Are you thinking of booking a cruise aboard the Thomson Destiny? Then join me for a HD tour of the ships facilities. Includes a good look inside a typical 2 bed cabin. Recorded by a passenger. (We had a fantastic holiday)
Hi garylq: You have no idea how many memories came to my mind when I watched your video. The Song of America was one of the very first cruise ships I worked on back on 1995. Now I'm back in Chile my home country showing my wife and daughter how beautiful the SOA was,All this to keep them away from the bad moments we had after a 8,8 earthquake and tsumnami Many, many thanks for this wonderfull video which is already added to my favorites. Cheers from Chile
Went on the Destiny for my very 1st cruise in 2007 seeing this vid fetched back so many happy memories, if nothing else thanks destiny for showing me how to holiday. always go with Royal Caribbean now much prefer the very big ships, sailing on the Anthem of the seas in September this year, but the Thomson Destiny will forever hold a very special place in my memory, Thanks for uploading enjoyed very much.
Was on the Destiny between 28th Feb and March 15th 2010 don't know when this vid was took, but thanks for the upload it brought happy memories back,i went with my sister we lost our mum in Novemeber 2009 and we needed to get away to grieve......
Re. the cruise - It was my first and I loved it, the ship was fantastic, the whole concept of waking up in a different port every day (the Caribbean in our case) without having to pack your suitcase and being able to sleep in the same bed every night works incredibly well. I went with my partner, but there were several people travelling alone, the ship had organised a little club for them to meet up each morning. We made loads of friends on the ship, I'm sure you would too.
OMG, This brings back soo many memories of the two holidays I had on this boat in July/Aug 2006 and Aug 2007 - Thanks for great video. I loved it all. Shes not the biggest or fanciest ship but it aint a bad one. I want to do it again. Great Video :D Makes me all nostalgic.
Just came back from 2 weeks on the destiny and it was awesome! Definately looking into booking another cruise with them! Fantastic bar staff and waiters all extremely friendly! Show team and entertainment hosts do a brilliant job too! Definitely worth looking into this ship for anyone wanting a cruise!
Hi, I'm very pleased to have brought back some good memories for you at what must be a very diffcult time for the Chilean people. Thanks very much for posting such a kind comment. She's a lovely ship. Gary
You're welcome, I'm glad to have been of use, best of luck to you when you start searching. It takes everybody a few sessions to get used to their machine, so don't expect instant success. Your first coin find will be a great moment.
Hi, thanks for the comments. I agree, she's a great ship. I'd love to go back aboard to. I know 2 couples who are going on the Destiny soon, one to the Med in the summer and the other to the Caribbean in January. Gary
We spent 2 fantastic weeks aboard Destiny on voyage around Carrib, staff where great , entertainment best shows seen , ports of call fab been on Princess cruises but Thomson are one of best for Value for money
Hi, There's a tour of the bridge once a week only. Make sure you read the 'cruise news' (the Destiny's daily newsletter) every day, the bridge tour will be announced in there. Places are very limited, so make sure you get to the desk where they give out the tickets before it opens. I'm very pleased to read the vid was useful to you. We loved the Destiny and had a great holiday, I'm sure you and your parents will too. Don't miss the evening shows in The CanCan Lounge, they are amazing. Gary.
We booked a year ago in the deepest part of the recession and got a great deal, the value-for-money was excellent, we had a free all-inclusive upgrade, so needed very little spending money.
@kieranfb Hi, I haven't been on any other Thomson ships so I'm not sure. The new ship called The Dream is probably the best, with The Destiny being the best of the rest. This video was recorded in various ports in The Caribbean, the opening scene was taken in St. Lucia. Gary
@shaheerkhan96 Hi, thank-you. The ship was very busy, but you are not permitted to record performances, I did most of recording during quiet periods when the ship was in port and most of the passengers were ashore. The cruise was very good, all the passengers were very happy. Gary
Hi garylq, myself and my parents are travelling on the destiny this august and i saw in the video that you managed to get on the bridge. How would I get to go up on the bridge, did u have to ask at the reception desk? Let me know. Also, i've been looking for a good video of the ship, like yours and i'm glad i found one lol, because it has given me a wider insight on the things to do onboard.
Looks like an o.k. ship ...and although the camera moves fairly quickly...(you may feel a monetary air sickness) you at least have a general idea what the ship looks like. We'll be on the Louis Olympia in June 2014
hi garylq, thanks for the link to ukdn ive had lots of helping from the detecting site, i,ll give you a mention on my digging vids when i go for my first ever dig. (i got a whites xlt) anyway i,m thinking of a cruise ship holiday, is it worth the money and is it for single people or will it be bad if i go on my own, cheers
@kieranfb I have't been on any others either, but I would be weary of the dream. Iv'e heard some very bad things about it. Its only recently been acquired by thompson and it has all sorts of problems. The worst being that raw sewage leaks into some of the cabins. Also, it hasn't been refurbished in a very long time so the cabins look horrible. I had a great time in the destiny though, Its also an old ship but the service we got was great.
Video is very good ,and we are going on this ship in Jan 2011,,, was wondering if it was worth upgrading to the all inclusive drinks package ,,at a cost of £370 per person this is for two weeks ,,any replys would be appreciated .
sunbird, I think of Paul the pianist and the song piano man, worth getting in debt for 7 days, I wonder how much it would cost to book 1 year,if you only had a year to live, sell the house, 1 year cruising, and buried at sea, what a way to go.
@Didderly Thanks for the reply mate ,,,Im actually going onthe 23 rd Jan ,Ive worked out the sums and and I think ill be quids in,,,,I took the package ,cos me and my better half can do some drinking .
Nice vid mate but you need to remove sound from places that have sound when you are overlaying a track etc or the sounds clash an spoil it. nive vid though
@barno1966 Dunno if ya already on ya cruise mate but its now £3.40 a pint same for spirits £ 1.60 for tins, so the maths aint hard add up how much glug ya can get through on a daily basis an can you do it for the 2 weeks..? alternate get a good bar an keep em sweet, get me drift.......
Looks abit of the 80's, with no flare to it or anything to suggest that it would be better than any other cruise ship. Im going to keep looking. This looks extremely average.
