Very nice. It's not an easy piece. I've been messing around with it in soprano range because I had it and why not? Those huge jumps, high As and fast runs are definitely a workout.
I have this loaded on my phone and I sing along with it driving home repeatedly every day. It's a long drive too. I think I sound so good until I lower the volume. LOL. I also looked at the sheet music later and found out William added that ascending scale at the end! I'm gonna keep it.
This is the weakest aria in Messiah, and the one most tenors struggle with. We tend to get a lot of shakiness in most performances of this, slurring/unclear notes and breathy weak tone. This performance is certainly one of the stronger ones I have heard, with good control across the jumps and a good deal of power in the upper register. Well done, this is very challenging.
This song is even more dramatic when you realize that the words were written in the time before ZipLock bags and plastic containers. EVERYTHING was keip in crockery. The thought of smashing a pat with a poker is pretty damned dramatic. Dennis
The anti-satan is coming and this is what he will be playing when he gets behind control of the buttons since there's so many buttons to pick from just wait till DADDY'S DONE...😮😮😮
