Them and Tetrachromat are the only bands I’ve heard with similar drumming styles that give me that unravelling vibe on subsequent listens. I’m still discovering new things in Thornhill and Tetrachromat tracks :)
100%. I pickup on different sounds from each member each time I listen. They do hit us with the heaviness and all that but as you said, they seem to be all about the attention to detail and making it sound unique. And they nail it. Seriously talented group of lads
@@stormexon8665 Basically you have to mic a drum set or trigger it to produce a recording of live drums. Most people program their drums because it's easier to not only produce a steadier even (dynamically speaking) sound, but its also more cost effective and requires less engineering to produce a punchy sound. I have a few songs on my page with some banging programmed drums for comparison. Also programming drums doesn't take away from the drummer. If you have someone who can throw down on whatever you can think up than by all means who really cares...not the listeners!
These playthroughs are making me really want them to release an instrumental version of the album. Jacob's vocals are amazing but there is so much hidden detail that is now clear.
God, this album is a masterpiece. So cool to hear it from an instrumental perspective, even though Jacob sings so beautifully. Really hoping for a guitar playthrough of this entire piece as well. Easily my favorite part of the album. I love Thornhill!
Ben Maida, You magnificent *THICC BOI* bad ass drummer you. I can't get enough of these two tracks. Especially when he plays that little fill at 00:56. 🤘
Giorgos Tsak it’s hard to realise when you listen to the songs, but I watched the Nurture guitar play through and was in awe. They’re insanely talented.
Scott Jennings depends on how you define impressive. If you meant technical, then no... But do not mistake, this IS extremely impressive musicianship. The sound they create together is awe inspiring.
Cookedaburra immediately stood out. What a beautiful sound and accessible playing, but plays with style and feel. Plays heavy, plays soft. The kid behind that kit deserves more praise than we could ever dish. I want more Thornhill. This is one of the best metal albums I’ve ever heard.
The drums during the breakdown in Reptile off their previous ep slap to high heaven. Incredible production and performance. Hits you right in the chest.
@@jimberjamber8540 oh fuck yes, the musicality that he plays with is refreshing. The way those ghost notes highlight that groove in Reptile is orgasmic
This Band is literraly the Definition of perfection, the whole Sound and atmosphere of their Songs and the vocals, that is really the best ive ever Listen to!!! Keep on killing it guys!!!!

You're the real mvp! But unfortunately that's not what we're hearing in this playthrough. It's all either sample replaced or just miming over top of the album stems.
Today at work, I was listening to Void of Vision on Spotify, jamming as I normally do. I decided to search related artists and came across Thornhill. I’ve heard their music before but today, I heard for the first time, Lily and the Moon. This song is simply badass! I have to be able to “feel” a song. Sometimes, the music I listen to is difficult to understand lyric wise but it’s always about the beat. This song has that beat.
This is what happens when you get a band where all members are equally talented, this is august burns red, erra, thornhill, etc, bands that don’t release bad music, and they will all be legends
This transition at 4:30 gives me the goosies and when it comes back in is great too! The vocalist has such a unique sound I think I’m close to (but probably not lol) that I can’t help but belt it out every time
I felt like this playthrough was gonna be nothing special for the first maybe 1/3 of the song, but it reallyyy picked up after that! Tasteful and skilled performance.
Damn this video popped up in my recommendation and I thought this is pretty good post-rock/post-metal then I found out they have freakin awesome singer. What a great find!
É incríveil o quanto ele extraí de um kit relativamente simples. Tipo, ele usa exatamente o que precisa, e o faz com maestria. Um grande baterista! Saudações do Brazil! 🤘
I believe the drummer's name is Ben Maida who has been with the band since their beginning in 2015. (Not that you would know from the description). By the way, great job Bro!
This album is still a masterpiece. F****** great drummer !!! Thanks for all the drum & guitar playthrought that make feel the album from another point of view. Cheers from Paris !!! Hope you'll be on an european tour soon...
