My mother was a Frank Fan from her Bobby Sox days. In her later years she inherited a decent sum of money, which she vowed to spend on having fun. One of her splurges were front row tickets to see Frank at The London Palladium, a literal dream come true, when he blew a kiss her way. I must have listened to this track a 100 times growing up. Nobody had timing like Frank. ✌️

During WWII my uncle was stationed at Gander AFB in Labrador, and was responsible for taking care of the USO acts that were on their way to Europe. He met Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., among many others.

Another act you should check out are the Mills Brothers, a black jazz quartet that got their start around the late 20's. Some of their songs to react to would be Paper Doll, You Always Hurt The One You Love, Glow Worm, Till Then, Bye-Bye Blackbird. They worked with Lous Armstrong. They also appeared in films and had a radio show in the 30's.
With their love for The Bee Gees, they should know that as kids they grew up hearing their dad play The Mills Brothers on the record player and learned harmonizing by listening to them.

Nothing better than Frank singing a Nelson Riddle arrangement of a Cole Porter song!!! Mr Porter was one of the best songwriters ever, penning both music and lyrics. Possibly the most famous of Sinatra/Riddle/Porter collaboration is I've Got You Under My Skin. One of Frank's BEST!! You should also listen to the first Sinatra/Riddle teaming, I've Got The World On A String. You'll LOVE the swinging song!!!
This song was written by Cole Porter who was a composer and song writer who composed around 300 songs between the 20s and late 50s. There is a tribute album to some of Cole Porter's most famous songs, and U2 actually does a cover of this song that is pretty cool. It's on an album called Red Hot + Blue. So many other cool covers on that album from Annie Lennox, David Byrne from Talking Heads, Sinead O'Connor, K.D. Lang, the Neville Brothers, Lisa Stansfield, and others.
Another excellent Porter collection is the old Verve record Ella Fitzgerald did. 'Ella Sings Cole Porter", she also did a Gershwin one. There available in other forms but I still have my old records.
I'm a rocker and love heavy metal music, but Frank Sinatra has the greatest singing voice in my humble opinion. Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist, Mark Tremonti, recently did an album of Frank Sinatra songs. He has a great singing voice and sounds uncannily like Frank.

I was raised with this music playing in our home, my Dad was a huge fan of Frank, but also, Sammy Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and the big band sound like Artie Shaw. I inherited the enthusiasm for these and along with my own music of the 60s 70s, I have a full collection of the Chairman of the Board, from his early years with the Tommy Dorsey band right up to the 90s. I love to put on my headphones curl up with a book and listen to my music.

Listening to Sinatra takes me back to how my Dad would love to listen to Frank's early work. When he would sing on TV in his later years my dad would always remind me how great is earlier work was. And he was right.
My parents loved Sinatra but I didn't appreciate him until I was older. When my Mom had Alzheimer's, she didn't remember her husband or anything about her life but she sang every word of every Sinatra song until the day she died. Music is the answer. Now that you have heard this song you need to give another listen to LRB's "Reminiscing". The chorus starts "And a Porter tune - made us dance across the room." After the main vocals say "tune" there is a subtle additional background vocal saying "Night and Day" and there are synthesized horns as well. Cole Porter's "Night and Day" made it across 56 years (1932 to 1978) to thrill music fans. Amazing. Peace out.

Amber if you want to hear horns, there's a wonderful horn section in the middle of Frank's "I've Got You Under My Skin". But, you have to listen to the recorded version with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. POWERFUL!

I was born in the 70' s so I was privileged to experience Frank on various tv shows growing up but my real Frank education was radio shows by an amazing Frank Sinatra aficionado Sid Mark. Sid Mark had a radio show called Friday' s with Frank & Sunday's with Sinatra. I use to listen to these programs every week & my relatives use to say where do you come from you must be recarnated listening to Frank Sinatra @ your age ? This song is from what many regard as Sinatra's classic period in the 1950's. His voice was around it's peak and he produced a series of classic albums filled with songs by the greatest composers of the "Great American Songbook". Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, so, so many. And the man leading that fabulous band was the great Nelson Riddle. It's his stunning arrangement you hear here, as on so many of Sinatra's songs and albums from this period. Riddle was an arranger of genius and his work can be heard backing other great singers of this time such as Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole.

This one is indeed special: it's Sinatra's best-ever recorded version of one of the great Cole Porter's very best tunes, sung at the peak of his vocal powers, over a stellar Nelson Riddle arrangement, played by an absolutely killing studio band. It's a cliche but, when it comes to mid-20th century American pop, it's quite accurate to say: It simply doesn't get much better than this.

Nelson Riddle, who did most of the arrangements for Sinatra, left 'spaces' for Frank to phrase lyrics "his" way. Also, FYI, most of Sinatra's recordings were done live in the studio in one take.

For another great Sinatra tune (there are so many), try his '60s recording of "All or Nothing at All" from the 1966 "Strangers in the Night" LP. (Frank also had a hit with it in the 1940s). Another good one from this same album is the marvelous "Summer Wind," which someone else mentioned too. You will love it.

I recommend "High Society" for you to do a reaction. It also stars Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly and features a few well known songs. Another one of his films is "On the Town". Again, I would also recommend this one for you. It has musical numbers and dance routines, and also stars Gene Kelly ( from the film Singing in the Rain).

Not only were the performers "classy", but the audiences exhibited class, enjoying the performance in their seats, mindful of those around them. Sadly, audiences of today, are too often drunk and screaming, jumping up and down, slipping around on spilled beer. As a collective, we need to clean up our act and respect one another more. Since you mentioned Liza Minnelli and musicals and big band music, you guys should watch "New York,New York" on your movie reaction channel. Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Liza as a big band singer of the '40's and '50's who marries a jazz saxophonist played by Robert DeNiro. They match like water and oil but manage to make a go of it for a while. Features much great music from that era with Liza really shining as both a singer and actress. Well worth checking out.

My mam and dad’s favourite artist I listened to all his albums as a kid and grew to love him as much as him to my parents delight . I even do that’s life as my karaoke song 😂
Knowing how much you like the style of Frank (not many don't), you may want to try a more modern take on that style of music. The artist I would recommend is Jamie Cullum who does the classics and his own new songs. Some good classic song versions are "Just One Of Those Things", "I Get A Kick Out Of You", and "What A Difference A Day Made". His good ones to start with are "All At Sea", "Twentysomething", "Photograph", "Wheels", and "High And Dry". He also wrote and performed "Grand Torino" with Clint Eastwood for the movie of the same name.
My personal favorites by Frank are "Summer Wind", "Fly Me To The Moon", and "I've Got You Under My Skin", although I'm also kind of partial to "All I Need Is The Girl" as well.
