thoughts on umechan's marriage 

I didn't mention this in the video bcs this thought came to me later. I've always been a fangirl of something/someone for as long as I could remember. The only thing that changes is my interests. I had my Johnny's idols phase, utaite phase etc. Each fandom has its own drama, for as long as it involves humans. We humans are complex beings. We carry different sides and show them differently to different people. There are sides of ourselves that only our close friends know, and there are sides that nobody except our own self knows. Same goes for celebrities and public figures. It’s easy to assume and conclude this is the type of person Celebrity X is, based on what we see and read but let’s not forget those are the sides that they choose to show. My initial reaction to ume's marriage was shock because it was influenced by the chaotic energy and questionable things he said before which made me assume he doesn't take things really seriously. Marriage is not something you take lightly. And then I am reminded that private lives should be separated from work. If they refuse to share certain parts of their lives, that’s their rights. Who are we to probe any deeper? Don’t hesitate to share with me your thoughts about this ume’s news or about any seiyuu’s marriage in general.

I dislike paparazzi but the photo they took with his wife, where he’s looking so happy with her melted my heart. Even his eyes were smiling. Thousands of fangirls couldn’t have provided this happiness

It's nice to know that even though people say he has an attitude and stuff, he's married and has a private home life. Having a private life is better for celebrities so that they can be safe or live a more normal life. I'm happy for him! Congratulations!

Like one of my friends said, it’s much better to find out that a seiyuu is married & happy than a seiyuu that turns out to be a criminal/abuser. And that’s coming from her experience especially. And mine too.

Imo actually, it seems that he knows he's handsome and on top of that also a very sexy voice. Again, this is only MY opinion but i think Ume is purposefully making a persona of himself in media bcs of this exact reason. Because he's married and want to keep that someone by distancing himself from others (with that persona(?)). And if you think about it though, he's able to keep his marriage for 8 years, that's actually amazing. I didn't like the fact they forced the info out of Ume, but tbh what i feel about him being already married is kind of a happy feeling www He's actually faithful, having someone by his side, supports him all the way and him being able to kept this for 8 years really showing him how professional he is. That's my thought about this :3 Again, congrats Ume-chann.

It's nice to know that the world is changing and these Idols/Celeb are starting to be comfortable about revealing they are with a partner. More fans are supportive and it is being normalized that Idols do have a private life!! And c'mon he is 30 something, it's normal that he is married or at least on a relationship. Wishing him the best!

It's sad that he had to apologise even though he's keeping his personal life private it's the paparazzi's fault that won't mind their own business anyway congratulations to ume!

3:25 - This is how I felt about the Shimono Hiro situation, too. They have a right to keep their private and public lives separate, and it's sad that gossip magazines put so much money into invading other's privacy. Personally, I'm happy to hear about the marriages because I want these awesome people to be able to have a full life outside of work. I love seeing Shiraimu post pictures with his kid on Instagram, for example. Crushes are fine as long as you keep it healthy, as you said in your video.

With all the announcement of other seiyuus around late 20s-early30s announcing their marriage these recent years (plus my sibs too, who are around the same age also getting married) I've come to ask myself when are the others getting married as well? What if, like the other older seiyuus (kakki for instance), they're already married--- what if they have kids already? No doubt, the shock was there but at the same time there was the joy. Like, "omy this person actually has been living out their lives, and they know and they have someone they want to be with for the rest of their lives". It's just so wonderful. and for ume-chan, gosh it's been around 8 years already. I'm just amazed how he got married at his mid-20s. and that they've been together this long already. Also how they're college friends and she has her business (and they're celebrating that day. Imagine how happy they were--until that guys pops out of nowhere and ambushed them with that questions. If there's one thing that upsets me about this matter, is how it surfaced, and how he and other people felt the need for him to apologize. This made me realize that once my fave (even not) seiyuus announce things like this, it truly brings me joy. Even to those of my crush HAHA and whether they keep their lives a private matter is smth that's totally fine with me. Them revealing things about their lives because they have no choice or were forced, and made to apologize --- that would probably be the only thing I'd get upset about. I hope Ume-chan and other seiyuus gets to live their own private lives in their own simple and happy ways (married or not or whatever).....and this comment became longer than I expected and I haven't even started my part in the RRL

I was shocked but not sad, happy for him! Kinda mad that it was revealed by paparazzi and how often this happened. I just found out the same happened to tsudaken and hiro shimono. The hiro shimono one was a surprise (a pleasant one nonetheless) but i just assumed tsudaken was already married lol, i mean he's the same age as my dad 😂 Still looking forward to his performance as the joker. For me, finding out he played the joker has the same effect as learning robert pattinson playing the batman

Ah, so that's how it is (trying to act nonchalantly but crying inside) lol. I agree with how you react to this news, as I have the same opinion on seiyuu's private life. It's kinda saddening tbh when they couldn't reveal their relationship because of fans. On the other hand, it's their choice to publish this matter or not. I'll make some barrier for myself as his work and voice fans, I will continue to support and recommend the works, but might not be fangirling him as hard as before. Appearance aside, I think he has his charming side, like how could he answered quizzes in reality shows maturely? Isn't it due to his experience?! I really hate that paparazzi just CANNOT leave their life alone. He’s keeping his secret and private life sooo welll. I also did not expect it! And when the news came I was effin shocked idk how to describe it. I’m happy but I’m sad that we got to know it because some paparazzi decided to hunt his private life, not Ume telling it to us himself.

You know, I’ve seen Japanese tweets on Twitter with thousands of likes saying they hope other popular seiyuu they like aren’t married after Umehara’s marriage news broke out. The top 3 I’ve seen people be concerned about are Toshiki Masuda, Nishiyama Kotorou, and Eguchi Takuya. And you know, I hate to say this, but ever since I’ve gotten a bit more into male seiyuus, I’ve always thought Toshiki Masuda gives off an idol-type image. Like an certain type of image where, if he ever gets caught dating or gets married, many people will be really upset? Idk he seems like the type of person who tries to maintain ‘perfection’ and doesn’t wanna disappoint his fans. Like at all.🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m happy for him! I think that everyone deserves a chance to be happy and be married and all that! Being a celebrity shouldn’t mean having that be taken away from you. On a side note, I am genuinely impressed he managed to hide it for eight years. I always said that if he gets married I would be so happy for him and I am! My first reaction, seeing the thumbnail was like, “oh my god! Congratulations!” Out loud. I was grinning, as weird as that sounds.

Honestly, i get it if ppl are disappointed and shocked about the news. I think it’s okay to feel that way initially, it can be pretty shocking!! What matters is what you decide to do with those feelings and if you want to stop being their fan for that reason, it’s fine! This is such a great news! So happy for him. Honestly, it's impossible for him (WITH THAT FACE) to be single af. But I agree with what you've said, that the way he potrays himself makes him looks like a "wasted handsome dude" but I've always thought that it's all a concept/image that he pulls off in front of the camera. Most celebrities are like this. I still remember he said on a radio, that his mom told him to be more careful/polite when talking but he just laughed it off and said it's not that serious (means he's just playing around/throwing jokes just to be funny). Maybe because I could separate the Ume who is being open to watching porn or making dirty jokes on camera/record and the Ume beyond those scenes that I could see him being married. For me, being an ikemen doesn't really justify that the person already has a lover. It is the matter of fact that he is an adult (Erik Erikson's Young Adulthood stage, intimacy vs. isolation). So all my time as a fan, I was actually waiting for him to announce. Unfortunately, it had to be announced through paparazzi. Another thing is that, I already had a feeling that he was in a relationship based on how he carried/acted romantic lines and how he answered romantic questions in programs/radios (filter out the perverted ones HAHAHHAHA). I don't know whether it was in seiyuu to yoasobi (with egu) or another program, but check his answer to the question "What is the food that you would like to have on a date?" I swear, his answer had me blushing for days.

My initial reaction was really just "oh wow! good for him!". I've been an Ume fan since Orenchi no Furo Jijou came out, so I'm very happy with what he has now. It's amazing how far he's come along and very happy to hear him on so many anime. I love his face, voice, and energy a lot. All the unhinged he says are the cherry on top ngl HAHA It is a shame that it's because of the paparazzi that his (and many others') big news came to light. It feels violating, but I guess being a celeb comes with that :/ I hope he can get the privacy he needs now, and not it be another Yuzuru Hanyu case... that was really sad.

i was once a fan of an utaite and it was one of the first time i had a crush on a celebrity. i once thought i couldn't bear the news if they ever got in a relationship or married to someone. but after a few years, i heard news of them in a relationship but surprisingly, it didn't bothered me one bit. maybe it's due to myself being a bit more level headed and mature, knowing that it's normal for celebrities to want to have a companionship of their own. if fans can be happy with their own partner, then why can't our faves, right? legit cried of happiness when i found out. I wish for the same happiness for ume-chan as well. almost a decade and still standing strong! now that i'm also into a kpop group, i already knew what to expect and set a boundary as a fan myself. just being happy to indulge myself in their contents and supporting their career while still being respectful of their own private lives. may all of us be happy & content with our lives

I didn't see it coming too. Like I was scrolling twitter to see fan arts like always, then I see an account saying that to commemorate Umehara Yuuichiro's marriage they're going to have give away. I was shocked but happy for him in the same time. But when I learned how we know about this I got pretty sad. I know, being celebrity means you have to let go of your privacy. But it is sad. I just want to say, remember that the Idol we all like is still a living human being with real human feelings and emotion and private lifes too. Just let they do themselves. Because in the end of the day, what we like is their persona on the screen not necessarily the "REAL" them.

This news give me the same feeling as i did when i knew Yuuma got married. As you said.. i had a slight crush on them and the news shocked me. I literally went "EH?! FR?? OH DANG I DIDN'T SEE THE HINT OF THEM DATING OR MARRYING" and then be like. Well.. its them we're talking about.. handsome, nice voice, funny etc.. its not weird for someone to snatch their heart and make it theirs. When you said about your kamioshi *cough* *cough* Kuma-chan. I also does have kamioshi which is Tachibana Shinnosuke. He's been like whenever I find new anime or gacha game, he always appeared right in front of my screen and I always scream whenever he appear his name and got emotional happy and cry. (Yes, that's how I observe about myself..) And when I heard that he's married, I just accept him and give him support and not only that he had his baby. I was happy for him with his wife and his daughter. (Yes, he had a baby and his baby was a girl which is good. 😊❤💕) And I don't know if he had fan that quit being of Tachibana's fan, So I don't think they are not.. I haven't researched about his fan, you know got stalk by him or even threatening him or his wife... And for Ume-chan or other seiyuu's have been married, Well... I just accept them and support them. All about the reporters for me, still looking forward to his work all same. I feel like there could be a bit of maturity shown in these situations, instead of revealing the info like he was trying to be very secretive about it, why don't they just get him to an exclusive interview through his agency/manager wherein he talks about it in detail? That way the reporters still get their attention while also not painting him as some deceptive dude, and maybe they get some more info out of it too, all on good terms. I totally agree and discovered why Ume-chan marriage strike me as "wait a minute..." it was because of all of the Ume-chan things! but, I mean, not the "dirty" stuff but the "cold(?" parts of him. Like he shows himself like "I don't care, I don't give a lettuce" and it's like you said, we don't know him, we only know what he let us see. Congrats to him, I'm more shocked 'cause I didn't know about Shimono (apparently I live under a rock). I have a kind of crush on Sugita, but I did get sad when he was flirting with her colleges (never gotta know if it was serious, probably a joke) and many of them got married later. But, as long as he is happy I am happy. And gosh stop following seiyuus in their everydays life, japanese media you are better than that!

my reaction to this is same as when I heard that tatsun is married I'm NOT heart broken (and yeah I used to have crush on him but not anymore long before he married) Tatsun looks like a playboy for me but when he married I was like "wait what? tatsun? ok so he is not a playboy I was wrong sorry, congratulations" and whole scandal happen . . . for ume I has exact reaction but I don't see him as playboy but more unhinge man who loves r18 thing I just hope that he will be happy and stay unproblematic I am kamiya-san fans (I'm STILL his fans) yeah I was really shock back then, I was in train and waiting any confirmation from him in DGS I also have little heart broken when I heard exile akira get married but both of them only little shock/hurt after that I'm happy for them now I have another seiyuu oshi (not crush bc I can't imagine him being my romantic partner) he is not as popular as other seiyuu but he has a lot of potential so I focus on rooting for him bc this is probably my 1st time having oshi like that

I always have a gut feeling that he’s kinda awkward everytime people putting to much attention to him and then he try to act like a loser everytime. That’s the persona he want to show in front of the camera, not the real Umehara. Ig he’s just a nice growing star who try to set his boundary to protect people who important around him. Japanese Fandom can be really crazy and I understand why he did that.
