"Not for the Life of Me" and the title number from Gallimaufry Performing Arts production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in 2009. Starring Tayler Mettra as Millie. Directed by Steve Josephson. Choreographed by Andrew Ruesch.
Love the set and choreography. The lighting is so dark and makes the chorus invisible in many places. I saw the original show several times and prefer this set from what I see here.
How short was the rehearsal time on this show? Something seems off about the timing and singing in every piece I've scene from this company's production. I loveeee this production otherwise: choreography, acting, stage presence, and set and costume design are as good as productions I've seen on Broadway.
The dancing was amazing but when when millie isn't singing there shouldn't be spot on just her and everyone blacked out. You need more face lights on the other dancers so the audience and pay more attention to them when they need to.
+sketches n doodles possible, unless they wanted faceless nameless new yorkers to show the never ending amount of new faces and culture she is running into. making the dancing ensemble a continuation of the set instead of recognizable actors in the scene
Why do these company's who rent out Broadway shows change the lyrics for some of their songs, just stick with the lyrics the racist wrote and they won tonys for.
I more try sure the lyrics were changed for the touring productions and then changed for HS ETC going forward. That happens pretty often, just look at crazy changes in Shrek from Broadway to current licensing.
