Remember buying this on video then eventually DVD, just an awesome concert. Don't think I've ever seen another concert where they set up the stage around the band, sublime.
I had the previous albums and bought Lament when it was released. It is the Ultravox album I have listened to the most. My favourite track are "White China" and "A Friend I Call Desire", but the entire album is fantastic!
Dang David is WAYYY off in Psycho Killer.. He could never hit the high notes, but great voice for such superb music. Time to give it a spin on Spotify !
The album and the film are everything you say they are. Pretty damn perfect. IF you don't catch yourself smiling, moving or marveling at this you're probably clinically dead. The best versions of many of their best songs up to this point. Slippery People is a monster track to dance to. If you've never listened or watched this album, do yourself a favour and give it a go.
40 years ago... scary isn't it. Slippery people was constantly played in our local nightclub , and that was my first hearing of this incredible live album. Bought the concert on VHS. , then subsequently on DVD , the BIG suit was something to giggle at , at the time , but this performance remains to this day one of my favourite albums/dvds ever. Thanks guys , excellent. 😍🎵🎵
I knew it was something exceptional in ‘83 - I got the SW iron curtain references and their seemingly shift away from their top 10 material. I’ve loved it for 40 years and am content to sit back and say ‘I told you so’ forty years on.. I have had a life in between.. I think.
What a treat! I am sure that Rusty could have gone for another hour. Cannot wait for Blitzed to arrive. Looking forward to seeing Rusty again at the Electronic Cafe promoting his new album. If he can get Midge again on his album. Fingers crossed😊
Excellent, have always liked my electronic music and still listen to it all today, through this channel have come across artists I've never heard of then found their albums and listened to it. Thank you. I look forward to the Blitzed album
Rusty remains forever amazing and is so to be respected. I was fortunate to meet him few times and read/seen so much interviews. He is a dedicated humble legend/genius, always down to earth, but such a sky high delight, deserving every credit! Electronic hugs from Passenger S - Belgium
It's amazing how what happened in that Blitz Club affected a teenage boy in a small farm town in the middle of Nowhere USA and literally changed the direction of my life 💚🙏
Oh he speaks his mind alright, love him for taking no shite. I just love his creative magic [I keep my politics separate from my music]. Cheers for now..
Brilliant as always..thought it might have been longer than 49 mins lol Wow ! Ronny singing Fade To Grey? Awesome. Some great music to listen to coming up :)
Our chat with the legendary RUSTY EGAN about his brand new Album "BLITZED!" - the man in the eye of the 80s storm highlighting the tracks played at the legendary "Blitz" nightclub in London in the 1980's - tell us what you think !
✩ ALAN CHARLES WILDER ✩ "Depeche Mode Sound's Brain" In the "Golden Era" (1983 -1995), while Dave Gahan is one of the best vocalists and Martin Gore is one of the best composers, the brain behind the band's complex electronic sounds is Alan Wilder - a trained musician and a complete instrumentalist (bass guitar, drums, flute, guitar, percussion, piano, vocals, and his best: keyboards, samplers, and synthesizers) responsible for DM's techno musical complexity we know today. As Depeche Mode's arranger and composer, wouldn't Alan be the "unexpected genius" that blended Martin's dark introspective melancholy ballad-esque lyrics with complex groundbreaking electronic sounds? Surely, Depeche Mode wouldn't be what it is today without him after more than 40 years - the headliner band in a city show! Perhaps, this unveils the Mystique of Depeche Mode! For "Enjoy the Silence" from the 1990 album "Violator", Alan Wilder took Martin Gore's melancholy ballad-esque demo and completely re-envisioned the song as a percolating, melodic electronic dance track as we know it today. The resulting single went on to become one of the most commercially successful songs in Depeche Mode's history - a pulsating anthem with tens of remixes worldwide that payed off! "Violator" really boosted Depeche Mode's airplane making it take off to firmly establish the band on the international stage in the 1990's - a turning point after Kraftwerk in the 1980's - two pivotal influences on the electronic music industry. Well, while Martin made the dark lyrics "gore", Alan made the band's songs sound "wilder"! His expertise in keyboards, samplers, and synthesizers, and willingness to experiment were key to realizing the band's ambitious vision. As Mark Ellis (the band's producer "Flood") said, Martin is "The Idea Man", Dave is "The Attitude Man", and Alan is "The Craftsman" of Depeche Mode as well as Vince Clarke is "The Idea Man and Craftsman" of Erasure with Andy Bell as "The Attitude Man" - another great long-term band that blockbustered radio and dance floors around the world with their technopop state-of-the-art music that we all are very fond of. Thanks for your attention! P.S.: As for you, Mark Wibrow and Andy McNab, your narratives about Depeche Mode are ones of the most perfect I've ever heard: simple and cirurgical. I really appreciate what you say! Thanks! Very friendly yours, GENES MEDSAN E-mail: genesmedsan@gmail.com
Some what belatedly got around to part 2 and enjoyed it very much however afterwords I don’t know why I felt like a listen to western promise and as billy and you guys had mentioned the Steve Wilson’s mixes so I plonked it on only to be horrified that it sounds like Steve had gone all steve Lillywhite and try to make the track sound like simple minds sparkle in the rain era horrific I had to quickly whip out my original vinyl and have a sit down until normal order was resumed !
Thanks for adding our ‘ELECTRO/CUTE’ album! Fantastic to be included within such strong choices. So made up that you like the album so much! Keep up the great work, Chuzz & Sash 💜🥛
Thankyou soooo much for sharing. What a lovely guy he is. Been a fan of Yello since Solid Pleasure and can't get enough of their music. I bought Electrified but thanks to your upload I now know about about Resonance, which I missed the release. Listened to it all now and love it. I grew up in the 70s with the likes of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze etc so love the ambience 👌
