Moral of the story learned from Star Wars and Indiana Jones: find someone with lots of ideas (like George Lucas) and pair that person with a talented creator who has the ability to say no (like Spielberg). If you have neither of these things, you get the sequel trilogy and Dial of Destiny (not to say James Mangold isn’t talented, but he definitely can’t say no to Kathleen Kennedy).
I'm glad I'm not the only person that love the visual style the films like Indiana Jones have in the 3 original films. The dusty, not so clear but it had this old and western kind of atmosphere and visual look to it. As if you were watching the films from an old TV. It went so well with the og films of Indiana Jones films. However, modern films has this crystal clear visuals and it looks the same
@@badnoodlez true. And a movie like Dances With Wolves doesn’t drag either. Modern films often don’t know how to use their runtime effectively though. Too much exposition, too much tell instead of show.
finally someone correctly and articulately expressed what the hell is wrong with these new Indiana Jones movies... I really agreed with your points... now here is one to consider... last crusade was such a great film is it equal or better than raiders? I really struggle to answer that....
I will wait and stream this one. It didn't do well at the box office. I'm a huge Disney fan yet, their recent films I have no interest in seeing at the cinema. Shia as Indy's son was a joke from the start. I don't understand why they made another Indy. Enough already. RIP Indy.
The Time Travel was crap but the Antikythera is a real thing. The Sankara Stones were invented by George Lucas, and the Holy Grail was never mentioned in the bible.
I just wanted to say, and to echo a fellow commentator, than none of the artefacts in the first three Indy films were real, with the exception of the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant is generally accepted as to have actually existed. From what I remember, the crystal skull legend is recent thing that started in the last century. It claims that there are thirteen crystal skulls that have special information locked within, and when humankind is ready, they will all be revealed and the information shared. But the, so called, 'ancient' crystal skulls that started popping up in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, were most likely made around the same time, but sold as Mesoamerican artefacts. The Antikythera mechanism is a fascinating item. Found in the early 20th century in an ancient shipwreck near the Greek Island of Antikythera. Recent reconstructions indicate that it was a hand operated device that tracked the solar system
Harrison Ford can be proud. He not only tolerated the dissasembly of his greatest character, but also activally took part in the destruction. Good going my guy
The original Indiana Jones are just awesomely good and entertaining, there's not many movies that you can watch 50 times in your life. The young Indiana Jones chronicles were quite good and some episode were really entertaining, the fact that Indy is a WWI veteran of the Belgian army is kind of lol, but he finishes WWI as captain of Belgian secret service because he speaks 26 languages and at the end of the serie he start university LOL.
It’s okay as a movie. It’s a letdown as an Indiana Jones movie It’s the middle of the pack since Temple of Doom was stupid and Kinngdom was atrocious. First and third were masterpieces.
I absolutely agree! Temple of Doom is overrated and the weakest of the first three! I also agree it being in the middle of the list. My Ranking: 1. The Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. The Last Crusade 3. The Dial of Destiny 4. The Temple of Doom 5. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
It's true that CGI plays a huge part, but _Indiana Jones_ doesn't work after the trilogy for one main reason: It's not _Indiana Jones_ without Harrison Ford. Ford and the franchise are inseparable, and the older he gets, the less believable and convincing the films get.
Dial is decent. Lots of issues with it obviously. I don’t regret seeing it in theaters but we all know it’ll be on Disney+ anyway so makes sense just to wait
The first 15ish minutes is kinda nice, though his face being 'youngified' was a bit weird. The rest of the movie is, well, meh I guess. Didn't dislike to much about it, didn't like to much either, so I'd say It's a 5.2/10 movie. Better than crystal skull for me for some reason. (Spoiler below) main baddy get his head absolutely lobbed off at the beginning by being hit by a pole on the head while on a fast train. Comes back later with no damage to anything. Shoulda been like the terrorist in Speed, and how he dies.
I accept that I may be in the minority, but I genuinely loved Dial Of Destiny. I thought it was brilliant. We like to rank things, create lists and administrate our favourite things from our least favourites. But I can honestly say that I enjoy all of the Indy films equally.
To say Indiana Jones is dead it's so stupid I watched a movie Godzilla what in the 60s and they just made another Godzilla so there you go, so don't say something stupid Indiana Jones is completely gone !😂😂😂
I agree except for the idea that Star Wars worked in the 2000s. Those films never worked in the 2000s. The prequels are awful. The last Star Wars movie should have been return of the jedi
Its a pile of crap and I am a HUGE Indy's fan. Disney inserted "modern audiences" protocol and by that I mean that a woman is now the main lead and on top of this nonsense the woman hero is Phoebe Bridge. Its juts painful to watch.
Isn't that the obvious route though, they've done everything else... Strong female sidekick. Prissy sidekick. Short round. Father/son relationship... twice with mutt and Sean Connery. Now father/daughter or god daughter. It seems like the obvious thing to do next, outside of current ideologies and politics anyway. No?
I disagree. I didn't see Phoebe Waller-Bridge's character as the main lead. Indy was the main character throughout the movie. And I thought that the story was great. But then it's all subjective I suppose.
@@Jaytee. the plot is full of plot holes and scenes that dont make sense. Phoebe dominates Indy in every scene she is in, arrogant, senseless, its just painful to watch. There is a scene where she lefts Indy to die and another where Indys friend is shot and she could not care less, Indys friends used to be caring and heroic, this bitch is self centred and selfish as fuck, why should the audience even care for her? Kathleen Kennedy can shove her agenda up her ass and leave our childhood heroes alone.
