I have to say “Tommy Shelby turns his back a lot against his enemies because he’s so confident he couldn’t be killed” I think Tommy turns his back because he doesn’t care if he dies.
the advantage of being in ww1, after that getting ptsd and suicidal thoughts and being raised by gangster environment and constantly taking various drugs to feel calmer like morphium alcohol cigarettes
yeah I always felt like Oswald was Tommy equal in dominant body language. In fact I always felt like tommy struggled to take control in their conversations.
@@1STMAN Luca Changretta made Tommy terrified. When his gun was out of bullet and Luca showed up in his own office. That’s the first time I saw Tommy being afraid and fear in his eyes. I feel like Luca was the best villain of Peaky Blinders. Should have stayed for atleast two seasons. Didn’t deserve to die like that.
@@shahzaman365 Mussolini and his black shirts slaughtered the Italian mafia and that’s what they fled to America lol, so I doubt you will see them again
Being a Female. I've learned alot of male body language, like the Alpha Male and beta male. And how our reactions are primitive. When I learnt about how women physically give the green light to men when they are interested I've realised I've also done this myself but obviously without knowing. I find it very interesting and thank you for teaching and explaining.😊
Frankly speaking this distinction between alfa and beta are not that accurate actually... What makes you think a person is same his entire life, a moment it takes to make a man 'beta' to 'alfa' or 'alfa' to 'beta'... None is a 100% alfa or a 100% beta
@@akashhazarika2782 I didn't mean for the whole male population I just meant in general to help see men LIKE him or the behaviour at least in some. Sorry I didn't specify enough.😊
@@1STMAN Obviously you've already covered the one meeting with Tommy but two main scenes come to mind: The first meeting with Tommy(where he tastes the whiskey) and the scene where they address the 'bakers'.
I love how Oswald shows his superiority. Since he lives in an environment where everyone is an "alpha", his life is about standing out from the alphas. And his way to do it can be described with this statement: "I can sit like a little girl and still I'm mightier than you.". He does this by a system that you may know from school in physical education/sport. If someone is way better than everyone else, he often proposes settings like everyone against him or similar. In this legendary scene, Oswald enters the room in such a setting. But then he makes up some space for attack, just to close it shortly before the opponent can attack and counters with an attack. This you can see in the first frame battle. He knows that these frame battles between 2 alphas usually go like "I'm not stupid, you are!", "No, you are!", "No, you!", and so on. So he breaks the frame even harder, by letting them doing their attacks, just to counter with indifference to his attack and an even harder attack that also states that he is superior to them because he knows way more about them than they know about him.
I know this is for men, but this helps me out as a woman too. I’m very traditional, I’m not trying to be like a man but I’ve always struggled with insecurity when interacting with other women. I’ve always felt intimidated by other girls for some reason and some of these tips can be applied to women as well. Love it
Since I've practised to have much stronger eye contact during conversations, it made me realise how bad other people's eye contact is on average, it's just something I never noticed before because I was one of those people 😂
1STMAN your videos are the best man, just a month of watching and I’m already changing how I should act and behave..... I’ve never been this confident 😂
@@feggy585 Thank you man, buzzing for you, honestly your life is going straight up from here. Keep that optimism everyday and work on multiple areas. 5 - 10 years later you'll be the perfect man and you'll thank youself
Your analysis is fantastic I think with how the actor has portrayed Mosley is spot on and even to the level of a Oscar winning actor but I think you should of spoken more with his dialogue and it’s affection especially within the scene when he meets the peaky blinders at parliament the demonstration of transition of power within his body language and dialogue was probably one of the greatest scenes I have ever seen but overall really great work keep it up
Honestly, men waiting for someone/something that are looking around or messing with their phone are more likely bored and looking for a distraction instead of wondering what other people think about them.
I think it's both. People have been trained to fill in every available second with consuming something/anything on their phones/tablets/laptops (just like I'm doing right now).
That behaviour works if you're attractive because people will want your attention regardless of the attention you give them so they'll rationalise it and tolerate it, but if you're unattractive it looks less mysterious and cool and more rude and socially impaired tbh
yeah thats a good point. If you look intimidating like Tommy does it looks cool whereas if you look geeky and non-threatening it looks weird and like you have something wrong with you
There's an element of this, however attractive is subjective. Some men are well built, good posture, average face and dress well. This would be enough to attract high quality women and command respect
@@1STMAN do you think it's entirely physical though? Even disregarding stuff like how deep your voice is, are there anythings that differentiate an effect use of one of these techniques and one that has the opposite effect? I'm not challenging the video at all, in fact I loved it, but it would be interesting to see an analysis and example of times where these techniques can be misused or mistimed to create a socially awkward silent room. Would make a good video if there is any validity to it
I wish Mosley and Alfie Solomons would have an interaction, because I know Alfie would act like Mosley is a little child when he tries to use his posh confidence
I feel as though the reason to the change in body language from Tommy (Showing signs of being nervous.) is because he is working behind Mosley's back, unlike when he did with Billy Kimber, he is doing it for good reasons and against someone morally worse, possibly smarter than himself and smeone he can't take on when it comes to manpower (Although just as dangerous.). Making him fear that Mosley could discover what Tommy is planning.
Mate we often see Tommy cursing in front of other people, how does it affect? (Ik I'm asking something again but you are the only source I can question to ) Also really like your work mate, please do a bit more of Thomas Shelby.
No worries, ask as many questions as you like. Cursing adds emphasis to words and acts as a statement piece. That was brilliant vs that was fucking brilliant have two completely different meanings. These qords are also viewed as dangerous as such, so by simply using them occasionally it generates attention. Someone shouts shit and everyone looks over, it's that effect
id like to note that tonmy also likes to use information to to his advantage during conversations. for example he knew that grace was lying about working in the pub in dublin but instead of confronting her about as soon as he saw her, he waited until SHE brought it up. you do this to get the other persons guard down before bringing up a sensitive topic.
Many have told me i act like this (tommy) and have very similar body language, just my voice isnt as 'raspy' but it is as deep. I grew up always never being able to look in the eye and was shaky and had a hard life but as ive grown ive actually learned to maintain eye contact throughout even when speaking and they 9 times out of 10 always look down or away with their eyes. Im also very quiet and dominant as many have said( many also say mysterious). I am not as good thought with slow talking and leaving hangers like him and what not but i am practicing and it definitely keeps their attention and completely focused on you.
3:37 one thing i noticed is that he lets Grace come to him. He doesn't lean forward to her and lets her do the work of leaning into him while he sits still in a dominant stance. This can also be applied to hand shakes where the higher value man initiates and waits for the lower value person to react to his action.
@@1STMAN can you make a video on how to be an alpha male yet be compassionate and caring... I am really struggling to maintain a balance between the two
@@paulsonjamesaluri627 Yeah sure. I'll do something. The Rock in any film is pretty much what you need to follow. I'll do the Rocks BL plus how he treats others
nobody notices how the copper winces at the national anthem. he obviously doesnt like the UK or being in it. but does his job anyway. given the context of irland and the time.
The Virgin trying not to care about what others think of you, in an attempt to seem cool, vs the Chad genuinely seeing approval as nice to have, but not necessary.
In fairness Cillian Murphy is a very still though peaceful person in interviews. He doesn’t dominate unless he is engaged and doesn’t do frivolous chit chat. He will if asked answer intelligently, articulately and has very interesting things to say but his intolerance of stupid questions is frank for all to see.

Dude if these guys are doing copyright complaints agasint you theyre fools. They should be paying you to use clips of their show. I'm going to start watching this show now because its so interesting.
You mentioned that you took a course. What is the name of that course? I'm currently a university student looking into public speaking and I would love to learn more if my school offers a course addressing body language
