GAME: Fate/Samurai Remnant
AUTHOR: Omega Force, Koei Tecmo
Fate/Samurai Remnant lets players play as Miyamoto Iori. The combat is hack and slash style with some similarities to musou gameplay, but it falls under the Action RPG genre with dodging and looking for openings as an important element. It features a wide array of stances, which the player character can switch between on the fly. Iori uses dual katanas, a widespread weapon for Samurai during the Edo period. Players can give commands to their servant, launching special attacks and combos. In certain situations, the game allows for full control of Iori's servant, as his weapons can't be used against other servants.

So I finally realized Aria's obsession after this ending. She saw the demon within Iori, and how it shined like the moon. That's what made her, one who is an aspect of the demon Amateratsu, desire to "eat" him for herself. However, as Iori was able to keep himself in check at the time as a "kind" person, he unintentionally convinced Aria to let go of her own desires.

The feelings of ending a Fate game are... always a bit bittersweet. Much like the feeling of saying goodbye to a servant at the end of a Grail war, we too say goodbye to this world and it's characters. Good times, bad times, there's a lot to feel about it but the fact it happened was nice. And just in time to see the reveal of new information / DLC / anime (??) for this game at the New Years stream. Overall, I'd say you have one of two paths to potentially go down if you want more: - Fate / Stay Night Ultimate Edition: the real first VN, and the basis for the world. One of the best games I've ever played. The best starting point imho. - Witch on the Holy Night: A little birdie told me you do have it already, and while it's not actually tied to Fate directly it IS in the same world and universe and is also a triumph in visual novels. Either way, I'll gladly watch more from you on it. It reminds me of my own reactions starting this insane world about 4 years ago, where people actually commented "I expected NicoB to play Fate, not you!" long ago lmao Keep on keeping on, man. Excited for more!

I like how they hide his face, clearly signifying that he will have a new drastically different sprite, but then when we actually see him it’s just that his eyes are a bit more aggressive. It convinces everyone that this is very much the same Iori and not some new side of him. Also love how he was expecting and preparing himself for Saber’s noble phantasm to be the biggest threat, calling back to how he said he must surpass it, only for the actual threat being Saber understanding and using his own Niten Ichiryu technique, i.e. Iori’s own philosophy. The writing is so great here especially because it’s subtle

“The Fate Samurai remnant journey has been finished, but Nico’s Figure addiction remains unsated.” In all seriousness, I’m very glad you checked out this game and have enjoyed it as much as you have. As for looking for future fate series that you could do, there’s of course the original Fate/stay night, which is a visual Novel, there’s also Fate/Extra, which is an RPG, with admittedly an outdated look and gimmick, but the story is really good. However that’s getting a remake, so it might be better to wait on that. Whatever you decide to do, I’ll look forward to seeing it in the future, and I hope you have a merry Christmas and a Happy holiday.

Yeah, the writing in Fate is top tier, but as far as these games go, I think they are still struggling to figure out how to layout a video game to go with their visual novel as opposed to just being a visual novel, but I do think they have been getting better. As far AS those visual novels go. Fate/Stay Night, the original release, goes about 20 hours per route, and 3 routes in total, and Id say it would make complete sense to even just play it one route at a time for a 20 hour LP every now and then. Being visual novels, not many edits will happen there, so you can kinda know the exact period of time 20 hours will take.

We have finally reached the ending to this LP, an LP I will remember as Nico's first swim into a series he is going to regret getting into financially. I sure hope you have a lot of space for those figures in the future! I hope y'all enjoyed the random trivias, honestly they were fun to make and I hope you did learn something, whether that be new information for newcomers like Nico or be reminded that the Fate series just has a lot to talk about, even when it at times becomes too much to digest. From this point, honestly, I don't really know what kind of game Nico would go into for the next Fate installment. He *could* go for the visual novels, hell he could start watching all the anime too! That would be great but all I want, is for Nico to enjoy his time with the series. Trust us, Nico. This isn't even close to all that the series has to offer. Here's some parting words, from one of the most recognizable quotes from Fate: "Hey, that's Hell you are walking into."

If given absolutely no choice, if the only choice is to destroy the Waxing Moon or die, Iori will always chose to win as is his nature. However if the choice of whether or not to destroy the waxing moon or to keep it for himself the chance to finally be in the era he was always meant to be will always end this way... No matter the consequences or who he leaves behind... No matter how his actions will hurt those closest to him... He truly was born in the wrong era in a way this ending serves as a solid conclusion to Iori Miyamoto with a sword in hand met the end of one who lived in an era of swords so that the era of peace may continue... Despite the tears of those he left behind...

It might be a bit early, but if Nico's looking for another Nasuverse work to go through, that's mostly self-contained and newbie friendly, I would like to recommend the recently localized 'Witch on the Holy Night'. It's a visual novel that technically isn't a part of the Fate series proper, but is set in the same universe and uses a lot of the same worldbuilding mechanics and terminology. It's a bit of a different vibe from this game and not as serious or dramatic, but still a very competently written work.

Something I want to say about Iori's character. He's not necessarily evil anymore than he's a good person, he falls into the same alignment Musashi does, it's just Musashi - while no less upset that he was also born in the wrong age - was at least able to accept that change unlike Iori. But the choice to destroy the Waxing Moon over using it is, to me, a genuine one and not just another example of Iori playing the model citizen. If you make this choice in the other route, you get a single cutscene change where Yui watches Iori's heel turn and lamentfully realizes that the light she saw wasn't coming from Iori - she then goes on to compare Iori to the moonlight being swallowed up by the night sky, a comparison that makes me think Aria always realized Iori's true self from the start. But at the end of the route normally, during Yui's final moments, she claims to see the light once more when only Iori is around. This makes me think that the simple decision to destroy the Waxing Moon is enough to make Iori's peace seeking act a genuine one. That's what I like about Iori; he's not a good person but having the ability to do good even against his desire to do otherwise and even if it leaves him dissatisfied in the end makes him a hero to me.

While certainly the most “tragic” ending out of the three and considered by some as the bad ending. There’s no denying that this is what the writers considered the true ending of this game. Everything has led up to this point. From extremely subtle hint in the first playthrough, the text at the end, and the subsequent playthrough. Sometimes your protagonist isn’t the hero of justice who will always pursue the goal of saving everyone, one that might be an aimless and horrible obsession that is impossible to achieve, but still noble nonetheless. Sometimes said obsession is extremely selfish, even if it goes against what they presented themselves as and compromise the life of everyone else. It became a dilemma for Iori right at the very end. Living unsatisfied doing the right thing, or risking your life and die happily indulging in your hidden vices. He was never kind, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t do the right thing, yet the key to his dream is right in front of him. It becomes even more tragic with how much others came to admire him, and yet that part of himself that he tried to kept hidden cause so many heartbreaks.
@joelsasmad
@joelsasmad 6 месяцев назад
I just realized something. I kinda had a hope in my heart that Irori might find fulfillment by becoming a servant... but that actually wouldn't make sense foe this Iori. In the other endings he presumably goes on to live a life relatively similar to the irl Miyamoto Iori, and as a result becoming a figure at least somewhat remembered by history that could possibly become a servant. This Iori though, he died young and relatively unknown.

@@joelsasmad Don't get me wrong, it's certainly possible to find happiness by the sword. Just look at Musashi. However, Iori is a psychopath. His trickery worked on me for 100 hours, even after the game told me he was a bad guy for half of them. I hope you understand how deep the cut was for me. Still, I care for this character very much. It's just that I want his wish crushed. I want Kaya to crush his dream any way possible. If I keep playing, it's like I'm indulging in his fantasy. Edit: I have softened to him since then. Some people made me realize he is more of a confused child than a psycho; this last part could even be seen as a coping mechanism to explain rationally his thirst for combat and victory that isn’t fit for this era. It makes more sad and pitiable than detestable. So yeah, I changed my mind -still hate how the ending goes though, it feels unnatural.

You know, I think a good next step into this yawning abyss would be Witch in the Holy Night, also known as Mahoutsukai no Yoru. It isn't Fate, but it is in the Nasuverse, it requires basically no pre-existing knowledge on the lore, it is quite recent, it is beautiful, it has become very easely accessible in the last year, and more important it is really really good. So yeah, that would be my next Nasuverse recommendations.

An understated part of this ending: Iori still had a command seal left. Whether it was because he wanted Saber to put him down, or because he wanted a proper duel, he was still holding back the whole time. He could have used that seal at any moment to immediately end the fight, but instead he chose to counter Saber with his own swordsmanship. I just think thats interesting.

One could say this ending was inevitable when Iori got involved with the waxing moon and servants. Had he not he would simply have faded away as his swords remained unused. Unlike the other routes where he remains shackled and wastes away, this is the route where he makes choice he himself desires.

The ending sequence of this game easily solidified it as my Game of the Year for 2023, especially over Tears of the Kingdom where I felt things ended a little too sappily. To see Iori's story come to this conclusion was one of the most beautifully tragic conclusions to a character and relationship arc I've seen in a JRPG. The whole final sequence, with the dramatic music playing and the battle happening, while Iori and Saber was poetic about eachother, speaking in a calm, almost loving tone of voice as they try to kill eahcother. It might seem like Iori is betraying Saber.. but I honestly disagree. Iori's bond with Saber has become so personal, and so trusting, that the only person he trusts with seeing the darkness inside of him IS Saber. Not the legend Yamato Takeru, but Saber themself. In the first two endings, Iori calls out to "Takeru" to unleash their noble phantasm and destroy their mutual foes. This is certainly satisfying in its own way, but the fact Iori specifically calls them "Saber" here is what stands out most to me. In chapter 4, after Iori learns their true identity, Saber says "Call me Saber" to him. It's not out of a surface level embarrassment at the name or any kind of rivalry, but an acknowledgement. SABER is who they are. TAKERU is what they were forced to live as. Just as Iori was forced to live as a man of peace in an Edo without war, Saber was forced to live as a bloodthirsty swordsman in an Edo surrounded by it. Saber is much more than a friend or a lover, Saber is Iori's *mirror.* From the very start of the game, it's Iori that holds Saber back from causing mass-destruction to the surrounding area, and we're led to believe it's because of who they are. But so much of this game is about how people's environments change them - from Shousetsu to Chiemon. Iori and Saber are quite literally the opposite of themselves at the beginning of the game, and as such see themselves within eachother. Saber recognizes that Iori cut off his excess because Saber HAD to cut off theirs. What Saber didn't understand is that Iori was made to accept his. In short, I genuinely believe Iori understood just how messed up his ideology was, and he genuinely wouldn't have let himself embrace his demon if he didn't think Saber would ultimately defeat him. He didn't just trust Saber to defeat him, he trusted Saber to fulfill his wish - the same wish Saber had kept to themselves - the unending desire to meet someone who could empathize with them. Even though it seems like they're complete opposites morality wise. They found solace through each other's tragedy of being born in an era that deprived them of the life they wanted to live. And lying together under the light of the waxing moon, they both found the peace of mind they'd been looking for their entire lives. (As a side note: Even the cutscene of Iori practicing his swordsmanship foreshadows the ending, I want to believe in chapter 2 or 3. Iori was already practicing to counter Saber's swordsmanship - the move which had mesmsrized him more than anything else - from the very beginning. The thrust attack Saber does in that cutscene mimicking Iori's is the exact attack Saber uses to defeat him - the move that Iori came up with to counter Saber's noble phantasm.)

One thing I loved about all the hand drawn scenes with the flashbacks for the characters, because it's a Koei Tecmo game, they remind me a lot of Team Ninja's own Nioh Series and the Guardian Spirit Division videos from those games. All you need is the theme of Nioh for some of the important Yamato Takeru scenes and it may as well be a Nioh 3 of sorts, lol.

They are named the Fate, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven Feels routes, the UBW route is probably the most accessible if you want to react to the anime, as the Fate anime is quite old and Heaven Feels in the form of movies that kinda assume you watched at least UBW.

And with the passing moon, we end another LP, and one I was so happy to recommend in the comments after Death Mark. I'm glad you enjoyed your quick introduction to Fate, and hopefully the 1st VN (Fate/Stay Night will interest you in the future, after Persona and Final Fantasy). However since I mentioned those upcoming games, we don't have much time for alot of the possible games I would recommend since the latest date for Final Fantasy Rebirth is Feb 29th, then I think we could get prob aim for something more mid sized for one of the LP slots. As such, I'mma cope and try to sell you on Chaos;Head Noah! As you may have noticed by the ; in the name, Chaos;Head Noah is part of the universe set in Steins;Gate as part of the larger Science Adventure series, and is likewise the 1st game in the series (Technically, as the Noah part of the name indicates its actually the rerelease of the 1st game Chaos;Head with added features missing from their 1st release). Being the 1st in the series, its quite possibly the shortest game in the series, and likewise has a very noticeable feel/atmosphere compared to the later games in the series, and while the game can be quite jarring especially considering the protaginist is vastly different from what you might suspect, its still a beloved game that kicked started this franchises which still gets new games to this day (Heck we have a new Steins game in the future coming in a few years from now. Still, due to the issue with length and needing the game to be finished by Feb, I do think a fair bit of episodes may need to stick with being longer videos (Like between an 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours) and likewise Chaos;Head Noah works best with downloading the Fan Translation patch(From Commitee of Zero) after buying it that fixes alot of terms/issues with the offical release (Easy enough to install with a quick google search), its a fair bit of needing to commitment, but I do think enough time would be available to finish the game without needing to rush too much and beating this game would allow you to venture fourth and experience the greater depths of this series of excellent games, as Chaos Head Noah truely is a unique and cool experience to see with a gripping story and constant twists and turns, and now would be quite an excellent time due to alot of the Science Adventure games being on sale on steam for around 12 dollars. And if still unsure due to either length of time til the Feb releases or having some more LP consideration in your plate, then I would still say to keep on open mind about potentially checking the game out in the future.

So to detail the types of games Fate has. Visual Novels - Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Ataxia Turn-base RPGs - Fate/Extra and Fate/Extra CCC Musou - Fate/Extella and Extella Link Anime - Fate - Unlimited Blade Works, Fate - Heaven's Feel, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Zero and much more, including some adaptions of the mobile game Mobile game - Fate/Grand Order Then there is the light novels and mangas, which are a ton. But honestly while this is a lot, much of it is very old. Like for Extra its best to wait for a remake of that series, which is in the work. The visual novel though, Fate/Stay Night is a classic though. While the anime is probably good alternatives, since Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel are adaptions of two of the games three routes, i;d honestly would still recommend it but the choice is yours for whatever you think would make better content on your channel. This is your job after all and visual novels are a commitment, at least more then anime. Still hope this helps you. I'm glad you enjoyed Samurai Remnant. As a long time fan of the series I tip my hat to ya.

So first of all, I am really glad that you liked this game despite its flaws. To be honest, I was afraid that Fate series wasn't going to be your thing but thankfully I was wrong. I personally say this is one of the best Fate games I've ever played (as in an actual video game, not a visual novel). The story is really good and to see some of the servants from not only in Fate Stay Night and in FGO but the new ones like Zhou Yu, Aria, Samson, Yoshinaka, and Takeru made me like this game even more (and hopefully we get to see them in FGO). Second, if you're interested on doing another playthrough of other Fate series, you'll be playing mostly visual novels like Fate Stay Night. You can watch the anime version (which I do recommend the UBW route or even Heaven's Feel than the original adaptation by DEEN because Ufotable really nailed it better). There is Fate Extra CCC where there is gameplay......but I'm pretty sure you're not gonna like said gameplay. And there's FGO.....which I don't recommend since even though the story is really good, you're going to be grinding to have an easy playthrough (plus you might need to spend money since it's a gacha game) but I do recommend watching FGO Babylonia which one of the singularities in the game and since you like Gilgamesh, you're gonna like him even more this show. The problem with watching it is that the Babylonia arc is the 8th singularity and you might miss some details of other singularities that will be mentioned but I do think that you can watch FGO Babylonia as it is (plus you will get to know Mash which the main heroine).

Iori, you were the Samurai Remnant all along! Getting this a day early was great. I won't go into an essay about this ending and why it's the True ending for me, but it really is what elevates the game's story from very good to great. To put it into perspective for a new fan, this ending is a very good example of what makes Fate great. THIS is the narrative core of the entire franchise, or at least for the main works. Not the tragic ending, that's actually pretty rare, but instead the clash of wishes and ideals. I mentioned it in a previous video, but that's what makes me love Fate more so than any of the great action scenes or cool characters. Having so many different characters with very different viewpoints, cultures, and histories confront each other is what really makes Fate stand out. So gushing aside, I'll join the bandwagon of giving out advice for moving forward through the series, whenever you decide to do that. Stay Night is to me the absolute core of the series. Not just because it's the best one, but because it's also the foundation where everything else stands on. It's hard to find entries that don't spoil anything or reference the original in some way. Yes, it's really long, like about 80 to 100 hours. However, because it's three big routes that are distinct from each other (though they build off each other, meaning that they must be played in one specific order), one nice option is treating each one as a separate game and take a break between them. The ufotable animes of the second and third route are really good, I love them enough to recommend them on top of the VN, but you miss out on some nuance and scenes, especially in the third one. Still, for those that aren't big fans of reading visual novels, there's the option of reading just the first route (because it never got a fully proper anime) and then watching the animes. After that, you just need to watch Fate/Zero and then read Fate/hollow ataraxia and you're done!...with what I call the main core of Fate (which actually includes the only two visual novels). After that you're free to experience everything else in whatever order you want as long as you respect sequels. However, for those that need more convincing, or want gameplay, look forward to Fate/Extra Record in the (hopefully) near future. That's the remake of the PSP game Fate/Extra, which started its own subseries and I consider the only other spoiler safe entry point. The original is still fun and playable as long as you don't expect too much depth from the combat system, but at this point it's probably better to wait for the remake, it looks SO good. Finally (sorry), there's the rest of Type-Moon and the nasuverse, where you don't have to worry as much about orders and spoilers. You can play Witch on the holy night (now on Steam!) at any time and love it whenever you do. Tsukihime, its second biggest series behind Fate, will also be getting its remake officially released in English next year and it's also amazing. Both visual novels, the former a lot shorter than the others. Kara no Kyoukai is the other important entry that's also really good, but that one's a light novel that got adapted into a series of ufotable films, the first of their kind. For Nico's copyright safety, I'd stick to the games lol Personally, I don't need a full rabbit hole dive, just this LP already made me very happy, but if Nico ever plays some or all of what I've mentioned here, I'll be satisfied for life. Grand Order has some really great chapters, but I won't ever ask anyone to go through gacha hell.

This game had 3 main writers, and it's not too hard to identify who wrote what when you know each of their styles: Higashide loves to have the player run around all over the place and have random spontaneous events happen that are somehow important to the story, and he sometimes executes this well, and sometimes doesn't. Higashide's signature story elements are Furry Characters, and very specifically Circe. So he's probably responsible for Rogue Rider and Rogue Caster in this game. Sakurai was confirmed to be the lead writer of the 3 for this game-- it makes sense too. Samurai Remnant was essentially confirmed in an interview with Nasu pre-release to be something of a Grand Order spinoff, and comparing it to Sakurai's works in Grand Order, this story along with the stories of "Seven Heroic Spirt Swordmasters, Shimousa", and "Hell-Realm Mandela, Heian-Kyo", that Sakurai worked on in Grand Order, make up a thematic 'Trilogy' of sorts. There are many themes and ideas that are shared between their stories, interconnecting the 3 plots, not literally but purely through thematics. Sakurai's writing style is infamous for being a massive coinflip-- she either writes some of the most tearjerking and emotional rollercoasters of stories ever, in a manner much like SR's overarching story, or... she... to put it this way: the first story she ever wrote in Grand Order, called "Septem", was considered so atrociously bad that it permanently damaged her record as a writer, and even before it tarnished her record publicly, she was lamenting online about how much she wanted to rewrite the whole thing. The characters she was most likely responsible for were probably most of the regular servants in this Grail War, Rogue Saber, and probably Rogue Assassin. Kinoku Nasu, despite being the heart of Type-Moon and all of Fate media as a whole, his role in this story as a writer was the most limited. Nasu was definitely the one who wrote a lot of Musashi's stuff-- even though Musashi's involvement in the plot is almost definitely because of Sakurai, Nasu has been confirmed as Musashi's writer for years now. Additionally, there's almost a guarantee Nasu is the one who wrote Iori, and also probably Chiemon. Nasu, like the other writers has his fair share of unique techniques and tropes that he does for his writing-- unlike Sakurai or Higashide, barely any of them were put on display in this game, although, if they were-- you _probably_ wouldn't be playing this game... there are 2 tropes you get to see in this game though: First, is that you get to see Nasu's signature "Near Side/Far Side" style of writing. The Near/Far thing is a matter of how Nasu can change literally the exact same story to be essentially completely different on a subsequent playthrough. Samurai Remnant only scratches the surface of Nasu's "Near/Far" though, so I'm gonna leave that, there. Second, and more importantly: Nasu's most influential trope on this story-- "Mental Illness". Nasu has _many_ claims to his fame and his style, but by in large, one of his most influential, is the way Nasu manages to very carefully, and very aptly address different and severe Mental Illnesses. You can see this quite prolifically throughout both Chiemon and Iori's respective character stories, as well as quite a bit in Saber's-- although I'm not sure if Saber was written by him or Sakurai admittedly; same with Ototachi. Chiemon's story of trauma, and Iori's story of his "Way of the Sword" are both arcs that fall squarely within Nasu's field of expertise. Additionally, Rogue Archer, Rogue Lancer, and Boss were probably among Nasu's picks for characters he wrote in this story. As for who _the fuck_ wrote Samson; I have no idea, it could be any of them.
@AusSP

Nope. Seven writers, including Type-Moon's Sakurai and Higeshide. No Nasu - he was only in a supervisory position. Though, yes, Nasu created Musashi, and probably gave feedback on her writing, he is not credited as a main writer for this.

imo sakurai's bad reputation is a bit undeserved. I don't think Septem or Heian-kyo were very good either, but the former was Chapter 2 of a tie-in mobile game that came out on Day 1 before they even knew if it'd be successful, and the latter...just feels so weirdly rushed at the end that it feels more like they had to release it incomplete to meet deadlines. I don't solely blame her for it.

@@AusSP interesting, I was not expecting this. My guesses were based purely on their respective styles, and I was previously told that Higashide, Sakurai and Nasu were the only 3 behind this, but ok-- that's interesting. @@RudiMyDear So, apparently the original plan was to have the Koei writers do most of the work, but Sakurai and Higeshide got so involved in the details that they got writing credits. From what I understand, the project started because someone on Koei's side (Kou Shibuasawa) wanted it, as they were a fan of FGO and Musashi in particular. I don't think I can post the link, but there's a fan-translated 4Gamer interview that goes into a lot of detail. Here's a relevant chunk: > Quote start Sakurai: Please understand that the process was different for each section, so what I'm about to say doesn't apply to everything, but... first, Higashide and I produced the character profiles, the lore, and the general plan for the plot, and from that, Koei Tecmo composed the first draft of the plot. That then passed through our supervision and rewrites, and then Nasu entered as the final proofreader. Nasu: At the time of our conversation, my part in FGO was already set in the schedule, so I told them we couldn't have a fully Nasu-written game. But in exchange, I promised to give my lore ideas and thorough supervision. And for that, I added FGO's 2 main writers to the team and did everything Notes Inc. could. Sakurai and Higashide were the real supervising directors but I looked over everything at the end of the production line. Higashide: You say that but Sakurai did a lot more than I did. Sakurai: The protagonists Iori and Saber were characters on my side of the roster, so there was so much for me to proofread and rewrite. Higashide: My role was proofreading for the Higashide-original Masters and Servants. And checking for Type-Moon lore errors, which was something Sakurai also did. Sakurai: I rewrote so much of the script that I got mine and Higashide's names added to the Writer section of the credits, in addition to our place in the Story Director section. Considering Koei Tecmo's participation, there's no clear-cut answer for who wrote each chapter. The chain links are in too close proximity to each other. > Quote End

It's one of those beautifully done characters where you think this kind of choice was impossible, but when you look back, as Saber said, "it was the only choice" they could make. It definitely reminded me of a similar feeling I had from SnK/AoT. In general, the characters where you revisit their stories after your perspective is altered and go "they really were like this the whole time" are really excellent. So, Nico, if you were to look into other parts of the Fate Series or the Nasuverse in general. You have a lot of options. Many of which are friendly to new fans such as yourself while others would require knowing some stuff before hand. One of the installment in the Nasuverse is Carnival Phantasm which acts as an unique crossover between Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night. And as such requires you to know about Tsukihime and have seen FSN's Fate route(either via the original Visual Novel or via the 2006 anime, your pick). Another part which is new fan friendly is "Witch on the Holy Night" which actually is a prequel to Tsukihime that released back in 2012. And with how Tsukihime has its remake it is possible for you to experience both anytime you want. But remember, walls of text will be included and that these pieces of work doesn't include servants. And finally, there are the adaptions of the different parts of FGO's first story arc. Fate/Grand Order First Order, a movie which adapts the prologue but is also a seperate timeline because Fate. The Camelot movie, adapting Chapter 6 of the game's first story arc. The Babylonia anime, is chapter 7 of the game and came out before the Camelot movie. And finally FGO Final Singularity-Grand Temple of Time which is the movie adaption of 8th and final chapter of the game's first story arc. -Please note, that the four non animated chapters of the first Arc are stuff you can just as your mods about. Since they can give you the details about them. Maybe they'll make either a slide show or a video for you that's easy to understand. But its your mods, they'll both educate and troll you.

Compared to only Fate visual novels where the routes can get massively different its more restrained here due to format. To get more varied routes probably require a much bigger budget I feel.

man this was a fun let's play to watch Nico. I am happy and scared that you have dip your toes into the Fate and even the Nasuverse franchise. I was there when you dive into Kingdom Hearts and I was there when you discovered Yakuza and I was there when you began your quest in the Legend of Zelda. I can't wait to enjoy this ride.

Merry Christmas Nico! A bit of a late comment, but nyeh, who cares! I'm extremely glad you enjoyed a lets play of this god-tier game, and am glad to hear you enjoyed your foray into Nasuverse. It's was great watching you experience Samurai remnant as well. When it comes to experiencing more of the series, you've pretty much got the gist already. The first Fate game, Fate/Stay Night is as you said, a Visual Novel. A BOOK. A vn with 3 different routes, which are the Stay Night route, Unlimited BladeWorks route and the Heavens Feel route. Now, if you do feel like a repeat of Steins Gate or SG0 isn't what you're looking for, I'm glad to recommend the anime adaptations too, they're honestly a rarity as VN adaptations go, since they're a 10/10, EXCELLENT way to experience the stories as well. Fate/ Unlimited Bladworks anime series by Ufotable and the trio of Heavens Feel movies are more god tier media I always recommend to everyone. While there are people who would mist likely prefer following along a Lets Play of the SOURCE source material, I'm sure EVERYONE would just as gladly watch you react to the anime adaptations, just like we did with JoJos, and the HunterxHunter series. I feel like I should mention, however, that while the 2nd and 3rd route of the original VN have excellent adaptations, the adaptation of the first VN route, named Stay Night route, was releases muuuch MUCH longer back ago than the others(back in 2006, whew! So it's about 18 years old by now.) , by a studio with lot less budget, and an adaptation of the story that isn't quite accurate and as faitful to the story than later adaptations. In the end, how, when and I F you wanna experience the other Fate franchise is up to you. I'll be following along with baited breath to see if either a watch-along like the HxH and Jojo series type NicoB vid, or a read along the likes of Steins Gate (still my favourite lets play of yours) NicoB vid, will bless my inbox. Can't wait to see more of SMRPG and can't wait to discover what the new lets play will be of. Have a nice end of the year, and a blessed new year going forward! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE YEARS OF VIDEO YOU'VE GIFTED US!

Merry Christmas and congratulations on your first ever fate run! To be fair, i kinda like the other two endings, simply because those have gotten to a point where while their desires werent met, there are some character endings that were nice to see journey on alive and well. This ending for sure got there desires, but i know for a fact both Iori and saya are both hit with sadness on the outcpme of it all.

Yeah, god, the ending is so damn good. You know it's what the story was leading up to the entire time the moment you see it, it just makes so much sense and feels so thematically appropriate. I've really enjoyed going through dumb and cool Fate lore with you and the comments section. It's always so fun to see someone getting into something I've also gotten into for the first time. And a whole community here feeling the same way made every episode exciting to go to. Once again I hope you go back and look at the logbook, they update all the profiles with some juicy lore and explanations for some of the things that are just inferred if you want to make sure your guesses were on the right track.

I really enjoyed this, im glad you enjoyed it too. And yeah with the ending it is really good. My favorite thing from this playthrough was anytime aria showed up your reactions were great, tamamo is my favorite servent so it especially amused me. I can only imagine what you'd think of the others, especially when they make "that" face, maybe I'll see it if you play the fate extra remake (you know if it's still a thing) As for your servent guessing honestly I'd give you 3 correct guesses, you where pretty close with circe i was honestly shocked how you where in the right ball park with that.

I find it kinda easy to guess circe by design and by the stuff she said. Imo, caster and archer were the hardest ones.

I agree with "this ending makes sens" not with, it's the best ending. it's touching and indeed resolve the remaining questions and underlying issues. but as scenic as it could be, or just emotion wise... that was OK. To be trully great, Iori should have used his last command spell and tell Saber to fight him as his opponent. So Saber would be free to fight without regret AND (as the story tells with other masters) having no command spells left, he wouldn't be threaten to be stopped or something else. EVEN FURTHER, this could show that Iori would only wanted the fight, the power of the command spell over the security of the waxing moon, beeing just a means to an end that wasn't his real wish. At that moment, it would've made the fight so much more important. Saber unshackled, Iori bounded by his principle. Both at the edge of their blades ready to end it all / for different reasons. But hey... maybe i'm asking too much or maybe ppl with less interest in deep emotions like Iori has, would actually care. TBH, i actually felt Iori's emotions as a character but also as a human. I felt more than most ppl would, because i can relate to some aspect of his wish. so again, perhaps it's just me who asks more because my greedy hearts still feel the thirst of which this story made me drink from.

From what I hear, Fate games don't have a singular "true ending" to them. They're all just endings which encapsulate certain parts of the story the writer/writers wanted to convey. So they're all "canon" yet at the same time, none of them are "canon".
@AusSP
@AusSP 6 месяцев назад
Fate's dedication to "endings and sequels" is pretty loose. If it has a sequel, it's more likely to avoid the original ending for the sake of having more plot threads. Haha, Fate/Extra CCC would be pretty weird if it followed directly after Fate/Extra's ending.
