Unpopular opinion: Ragnarok ruined Thor. They would have NEVER allowed the Thor from Thor 1 to become the fat drunk he was in Endgame. People act like it was Endgame's fault when it was only following in Ragnarok's shoes of treating Thor like a joke. Love & Thunder is yet another reminder that they have dropped all pretences of having to try with this character. They've *literally* let him slide by as improv comedy since Ragnarok. It's honestly a pathetic waste of a once impressive character and it's so unbecoming of Hemsworth to see him barely even trying anymore. Glad to hear Portman did well though!
What's funny is I was looking forward to seeing this film, I felt the same excitement I had for The Batman. I should have known better!!! I truly admire director Waititi. But I think he went overboard w/this one. Won't spend my money to stream or rent. Will borrow it for free when my local library has it. Thank you for your review
I think that the core theme these days is still to deconstruct the stabilised Heroes so that it takes the joy out of them to the point where no one will care anymore. They did it to Star Wars original characters... It would appear that the MCU said... Hold my beer! Lets us see how much we can deconstruct everyone people/audiences once liked and care about! All that Marvel creates these days is candy coated cancer!
For me, the balance they have with Thor’s silliness and seriousness works. Its better in Ragnarok and the Avengers films but even in this movie I think they do it well. Especially with this movie being a comedy. I do wish some elements were taken more seriously, like you. I still had a really good time with it. Sorry you didn’t. Great review though 👍.
