Plot Twist: Abraham De Lacy, Guiseppe Casey, and Thomas O'Malley were the names of his previous owners. Either he outlived them or he was abandoned thrice before deciding that he would just be an alley cat. His personality as a slick, almost player-like character, may have been a combination of their demeanor he adopted. How do I figure? It's just a fun little thesis... I mean, separated into three people, they sound like they're from different origins ranging from French to Irish surnames. Either he had one sociopath of an owner beforehand that named him, or these names were something he took from three potential owners in the past.
It might make sense. I was going to say that the first owner must’ve been at least partly if not all the way Jewish. Maybe the first one was a Jewish homeless guy, or at least a Jewish Taylor. The second one is an Italian playboy, very rich. Maybe he was the brother of the lady who owned Thomas. And the last one must’ve been an Irish pub owner or something like that but he must’ve been really old and then he died and there was no one left to take care of him, so he became an alley cat.

@@dongysakura418 it's about Romeo that arrived in Paris from Rome by hitchhiking, and it deals with the cool side of being a free spirit, and wherever Romeo goes everyone loves him. Actually I think that the original version is better because the lyrics are cleverer and funnier. The Italian version has a very nice dub with a funny Roman dialect, that I think it's a good compensation for the Irish one.
Oh My Gosh! I used to watch this so much as a kid and I just figured out he was saying his full name! Well, come to think of it, as a toddler I was still learning English and we had the Spanish version at home... I barely understood what was going on in most movies I watched back then anyway...

Well, in all actuality the line "some cute I happened to meet" does not necessarily refer to an animal on this and likely is a play on words here as it can be used as a way to describe someone, as was common for people in the life style of Thomas, for example calling someone a "cool cat"

Id have to say O'Malley then probably Dutchess. O'Malley has a loveable rascal thing going on but he's also clearly a family man and dad material, I mean he saves Marie like three times in the few hours after he meets her and isn't at all phased by the kids except for a momentary "gosh, 3 kids" thing. He is willing to take on all three of them as his pretty quickly. Then Dutchess who is just a very sweetie girl, she clearly loves her children and I like that she is honest with them, and the fact that she doesn't want Madame to be alone and is willing to go back to her without Thomas even though she has fallen in love is very nice of her

Too bad they cancelled the planed sequel for this movie. John Goodman who voiced Phill Harris other character Baloo in the sequel of The Jungle Book could have voiced O'Malley just as good as Harris.
When you think about it, John Goodman is the only living actor who can come close to replicating Phil Harris’ voice. But what about when John is no longer with us, who’s gonna do his voice? Now I’m sad thinking about THAT 😢😂
In the italian version the characters is changed.. he is Romeo the best of Coliseum and he is from Rome and He speak roman slang :) ... he is a Cult but the Irish Thomas O Malley is ordinary.
