I'm sorry man. My dog Bailey recently passed away. I've had her since I was 7 and now I'm about to graduate college, so it's been a long journey. I hate that I wasn't there when she died, I was out of town doing an internship. Everyone was there with her but me and I wish I could have been but I wasn't. The next time I was at my house, I was eating dinner and once I was done I put the plate on the ground and walked into the kitchen. When I came back out I looked at the plate expecting it to be clean and it wasn't. That's when it really hit me. I had known her for 14 years of my life and grew to know her personality. It might sound dumb but she was like a real person, she was happy and sad, energetic and tired, she whined and begged, she even looked visibly guilty when she got into something she shouldn't have and would go hid in some corned ashamed of herself. At some point the line between pet and family blurred and when I lost her I knew I had lost family. Obviously I can't imagine losing my mom or anyone else. You are really strong for getting through that, even though there is still probably plenty of tunnel left to go...I wish you luck Max.

This genuinely breaks my heart listening to and reading these lyrics. As someone who grew up with dogs within the family home, the day they pass is one of the hardest days of your life. All those years and memories spent with them, only for life to take them away from you. It’s excruciating and it does truly take a piece of your soul away from you. Phenomenal track.

I had a cat named Lily that we adopted when she was only 4 weeks old. Unknown to us, she had a terminal illness and was taken from us after only one week of having her. This song hits close to home, and I hope she’s in a better place now

I have to put my cat down in about two hours. The longest most anxiety filled hours have been this morning, waiting. This song and The Haze have been stuck in my head since I scheduled the appointment yesterday. Just gotta say im glad the Dark Pool exists and this is what music can mean to people- everything. Knowing that someone else understands what you’re going through.

Been listening to this song and album for years and still tear up at 2:29 every single time. The emotion in the vocals combined with the ambience behind the earthy guitar tone is just absolute musical perfection, somehow hits even harder than the prior breakdown which is difficult to achieve in its own. Favourite album of all time

I lost my dog to liver cancer a few days ago during the time I discovered this song. He was like no other dog in this world and losing him felt like I've lost my one and only closest friend. When you know it's time for your pet, spend every moment you can have with them, because in the end, that was 15 years of joy and affection for myself, but for him I was his joy for his entire life.

My dog, Aswad passed away when I was 23 and in the UK away from home. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. It was honestly one of the most devastating things I've ever experienced, I cried for a whole week. I still miss her.

Lily and the Moon is a childhood book. This song helped me through a really tough time. I was broken up with, and homeless in a new city. I built my way up to earning enough for an apartment, started going to the gym twice a day.

I discovered this song about a month ago, and I fell in love with it since the first listen. When i first listened to it, it had a different meaning. My dog, Bella, is getting older. She’s about 9 and this song reminded me about how she’s getting old and I need to remember that time is precious. But recently this song changed for me. I lost a friend to suicide last week, and now all I can think of when I hear this song is him. Thank you for this song, Thornhill.

Put my little pug Oscar that i rescued down 2 days ago. I took him to the park before hand and got a picture of him watching his last sunset. It was like the rays were lifting him up i wish i could put a photo on here. Im not lieing when i say He had actual tears coming out of his eyes me and my girlfriend noticed them its like he knew. He cried more in the clinic too before his injection. Hardest thing i have ever done in my life my heart is still shattered. This song has helped alot with the grieving 💔. RIP Oscar i will always remember the love you brought into my life. You were the kindest spirit i have ever met.
