One of my all time favourites from Voice Play. My favourite ride at Disney. Soooooooo good. Thanks to getting to this one. It's always fun to watch it again as if for the first time.
At the end of the Disney ride The Haunted Mansion, the woman in the crystal ball (whom Cesar plays in this) says the "Hurrrrry baaaack! Hurrrrrrry baaaaaack!" lines.
Adding one little thing to the many informations others are providing... At the end, while all the ghosts are floating here and there in the room, the high pitched voice in the background is Elizabeth "The Charismatic Voice" Zharoff's 🙂.
You had me laughing with your reaction. The comment about Geoff's voice was hilarious. Instead hearing that voice about the bed, imagine that voice coming from underneath your bed. Now that would scare the devil to go to confession.
I read somewhere that Voice Play has been preparing for & performing some concerts this Fall. That might be why they haven't been so elaborate in their Halloween videos this year. Although what they've done is amazing! 💕
The theme is the Haunted Mansion Ride at the Disney Parks. Characters left to right... Silas Crump, Graveyard Caretaker - Geoff. Hatbox Ghost holding a hatbox for his head - Layne. Madame Leota, medium - Cesar. Constance Hathaway, Corpse Bride - Lauren. Alexander Nitrokoff standing on a barrel of dynamite - Eli. This was filmed right before a hurricane was headed towards Orlando. Layne had to fly to Nashville and back within 24 hours to film Lauren. Then get back to superimpose her into the video before the hurricane hit. He lost power for 3 days after that and finished editing and such when it came back on. I love this and have been listening to it off and on all year.
You need to look up the Haunted Mansion Ride - full version. It's about 15 minutes. These are all characters from the ride. Even Lauren's "hurry back" is from the end of the ride. You may have missed it, but when Lauren sang her high note, Layne did his Hatbox Ghost trick, where his head disappears off his shoulders and appears in the hatbox. The Hatbox Ghost was in the early Haunted Mansion ride but disappeared for 45 years or so because they weren't able to get the effect done correctly. He's been added back into the ride few years ago. Geoff is the old groundskeeper who is looking around scared, Lauren is the dead bride in the attick, Ceasar is the witch in the crystal ball and Eli is one of the portraits in the stretching room at the beginning of the ride. I was fortunate to live in California and grew up going to the Haunted Mansion ride.
You have to hear Lauren's version of this in a stairwell. You wanna talk creepy! Imagine being in your apartment, or walking past the stairwell door and hearing that one night. YIKES!!!
Lauren absolutely killed this. To come into VP for the 1st time, fit right in and kind of steal the show both vocally and visually is amazing. She understood the assignment 👌
@@paulstelian97 I think that's more similar to the original version. VP's is very different feel and tempo to original (as expected as they are so creative).
That was fun watching your reaction to her. Your "Ma'am" with your eyes so big had me giggling, but only because I knew what was coming. she got me the first time I saw this video. I cannot wait to see how you do with the combo of her voice with the basement notes of the Bass Gang tomorrow. See you then. Take care till then and just remember to take a breath every now and then.
Lauren Paley originally sang this song in her buidlding's stairwell to spook her neighbours. It went viral so naturally VP had to get hold of her. :) The characters are from The Haunted Mansion and yes a lot of people confuse who is Geoff in this, I think it's fairly obviously him in the cap. And yes that was Layne who sang in the creepy voice. I think I'm right in saying that Geoff played the caretaker in The Haunted House for a time. VoicePlay are in a league of their own; unique. Lauren had to do her part on green screen as she lives so far away from the group.
If I heard correctly, so I might be wrong but Lauren is from Nashville, TN and Layne flew up here to Tennessee got her recording and flew back home before a hurricane hit not to mention she was also expecting a baby during that time. She has also scared people in the stairwell of her building she lives in. Like I said I may have heard wrong. Thank you for a wonderful reaction. I’ve been looking forward to this one.
I love both VP and Bass Gang's versions of this song. They are totally different takes, despite both using Lauren and her ethereal voice. VoicePlay created a video that is silly, playfully scary, and (of course) theatrical. Bass Gang's video goes from haunting to downright terrifying, with Marwan hitting a freaking B0 and breaking reality. In fact, I used both versions as inspiration, blending elements of them into an arrangement of "Hide and Seek" that my band is playing at our Halloween gig.
You... you think tonight will be hard to sleep... oh sweet boy... TOMORROW... THAT will keep you up the rest of the night. This is more or less her song, she took an otherwise unknown translation of a Japanese equvalent to Goosebumps episode and turned it into this. And she had very near full artistic license with both the Bass Gang and the Voiceplay versions.
Lauren, the Stairwell Siren, has her own version of this on her site. You may be aware, but if not, these characters and the decor, is from The Haunted Mansion ride. Geoff is the Graveyard Caretaker. Maybe is the Hat box ghost. His head moves into the box. Lauren is the Bride, actually an earlier version called the Beating Heart Bride. Cesar is the Crystal Ball ghost. And Eli is Ivan(?) Nitrokoff, one of the ghosts in the Stretching Room. He is standing on a keg of dynamite, that blew up. The portrait over the fireplace is Master Gracy, our Ghost Host.
You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING JOHN SNOW! honestly it's not just VoicePlay!! It's all the artists I react to!!! Colm Mcguinness just put out a cover of a song from Phantom of the Opera and my plan is to record a reaction to post on my Patreon until I can put it out on youtube in Nov because I can't wait that long!! Haha
Lauren got a lot of her TikTok fame from singing this song in her stairwell, she’s the one who brought back into the public eye. Both recordings came after she had already made this song popular.
One of the things I have always loved about VoicePlay is their integration of featured artists into the group dynamic. Whomever they get to sing with them isn't just there for one small part. They are part of the group as a whole, for the entire song. Background vocals, effects if they can manage them, "Ooo Ahh"s, the whole nine yards. When you colab with VoicePlay you get a part, same as everyone else in the group. And, I love that. From what I have seen VoicePlay is unique in that. Fun reaction, as always, Dj. See you in the next one!!
Lauren Paley is know as (the stairway siren) there is one more version you NEED to see.. is the one of her in the stairway...(there are multiple versions go for the longest) It is amazing version and the stairway adds such an effect...
Great reaction! 😂 Yeah, both versions are amazing, and wildly different. Props also for your tiny Pinhead in the bookshelf, I didn't notice him at first. ❤
2:10 Lauren Paley is also k own as the stairwell siren, because of the haunting effect her voice has in the industrial stairwell of her apartment building, where she records.
Voiceplay just absolutely can't miss!! I do hope we get something with some theatrical/goofy costumes soon! Other than Post-Apocalyptic or Viking I haven't seen alot of VoicePlay dress up lately
Lauren also did this song with the Bass Gang. Both times she did an amazing job. Her voice is so eerily. These guys do such a great job on their songs and videos. Voiceplay and Home Free are my favorite a cappella groups. They both seem to have fun with what they do.
She's got the spooky young female vocals down pat...loved your reaction! Hall of the Mountain King was the one where they were dressed as demons/trolls
Loved your reaction to this. Was hoping you would get to it this Halloween. Keep doing the awesome reactions. Cant wait for your reacton to the Bass Gang version. Both groups did an amazing job. 🥰🎃🥰🎃🥰
So glad you reacted to this one. As I'm sure you've been told by now Lauren Paley did this song in her apartment's stairwell and it is definitely worth the watch. That's why VP and The Bass Gang asked her to do it with them. All of the videos are super creepy and awesome at the same time. My depression and anxiety are kicking my ass right now so this reaction made my night! ✌️❤️🎃
I've watched this over and over..... I still can't see Layne behind that makeup. Even in the behind the scenes, he has on the makeup but jeans and a T-shirt and I still can't see him. Even when he is speaking in his normal voice, nope. Maybe because he had to have a clean shave and we haven't seen him like that in years.
I don´t know, Geoff could pass off for Oliver Twist character cosplay with that outfit...or even Chimney Sweeper from Mary Poppins. The latter should still give romantic vibe ^^
Such an amazing reaction again! I just discovered your channel a few days ago and can't stop listening to your commentary. I'm watching this video the second time now, just to hear your reactions again. I was not prepared for you mentioning some thoughts about Geoff and a bed. :D I'm just imagining his reaction when he hears that. You're fantastic!
Hahaha, aww, thank you so so much for your lovely comment!! 🥰 VoicePlay make the reactions easy when the songs are THIS amazing! Oh gosh, I hope Geoff would take it as the light-hearted ribbing that it is! :D
@@dj_410 I definitely agree with you about Voiceplay's quality, can't stop listening to them. Haha don't worry, I'm sure he doesn't mind these comments. Your heart warming and open side can't be disliked. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great day!
@@dj_410..please do a reaction to Geoff's new solo short to..I Put A spell On You. You don't want to miss this one. He will totally break you. Also Geoff's solo cover to Paul Bunyan & Big Iron. They are all short so you can do all 3 in one sitting.
This was based on Disney's Haunted Mansion. The Bass Gang went a bit creepier with their version. Both are great performances, but the second one feels a bit darker to me when I hear it.
What an amazing reaction! VoicePlay never disappoints with their halloween videos, they are always so amazing😍I can't wait to see your reaction to Bass Gang's version tomorrow!!❤
@@gracefiles2268 Totally agree. If Halloween was all year long I would be a happy camper. I love Halloween. Besides the videos my favorite part is dressing up and giving out treats to the treaters. Love seeing all the imaginations. I'm going to be a black cat this year. Last year I was a skunk. My daughter even bought a treat bowl and door sign that are black cats. And black arm sleeves to go with my black tshirt..
