The Thompson Twins Quick Step and Sidekick and Into The Gap are two greatly underrated these days. Both albums were very different and fresh sounding at the time. Great songs, great production. Hold Me Now is a stonewall classic. I'm going to see Tom Bailey this year, performing Into The Gap, really looking forward to it.

Another fabulous Anniversary album review guys 👏 This album defiantly ricocheted their career globally & what an amazing album this is?I love how you upload the artwork for the singles, as Ive never seen the single version artwork cover for 'The Gap' & i know this was only an import release & not released in the UK 🇬🇧 which is a shame, as this could've been a single release in the UK 🇬🇧 as i always remember them playing that fabulous song on 'The Tube' back in the days... Keep the good work coming Mark & Andy & Im loving these shows ❣️🫶 Long Live Electronic Music Xx

One of my very favourite bands and albums of the 80s. Tom's use of the pitch bend was so brilliant and full of expression. Every track is great. Loved Storm on the Sea. A sonic joy full of thick Sequential synths.

@@markuniquefowler4101 I know,it was so atmospheric with lovely subtle synth lines. They honestly don't make them like that any more. That track takes me back to being 15 again. Wouldn't swap growing up in the 80's for anything, a real privilege.

Fantastic. Loved this cassette 😅 back in the day...and the previous album ( which I still have on vinyl ) Quick step and side kick , is at least as good if not better !! Great memories of this band. Trying to explain there was never 2 of them to the younger ones ! 🤣 Thank you for spotlighting some great teenager years.😍

I bought it when it came out. I was about 12. It was one of 5-6 cassettes I had and I loved it. It still stands up. We bought tickets for their next tour but it was cancelled, which would have been my first concert. In the end it was DD’s Strange Behaviour tour in May 87. That experience never leaves you. I bought the 2CD deluxe edition from Cherry Red. Very very good edition. Highly recommended, but I feel this album does deserve a super deluxe edition with a blu ray audio. I’d buy it in a heartbeat ❤

Into the Gap was one of a handful of albums that seemed to be glued into my Walkman around that time. I recently cited the Thompson Twins as the band I'd wished I'd seen in their heyday. Incidentally, I remember they did a BBC Sight and Sound in concert (BBC Two simulcast with stereo from Radio One) and I'm still hopeful that BBC Four might repeat it at some point (or have I missed that repeat?). IIRC The Gap, although not a single in the UK, was featured on ITV's children's music show Razzmatazz featuring the band on a flying carpet via bad CSO.

There are very few albums I can listen to beginning to end without at some point wanting to skip to the next track. This is one of them. It just has an incredibly beautiful flow start to finish and as a huge fan of synth pop, the production aspect is endlessly interesting for me. I seem to hear and pick up something new that I hadn’t previously heard before. Alex Sadkin did an amazing job producing this album.

followed them from the Runaway days when there was about 80 members in the band :) shame they was really short lived , did like a later single they did come inside I think it was called , a brilliant remix of that . good times and a great album. maybe I prefered the one before tho
