Honestly, right, as an English born and raised citizen and life-long footy fan can I just say - the ridiculous, DELUSIONAL and barely concealed xenophobia from the English media and punditry circuit is now at a point where we must call it out. Enough. This ludicrous false logic of 'there are no English managers good enough because we don't give them a chance' needs to die. It is utterly nonsensical and it does not represent our views as fans. 1. An English manager has had the job for many years and failed with insanely good squad and insanely favourable draws. So... why aren't there any more English managers good enough to succeed him? If 'giving an English manager a chance' will magically turn all the other English managers into World Class coaches, then, where are they? Why aren't they ready? Because' giving an English manager a chance', which has JUST HAPPENED with Southgate, obviously doesn't somehow magically change all the other plodders into savvy, tactical wizards. 2. Most of these pundits are CLOSE FRIENDS with the UK options. I've honestly heard Lineker, Micah, Neville, Carra etc call for f@*king Lampard or Gerrard to be 'given a chance'. Who cares whether the England Manager is English or not? In the EPL's 25 year history, there have been 9 managers who have won the Title. None have been English. If Graham Taylor, Steve Mclaren or Gareth Southgate are typical of the quality of English management, give me the best foreign manager available any day.
