Hello, this video has finally made me realise there is one book I would like to purchase the Crowley Tarot book to accompany the Thoth tarot. For 6 months I have intuitively used this deck but now it's time to add a bit of study. I love the Hierophant card, it is the first time I have ever connected to this card across any style of deck. It's a beautiful card that shows you finding a knowledgeable person to guide you on your path. They hold a key to unlocking from deep within and awakening a consciousness. I always saw the Hierophant in a religious leader scenario yet this image totally opened up a new door. It's my favourite for sure! Had to giggle when you found the strength card! 🤭 Thank you for an enlightening video.
I can’t believe I missed this vid!! Bout halfway and yesss mirror of the soul lives in my backpack and goes everywhere with me and I’ll use it for other decks as well. It’s so beautiful. I think I mentioned this in my last video. Love the idea of you adding the angel messages to your book! Ooo yes show me what you haaate now lol
Mirror of The Soul is a great book! I’ve had the Crowley Tarot Handbook on my wish list for awhile. You definetley helped me choosing my next book on Thoth tarot! I only knew Gerd Ziegler, which is wonderful, so wise and helpful! I just needed more information about symbolism, more concrete information, so I'll definetley get the book by Akron and Banzhaf. 👍👌🙏🌟
Love your channel and your videos! Just wanted to throw in some english words you can use in place of "curate" that may work better for the context you're describing. "Weeding" is a good one. So you'd say you're weeding your collection. The same way you weed your garden to remove unwanted plants. There's also "decluttering". You're decluttering your collection. And lastly a less common but still good one is "culling." Culling your books. Culling your tarot collection. Great video! Just added a couple new books to my wishlist!
I've only ever used the Rider Waite based decks before. But been looking into whether I should also begin to learn the Thoth tarot also. This video was super helpful in my decisions regarding guidebooks for Thoth. Thank you! As a side note, I have the book on Rider Waite Tarot by the authors Johannes Fiebig & Evelin Burger, exact same layout as the book you have only for the Waite system! When I next go to it, I'm going to more sceptical with what it says now!
I have only recently gotten into the Thoth Tarot, but I am already obsessed and loving it. I want to dive into every detail. This video was so helpful in deciding what book to get first on my journey. The Crowley Tarot: The handbook To The Cards, sounds perfect for what I want.
crowley put most of his occult knowledge in his tarot deck, it was the last thing he did and he took it seriously, it was the culmination of his life work, so yes all that stuff in that book means something

I'm only 20 minutes in and felt the need to comment, lol. The books you mentioned are brilliant. I haven't touched the Thoth for a while, but really thinking about bringing it back into my life. The Mirror of the Soul is so poignant and has brought me to tears multiple times. I actually just rescued it from my "book donation black hole" that's residing in my car lol. Same with the Book of Thoth which I would like to use as reference. You're completely right...you don't NEEEED a book to read the cards effectively, but they're awfully fun to have if you want them 💛
@@SylvainsDeadlySins Oh I wanted to add one more thing! I felt the same way about Tarot Deciphered and felt like their podcast (Fortunes Wheelhouse) to be more informative. But, what I loved even more than that book was Tarot Wisdom by Rachel Pollack.

Really enjoyed this! I guess I find myself somewhere in the in between of wanting know some things but not so much that it's unfun and overwhelming 😅 I wouldn't have started off with the Duquette book, either, in retrospect.
I Am missing the Gerd Ziegler & have kept your same keepers 🧙🏼. Lon had been approached early on by Weiser to pen this book. His extensive knowledge of Crowley sealed the deal as he met with them in Chicago. Mr. DuQuette really didn't have much say lol, they basically spoke to him that he must take this on. Besides, he is old school, in touch with many heavy hitters. These folks are most instrumental in bringing Ceremonial Magick & Esoteric understanding to the West. Certainly a decent copy of Ziegler won't be too difficult to acquire. Thank you for this perspective and I do concur with your recommendations kind Sir ✨ blessing ✨

Hands down.. Duquette’s book IS the Thoth book for me. It was the first book highly recommended when I first started working with the Thoth deck. LOVE his humor and his *non over processing* of the Thoth. For me the book is straightforward and gives enough information to work with. ❤️🔥✨🕯
My brain does let me read cards without understanding every single symbol , but it won't let me read the book of Thoth without getting to hate the deck. .... so I decluttered all Thoth things long ago. But now, I've rebought the Thoth deck, had to mod the keywords away, and I read them intuitively, numerologically (my own, not necessarily corresponding to the kabbalistic one), and .... Gerd Ziegler, in case I feel I need more than I can get out of it myself. Maybe I should try the Akron/ Banzhaf book. Btw. Fiebig is a man, Bürger is a woman.

Having a ton of books myself and often finding myself pruning my bookshelves, I appreciate this review. I haven't delved much into Thoth yet, but if and when I do I'll look for the Mirror of the Soul and the Crowley Tarot books. I'm sad to hear that Johannes Febig's contribution to the Thoth literature was so disappointing and perhaps negative in tone. I really enjoy the commentary he made in both Tarot for Magical Times, and for the Dali Tarot, finding them both inspiring and positive. So had I not seen your review, I would have assumed Thoth books with his name on the cover would have followed suit. Thanks for the video!

Maybe a study group going through the Thoth book of symbolisms, and discuss what parts are incorrect and each person can correct the bad information. It would be a great deep dive!

Your knowledge in the Thoth tarot I have always admired, I am very grateful that you DID NOT remove this video, I just saw a video of "Divination Dragon" from May 12, which the title is (The Aleister Crowley Tarot Flip-through). I would very much like to know your opinion of that deck, I find the images pleasant and easy to understand! I just ordered the deck of Thoth by Lady Frieda Harris, but it is Russian for me it was cheaper to acquire it, I am still waiting to receive it. I am NOT a tarot reader, in the year 2020 I lost my mother, and this led me to a search for spiritual understanding, that is how I began to know this magical world of tarot and oracles and it was how I found your channel, There is where I found your recommendations and the best books of Thoth that for me was very interesting. Little by little I have been making a collection of Decks, which I admire for its content and art. I wish you have time to see that video, and give me your opinion. Hello Karina! Thank you for the kind words! I watched the video! 😁 I think that it's a pretty deck, but I can't imagine myself choosing it over the traditional Thoth. I'll stick with the one I know and prefer. Also, no rainbow on the 8 of wands? SHAME!! 😜
In defense of Fiebig - I checked my 9 of swords and the droplets are definitely golden or at best yellow, not green. Might be the printing colours differing between editions, but AGM Urania is like that.
yes you need to know all the information, it enriches your experience and is for inner work, not game-playing fortunetelling for others it is for self reflection you can get some other tarot deck to play games with your friends. serious occult knowledge ,you use this deck

Oooh...love this review...thank you! As a diligent purchaser but lazy reader, I have to rely on intuition/feeling/reaction to supplement my basic knowledge. BUT if I am going to a professional reader, I want them to have full understanding of symbols & systems...not to impress me but in case a symbol might trigger a better interpretation...... so if I read for myself, I know the querent.. but if they dont know the querent, they should know the cards lol. I hope that justifies my laziness😉🤣.... love your videos sylvain🥰x

Goodday, do you now the book: The Thoth Compagnion by Michael Osiris Snuffin, I'm reading this book now and must say, I'm still with the Trumps, but so far it hasn't disapointed me!
Thank you for this video! Saved me a lot of money on the Tarot Deciphered book; it was on my wishlist for a while, and it is not cheap! Strange though that they didn't just use M.Meleen's deck, she made her own version of the Thoth (which I do have some Issues with as well, just as with their views on the cards in their podcast.... ;)
