it yet. 334 is a dystopian novel to try if you like that setting.
