Like if you're not wearing all black, long hair, lots of tattoos and beard or weird mustache you're looked at as an uncool normie that shouldn't be there, and it's fuckin obnoxious
@@nathandavidhall yeah. I’ve experienced that too. For a demographic that’s supposed to be open-minded, counter culture, anti-establishment and anti-conformist, they sure do try to keep their peers in line!

highlights of some old bands thou dudes have had: 'Flying V guitarist', matthew, and bassist Mitch were in a thrashy metal band called Sugar Cookies that was kind of jokey but they were still really good. had a song named "We got the same dick.' first band i was in was with matthew that was a weird mix of metal, punk, and reggae, called IDKFA. Me and Matthew were also in a black metal band called Barghest but were only the first album. their new shit is pretty sick. 'les paul guitarist', Andy, had an instrumental surf rock/punk band called Spring Break Shark Attack! and he played drums in a fast punk band that played real short songs called "we need to talk." Andys one of those "can play every instrument" types lol. before all that andy was playing drums in a band with matthew called Translation that i loved and is what made me a fan of them two. Mitch had a bunch of indie bands too. Thats how they knew Josh Nee who was Thou's drummer after i left. Brian was in a grindy punk band called Eat A Bag Of Dicks. I hear they had sometimes 10 sometimes 20 people on stage or something, theyd go nuts.
How I love Thou. One of the hardest bands to get in but one of the most rewarding \m/ for the notice, first 2 tracks are heavier versions of the original ones.
@Ben I can see that yeah. I had the "bad" luck of starting with Heathen, which is a massive wall of sound and tough listen. Yet it is a band thata when it clicks it really does.

I just discovered these guys recently and I was wondering where they're from. I find out they're from Baton Rouge and I freak. I live in Baton Rouge. Talk about living under a rock, huh? This is so cool!
I think back then I found them through what defines itself as a subset in a wider genre, I don't know if they still go by self-describing as NOLA-Sound.
@@gulinotm I think I was a bit fuzzy or possibly inaccurate on this, what I meant to say is that I just found Thou through other bands which happened to be from the nola region plus being hosted on the noladiy site (at least back then)
@@Psyfonify The drummers name is Tyler Coburn and he has a band called Yautja, another band called Gnarwhal, and another band Alraune. And not sure if he is still in Mutilation Rites from NYC.
Man...its an awesome band...this multi genre (Doom sludge grunge indie...) happens because besides the LPs they experiment a lot with beyond counting non LP singles and splits with other bands. You can start with last year...where they releases 3 singles before the LP Magus. It wss a Summer of Thou m/
its up to the band, besides a lot of the bands that do decide to do interviews handle it pretty awkward anyways and takes up a lot of time, so its whatever haha

I seen these fellers in a smaller form at a tiny rat hole in Indianapolis back in 2011(ish). They opened for my favorite band coffinworm. Really blew my wig back. I will remember that show for the rest of my life, i reckon. Their drummer was wearing a my bloody valentine shirt and their tone was so well crafted.
