It’s not so much that he realized he wasn’t worthy anymore (given Mjolnir didn’t have the enchantment until after he was banished), but rather I think the mortality truly kicked in for him in this moment. Until now he thought he could easily regain his powers if he just found Mjolnir again, and return home. But once he couldn’t lift it, reality hit him that he truly couldn’t go home and was just a man now. And it was this that really lead him to learning humility.

@@TheStraightestWhitest Lol nobody agrees with you. Ragnarok injected a new vibe to the franchise without changing the fundamental characters or arcs. It worked. It bookended to the Thor trilogy that called back to Odin & Thor's development in the original, and salvaged the franchise after the deservedly dismissed Thor 2. People liked it, and they still like it. Thor 4 had to start a new plot arc, it was directionless, and TW had no restraint with his humor like he did with Ragnarok. It did not work. Ragnarok introduced some elements that went way too far in 4. That's all. You may not like Ragnarok, that's fine, but blaming it for Thor 4 is like blaming Endgame for introducing the multiverse when we're actually just sad Dr. Strange 2 was a giant mess. Bro, the first “Thor” was so underrated. The people that hated on this movie so much must not have missed the true meaning of the movie. This movie isn’t all about the action, which is what everyone wants to see in sci-fi action films nowadays. What it’s about is Thor learning how not to be obsessive in starting wars with others and not be so arrogant and reckless and instead, gain a sense of humility and selflessness and learn how to be kind, caring, and considerate of other people in order to gain his worthiness back. This movie is a well-developed story of how Thor becomes more heroic. That’s why he decided to sacrifice himself by leaving himself to die at the hands of Loki and The Destroyer on Earth when trying to protect Jane, her friends, and his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. That’s why he also made another sacrifice by attempting to destroy The Rainbow Bridge that connects the Bifrost to all Nine Realms including Asgard and Earth so that he could prevent Earth from experiencing any more danger than it already has. In my opinion, Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job telling the story of how Thor became a hero.

Well, there is a whole comic series called "Odinson, The Unworthy Thor". As "Thor" in Marvel is more of a Title than a name. As his real name is Odinson (as he is the son of Odin...yes Norse were not that creative). It talks about how Odinson traveled around trying to become worthy again and to get his hammer back. As he admitted that deep down. He was scared of his hammer. He was scared that one day he could wake up and he could never be able to pick it up to wield it. He always thought deep down. He just had doubt in it. Yet also having the hammer was kind of a drug. He loved the power it gave him. Even though he himself is nearly unstoppable but he still can be killed (Norse God thing). Though this series was also around the time Jane Foster (kind of Odinson's love interest) ends up being able to pick up the hammer and being the new Thor...and really fans are totally mixed about it. Even though in her normal human form. She is dying from Cancer and each time she transformed into Thor. All the Kemo she undergoes. Well, it is cleaned out of her system and the cancer is still there. As even being Thor. She is still dying. She could end up dying to cancer. Even as Thor. Really it was an interesting concept. Really Marvel went so far to be very Meta. Even had Odin and most of Asgard hate on Jane Foster being Thor. Calling her a fake. All to show that they were listening to the fans and just added more to her character.
@chickenfries7017
@chickenfries7017 5 лет назад
Qardo you're partially right, Thor is both a Name and a title. Odinson is just literally referring to his father which is why he call Phil "son of coul" because his last name is Colson. Think of it as Asgard, it's both a place on a map and somewhere physical, kind of like New York and New York.

This scene really makes sense in Endgame Thor in this movie have so many achievements that makes his people praise him, making him think that he is a hero and a King to all his people, became too arrogant, and self centered that he became unworthy of the hammer. Thor in Endgame blames himself for the death of half of all life in the universe making him fall to depression, PTSD, alcoholism, and being a shut-in thinking that he is no longer worthy of being called a Hero nor a King. Marvel sends this message to the people that the pain you are experiencing now doesn't make you any less worthy.

'You're big. Fought bigger' *Thor grins* It's hysterical how the first Thor movie, 11 years ago got him absolutely perfect while Love and Thunder has just completely ruined him. He has regressed. They just point blank refuse to allow him to be King thanks to them ensuring 'King' Valkryie the enslaver is. They have now regressed him to a drooling, bumbling simpleton, an airhead jock who every character finds utterly insufferable because he's written like a walking catastrophe. And now they've regressed him further to make him the God of Hammers yet again, despite Taika's very last movie's entire point being that he isn't. They have to make Thor King or kill him off at this point. The idea he ended ANOTHER movie now just fucking around instead of taking up the mantle is unbearable. Remember when Valkryie enslaved Thor for the Grandmaster's games and twice refused to help her own people when he was all but begging her? Yeah, she'd be a better ruler for those people than Thor. God, this movie was the worst movie the MCU has made by a long shot. Thor is truly character assassinated.

If you look really closely, then you will see Hawkeye: one of the original avengers that was completely forgetting and underused within the MCU.

This whole scene shows exactly why he isn't worthy, the lengths he went to get here, the greed, the power, the arrogance, as if he was coming to get something that belong to him rather than something that was given That hammer isn't just some tool you can wield It's a tool to build and destroy Like a regular hammer Only the one who knows how to use the best Somebody who truly knows how to use it can make the best it Power can corrupt But we all know Thor isn't worthy because he simply is Thor But because of the person he chooses to be
