The person who owns the shop is probably trying to get them to have the work done at their shop I have watched your videos for a long time you certainly know your stuff and wouldn’t sell a lemon
Thanks for the comment, No they are a good shop on that aspect, not trying to sell work as they don't do that work and they are always jammed full. Thats why I gave a good amount of info as I know that wasn't the case. But what was the case was pre-judging and assuming unfortunately. I was a young mechanic too that thought I knew it all... I always treat each issue with an open mind. Yes there are common issues on some vehicles and a good amount of the time you can tell pretty quickly. But to say the water pump was bad with no other info than seeing a slow drip of antifreeze was absolutely wrong. And to scare the person off saying it needs "thousands of dollars" in work is absolutely wrong. I appreciate the positive comment. Thanks!
You have way more experience than I when dealing with cars/trucks, but I have heard the spring clamps are used on radiator hose from factory instead of hose clamps because they need to be able to fluctuate with temperature swings. Just trying to save you a possible headache.
Thats a very interesting theory.... There may be a little to that as it kind of makes sense.... However its well known you never put spring clamps back on when changing hoses or anything... For many years people put worm clamps in place. I believe it's more for cost cutting and speed in production than anything. However that does make some sense... But I have never had one leak after putting a traditional worm clamp on after.
The latest video on a channel called flying wheels dealership in New Hampshire on a jeep raises this exact same situation watch it it’s 1 of a 3 part series very much like this he sold a car to a family friend and problems ensue
