Love your podcasts, Rachel and Jessica. A tip my grandma gave me years ago for perfect button attachment on a knitted garment. Lay a toothpick across the holes of your button and sew right over it. It gives a perfectly even layers of stitches with just the right amount of space beneath the button so they don't get pulled down into the garment as Jessica described. Simply slide out the toothpick when finished.
A shawl is actually a “wrap” in France…a better word for it. And they are golden here! Everyone, men and women, wear them everyday, and every evening. They take a chill off, and elevate your look to the next level. They are gorgeous. Don’t store them. 💕🌸
So funny because I forgot I ordered some sock yarn when I was in Florida for the winter till I got home and found I picked a red yarn color. My 15 year old grandson saw it and now wants me to knit them for him❤❤❤❤. I sure will and can’t wait to cast on. Love, love your shawl and love your podcasts❤. Happy Knitting 🧶
I discovered you last week and I’m working my way through your episodes. As always I’m knitting but I’m knitting my own pattern: mitts with a classic cabled braid.
As always I love everything you both make but I especially am in love with the Zamora skirt! I’ve never heard of that pattern designer before and am so excited they have a few cute patterns I now want to make. So thank you!
Congratulations! The Field Day Sweater is at the top of my queue. Your video just popped up on my feed because I watch a lot of knitting when I knit. 😉
You can get a spacer that is used under buttons as you're sewing them on. It's important to have enough space for whatever thickness your fabric has to prevent chafing the thread. It's one of the most common reasons people lose jacket buttons over time.
Such a lovely podcast as always! It's like I'm sitting in a room chatting with you two ☺☺ while watching this today I started learning how to make tatted lace!!!
I’m excited to start on some sewing projects as well, but I also have my fantasy coffee house order coming in today so I’m seeing some socks in my future as well!
Love all the knitted and sewn projects! I never liked short row heels until I discovered creating a mini gusset on the instep. Now the Fish Lips kiss heel (with mini gusset) is my favorite to knit and wear. I’m currently working on a test knit Henley Tee and the Stella quilt cushion. 😊
So many people seem to love the Fish Lips Kiss Heel! I need to give it a try soon!! The Stella Quilt cushion is also on both our lists to make soon! Thanks for knitting with us! 😊🤍
Another great podcast! Love seeing your knitting and sewing adventures. I was completely ‘influenced’ by you ladies to try Coast to Coast sock yarn in red! Am making Summer Lee’s Maines Coast socks in the Rosehip colorway. Love the yarn. Keep the good recommendations coming!!
I only just found your channel, and I love it! Thank you both for sharing all about your FOs and current WIPs, very inspiring. I'm currently working on Promenade Blouse by Caidree, in delicate muted blues. Looking forward to your next episode!
The petiteknit video tutorial for sewing buttons is really helpful! She uses a DPN to create enough space for the button to sit above the button band. I worked on my coast to coast coffee house socks too while watching :)
Rachel, I recently finished a shawl that had the same type of lace border. It’s called Floe. It was ingenious. Love your shawl ❤️. You are both such great knitters.
Hi! Another wonderful episode ♥ I was actually working on the sleeves of the 3rd sample of my Grace Sweater (which is taking me forever & ever to make...so I can relate😁) while watching this episode. Your version looks so beautiful already! You can do it! Looking forward to your next episode! Happy knitting!
Ahh how exciting to have several!! It’s such a beautiful and classic pattern! 🤗💛 I’m working on the sleeves too and I started putting progress markers in so I can see how much I’ve gotten done in a day. It’s making it feel a lot faster! 😅
You can also hold a toothpick between the garment and the button to create a longer button shank which accommodates the thickness of the fabric when buttoned.
Rachel, I love the sewn top you made!! If you wanted to wear it to work, you can put a camisole underneath it, which would make it work appropriate!! Both of you guys amaze me with your sewn projects and make me want to whip out my sewing machine! I am not a seasonal knitter at all, so right now I am working on two blankets and plan to dive into sweater knitting after that!! Thank goodness for air conditioning!! ❤
I think that’s such a good idea!! I think it would too! 😊 I think we have a few summer projects to get out of our system but we definitely plan on keeping some sweaters on the needles through the summer too! 100% thank goodness for air conditioning! 🙌
I am working on simple something using 4 skeins of mostly fsrmers daughter sovk ysrn in a green fade held dounle with wooly knit merino in natural. Loving the effect. Just completed Summer Tee by Crysral Hiatt a using reclaimed cotton blend from a twin set I knit about 30 years ago. I never wore it and made the devision to frog not donate. I shouls have reconditioned the yarn first. Most of the uneveness came out in blocking but not all. Hopefully after next wash and block. It is a comfy summer knit. Will recondition the rest of the yarn. Judt ordered a nostspinne to make this easier. I have not bought any ysrn this yesr. Working my way through a very large stash and enjoying. It is fun yo look for pstterns thst match the yarn I have as opposed to lookong tgrough my stssh for yarn thst will work for a pattern I like. I have bern doing both.
I am knitting alongside your podcast. I only recently discovered you but I love the conversation between the two of you! I would love to become a test knitter at some point, but I do not know where to start. Maybe you can talk about this at some point in the future?
I find most knitters share their test knit application forms exclusively through their email list or Instagram stories/posts. So I highly recommend following and subscribing to their mailing list to sign up to testing for any pattern you are interested in. Test knitting is so fun!
Yes I agree with the first comment! A lot of designers also tend to look for people with knitting instagram accounts or who are active on ravelry so they can see your style and experience with knitting. 😊
I recently made a laulu shawl for my grandmother in a similar colour to the tan of the cardigan/yarn and she reportedly loved it and it was a v fun knit and you prob have enough to make the second size, especially if you hold it with something! Additionally, I totally relate to the knitting something you're not gunna wear for a hot minute as im in the middle of an all over cable sweater in a wool DK
Love all the things you make! Your beautiful sewing really make me want tp start sewing again. Unfortunately I really don't have the life to wear these gorgeous pieces. Obviously there are still clothes that I could make and wear. Your pieces are just so pretty (and you wear them so well!) I am working on the first shoulder of my Cardigan No.9 in a very, very dark brownish green similar to Sandnes Garn "Into the Woods". My yarn is merino/angora/cashmere blend from Colourmart.
@@thosetwinswhoknit I know! Thats why I had to mention it. I love that colour too but only had a hat in it. You two inspired me to stock up on a Sunday sweater quantity when it was discontinued. But then I saw that aran weight yarn at colourmart and had to have it. An aran weight cardigan is completely different from a lighter weight sweater right? You can have both right?? 😁🤣
Always a good day when we get a new podcast episode from y'all! Rachel, did you hold the suri double for your Cumulus Blouse? I know some people do and some don't when they use suri instead of mohair and love how yours turned out!
I did hold it double! I should clarify that! 😅 it turned out so soft and fluffy! I bet if you held it single it would give more of the look mohair has. :)
Hi Ladies fabulous podcast thank you 😊 you are both so industrious with your projects and fun to watch .I have recommended you to another podcaster who I admire Diane of the Island Lamb, she is also inspirational with her knitting 🧶 Happy knitting, have a great week 🧶🌺
Thank you for another lovely episode ❤ I'm knitting the Petiteknit Esther sweater in white (the recommended yarns). Turns out lovely but it's taking a slow knitter like me forever :D (add two small kids to that so my time is limited 😊)
Another great podcast ladies. I have to admit Jessica I agree with your sister I love the socks with the stripes. Atleast on my monitor it looks pleasing. I just have to say the photography for your finished objects is outstanding. Especially the one where Jessica models her skirt and boots shot on the coast.
It kind of depends! Rachel has more closet space so she leaves her knits folded nicely all year long. I don’t have much space to have all my winter and summer things out at the same time, so I often to store sweaters in plastic boxes in a closet over the summer and then wash them when it gets closer to cold weather again! We’d love to hear what other people do though! ~ Jess
Yes!! Hi from Rachel! 🤗 I actually have yarn I am thinking will become a ranunculus one day! I am super curious because I think it’s a beautiful pattern but I’m not sure what makes it more popular than other patterns.
