Bro, the first “Thor” was so underrated. The people that hated on this movie so much must have missed the true meaning of the movie. This movie isn’t all about the action, which is what everyone wants to see in sci-fi action films nowadays. What it’s about is Thor learning how not to be obsessive in starting wars with others and not be so arrogant and reckless and instead, gain a sense of humility and selflessness and learn how to be kind, caring, and considerate of other people in order to gain his worthiness back. This movie is a well-developed story of how Thor becomes more heroic. That’s why he decided to sacrifice himself by leaving himself to die at the hands of Loki and The Destroyer on Earth when trying to protect Jane, her friends, and his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. That’s why he also made another sacrifice by attempting to destroy The Rainbow Bridge that connects the Bifrost to all Nine Realms including Asgard and Earth so that he could prevent Earth from experiencing any more danger than it already has. In my opinion, Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job telling the story of how Thor became a hero.

Pretty crazy how Hela literally wiped out the entire Asgardian army single handed.

10 years later, this is still one of my personal top 5 origin films. The grandeur, the music, and all the actors putting in 100% in their roles... perfection.

I really like this opening of Thor. Kenneth Branagh did a really great job of conveying the "god" "magical" and "magnificent" of what the "Northern Europe" myths and legends are supposed to look like. It is just like reading a tale as old as time, what our parents always told us when we were young. (I think he was also the director of the Cinderella live-action movie, whose I also really liked the fairy tale, picture book tone.) I really missed that majestic feeling. Now we know that Asgardians are just like aliens, living on the planet called Asgard, and are no different than us. Where is that "Beacon of Hope" and "Shining Across the Stars" vibe?

Asgardian's went fighting from the universe most powerful armies to fighting noobmaster69 really quick.

The first minutes of the introduction gives me vibes of the intro of LOTR TFOTR, especially the war between Asgard and the Frost Giants, it's like the War of the Last Alliance: Galadriel: "But they were some who resisted" Odin: "But Humanity would not face this threat alone". Sames vibes, same goosebumps, same epicness.

SPOILERS FOR THOR: RAGNAROK...... Did anyone think they could have done better with Thor's missing eye? It looked like some reddish-purple face paint, where as with Odin in this clip, there's more bloody detail. Made it seem like him losing an eye was an afterthought.

People who think Earth is flat clearly saw Thor movies before Science lectures.

Asgard is certainly one of the MCU's more beautiful locations to be certain.

The Thor franchise was a gradual deranged and malicious destruction of the Asgard legend, culminating in the final degradations directed by a clearly racist director, Taika Waititi, who made Thor into a joke.

This intro alone is more interesting and inspiring than all recent Marvel movies together, and Thor 1 wasn't even considered a good movie.

If Odin Fought Frost Giants without Hela here and in Ragnarok she didn't met odin before he dies, how does she knows Odin has one eye when she says "Now you look like him" after taking out Thor's eyes. And if she did fought that War with Odin. Then how did she left Loki Alive while being casted out to hell.

I think that the Frost Giants were in posesion of the Teseract at that time, that's why they were able to travel to Earth, cause they don't use something like Bifrost and neither have any technology to make ships, so I think it is plausible. Also, when Odín appeared in Norway, the Frost Giants probably tried to withdraw, and open a portal to their planet, that's why then the battle continues in Jothunheim. It could be the way Odin got the teseract, and he then gave it to the norway village to compensate all the damages of the battle.

My mom LOVED the Marvel Thor comics when she was young. Her dad was a professor of history, and he would read the comics with her, pointing out the parts that were based on actual Norse myths. Needless to say, she loves these movies.
