Today, with the 10k milestone having been passed a little while ago. Its time for a QnA, from looking into the future of Hoi4, thoughts on other games, other countries, favourites and worsts. Much will be explored today.

Indulge me a little bit here, I've got a question for you guys. What do you like about what I do? Curious as it's one question that I cannot answer, I can speculate on it. But that's all I can do.

I personally like that you give good and generally unbiased opinions on content that Paradox provides. If a path sucks or is broken, you're not afraid to say "Paradox get your shit together". I also just like your content, it's informative whilst also enjoyable to watch. You genuinely know what you're doing, and you seem to enjoy doing what you're doing (which in turn makes your content enjoyable to watch).

I love your informative content on ranking certain country's focus paths. Not every country deserves its own video, but I find myself learning something new about a certain path I would have never known about because the path looks boring on surface level. To add to that, maybe a video on the paths ranked of a region like the baltics where you could group Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania into one video? Overall though, you're informative, easy to listen to, and introduce me to new ideas in hoi4 I can take into my own games. Always love when I see a new video appear!

Why the HELL does Belgium not have an official tree yet? It was a primary war target. No, let's focus on a continent thats 99% neutral, historically speaking

A tiny country and a continent, that's not a good comparison, at least content wise. Paradox has much more opportunities to expand Hoi4 by adding more content to regions like Latin America and the Middle East. The real question we should be asking is why haven't Belgium got a focus tree in previous DLCs?

@luulasmene7786 it's a ww2 sim. Belgium was a PRIMARY player and victim. Chile meanwhile didn't do anything. I'm fine with fleshing out new focus trees. I like the fact that I can explore what if. But an important fact is that you have to polish both sides of your coin. I'm not saying something like "add a focus tree for everyone: I'm saying "don't neglect focus trees in someone who's involved by default"

Austria is another country that should get focus that way isn’t just Hungary or Germany annexing them every game. Instead Paradox gave us a Swiss focus tree, another country that wasn’t directly part of WW2.

For what you said about the German DLC, we could realistically also have a chance for a minor tree for luxembourg no matter how stupid it may seem or whatever PDX calls it but considering how paradox works, ever since AAT, I think they wanna start pushing out the "minor trees" more. Too bad we still consider the Chinese warlords and New Zealand to be national focus trees and not downgraded to minor though

What would think about an ideology rework in the style of Kaiserreich, as it makes democracy far more engaging

Any new ideology needs an actual reason to exist, there's no point splitting Democracy into many different sub-genres if they all play the same, It just would add tons of work for the devs for little benefit. The only new ideology I could see happening is splitting Monarchism off from non-aligned. But again, how would you make it different, gameplay wise from non-aligned? Access to conscription laws? Wargoals? There must be a distinct gameplay difference if such a change is to come.

I think instead of making new ideologies, they should get icons for subideologies, as we see in road to 56 for example. Every ideology has its own subideologies with their own icons. Gameplay-wise it doesn't change much. But it's a cool feature :3

@@BubblesZest Subideology needs to actually matter. If Mussolini puppets Germany, Hitler will still be in power. This makes ZERO sense. If an independent communist country puppets the USSR, Stalin is still in power. ZERO sense. Mussolini would put his cronies into power in Germany, same for an independent communist country.

@@Just8gor Honestly I don’t see Paradox adding sub-ideology icons for all of the sub-ideologies. It would just a cosmetic change that wouldn’t affect gameplay.

I haven't played with any mods, but it is annoying how many HOI4 creators make videos with mod content and don't label it as such, it wastes a lot of time parsing through the content.

How is that an issue? The content is playable, it’s right there, seems a little weird to label it as such when it doesn’t matter.

@@pyroboss1013 how is it an issue that they don't tag their videos with mods? It wastes peoples' time and doesn't allow the algorithm to separate modded from unmodded. Why would you argue that they shouldn't specify the content is modded in the thumb or title?

Man I know you said you have little to no reason to make a video on mods, but how about a video like “what is the point?” on a mod? I recommend/suggest you do one on the Petain path for Nat France in Kaiserreich, I believe you will understand once you play it.

What we should get is a regular ass update (not dlc) that adds new focus trees to nations that really need them and maybe have it so there are two or three generic focus trees to choose from depending on where you are or if you're a colony or your ideology or whatever. The Nations I think that absolutely positively need a focus tree/rework would be Belgium, Ukraine and Belarus, maybe the caucauses, all the chinese nations + japan, SE asia, Australia and new Zealand, middle east, and france

Hope you have fun going forward with this and I'd definitely like a rework to Germany (especially making the focuses "Rhineland" and "Oppose Hitler" no longer mutually exclusive, so you can imagine something like Operation Green, where the military planned to arrest Hitler before he annexed the Sudeten Land, or Operation Valkyrie succeeding) and a German Communist Tree. Not to mention a DLC which I call "The Price of Neutrality" (title based on a history book about Ireland during the WW2 period) giving focus trees to Ireland, Belgium (including an occupation tree allowing for a choice of Obedience or Independence like Manchuria got), Austria (which also should get an Exile tree), Tibet (which should also allow them to proclaim a rival Chinese government and unify China), and spy mechanics allowing the ability to lower stability and war support if you don't have good counter intelligence networks which should be added. I also hope one day they rework the politics system and I am happy to chat with Paradox about this if they wish.

@@BubblesZest the requirements in game are worded weirdly, as in have 5 spies and stage five coups. I never had 5 spies, you only need to stage five coups, it's boring as hell. Build up intel network, boost ideology, lower stability, fire the coup and move onto the next target. But it works. Maybe PDX patched it?

@@apoivre it's not about the requirements or how to do it. Shaken not stirred (couping with a seducer spy) doesn't work on the current version and some people reported the couping with spain also doesn't fire the achievement. If it still does work they were simply wrong. Nevertheless they had some others not working during the different patches like 'Listen very carefully' and the swedish bus achievement.
