Glad to see you guys diving a little deeper into star wars lore! Star Wars is my favorite fandom and I think it should get more representation on this channel.
Three things: 1. Sasha Banks has not been confirmed as Sabine (although she kind of looks the part and is of the right age, she might just be playing some smaller role like Ming-Na did in season 1). 2. Mitth'raw'nuruodo seems like a hard name to pronounce, but there actually is recording of Timothy Zahn saying it as it is intended to be said: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cR9Lefmzf8w.html 3. I both love you and hate you for the "pod racing" joke. EDIT: as a few people have pointed out, the "gil" in Purrgil is pronounced similarly to the breathing organ of a fish. It is /g/ and not /j/.
Sabine and Asohka aren't even confirmed to be in The Mandalorian at all much less Sasha Banks playing Sabine. Fyi: according to the creators of Rebels, Sabine is asian in appearance.
@@BassSpiikkeri fair. though if anyone seeing this wants a recommendation the novel "Thrawn" (canon) is excellent and the version on Audible is really great. Marc Thompson is the reader for it and his voices are excellent. Plus the Star Wars audiobooks also have music and movie accurate sound effects (things like the blasters sounding like the proper model of blaster, fighters sounding like the right type of fighter, ect) Maybe next time Audible sponsors SCB some of yall should check it out
"Baby Yoda which might literally be the best thing to happen in 2020......well other than the birth of my actual baby twins Nick and Nate" Nice save J.....Nice save 🤣
Correction (and more spoilers for the canon Thrawn series): They don't just take The Chimera (Thrawn's flagship). If you listen to Captain Pelleon's distress call to Thrawn when the Purgil are attacking he says "The fleet is gone", Thrawn asks if the ships were destroyed and Pelleon tells him "They're not destroyed, they're gone!" before his own ISD The Harbinger also goes silent. We also have Ezra tell Thrawn that there is something out there he and Thrawn need to do and that can't be done without Thrawn. And given the events of the Thrawn trilogy it's not unlikely that Thrawn and Ezra were going to fight The Grisk. Who are The Grisk? Think the Covenant from Halo. They're a, likely, extra galactic threat that are in the early stage of invading through The Unknowns. Thrawn is aware of them and his motivation to help the Empire is, in large part, fueled by the knowledge that the only faction in the galaxy who could throw them back is The Empire. At the end of the canon Thrawn novels (the new one is the first in a prequel series) The Chiss Ascendancy (the strongest faction in The Unknowns and, as stated in the video, Thrawn's people) are in chaos. The Grisk are pushing in and Thrawn is growing desperate. He knows that Palpatine is nearly done with him and that The Empire might not be as useful as he had hoped all these years. Infact it's likely this is part of why hes as brutal as he is in the Rebels finale. Then the battle of Lothal happens, Ezra tells him "you know theres something we need to do", then whalenaps Thrawn and at least a portion of the Fifth Imperial Fleet.
Wait - so there are two extra galactic species that try to invade the Star Wars Galaxy at some point? Cause I have heard of the Yuzang Vong but never have I heard of the Grisk...
@@Rounderyathecruel I like my prequel memes as much as anybody, but Anakin's turn to Vader was still incredibly sudden and has only been justified more recently with additions in TCW and such.
@Austin Su you can't just hate on everything Disney has done with star wars, some parts are solid. Rebels is okay though definitely far from clone wars. And covering legends would be kind of useless because it's not canon and it's finished. There's nothing to theorize
Austin Su agree. I preferred Legends stories. The mandelorian is really enjoyable though. I like the space wizards as much and the next girl, but is nice to see a non jedi/ Sith story
I knew Timothy Zahn when we were both in the Central Illinois Doctor Who Appreciation Society at the University of Illinois....it was so cool seeing him get to write the first new Star Wars books, and the whole idea of "Heir to the Empire" with *Leia* being the one who was Vader's heir, was just brilliant!
Thrawn is definitely top 5 best characters in Disney Canon. Thrawn May not appear in Mando season 2 but they are definitely going to mention that him and Ezra are still missing, setting up either the Ashoka series or the Rebels follow up. Which ever one they decide to put the Saben and Ashoka try to find Ezra story line in.
I hope your right and the reason Thrawn knows where Ezra is, is because he convinced him to help the chiss ascendancy. I really want to see Ezra and Thrawn team up to survive somewhere in the unknown regions, and that would be a great setup for it.
Oh man this would be AMAZING. Just imagine a more intimidating live action Thrawn with Ludwig Göransson's take on his theme. To quote Syndrome: "Hohoo this gonna be too good!"
When you start hearing the classical music in the background then Grand Admrial Thrawn is definitely back Thrawn isn't a tactical genius, he is a tactical GOD The purgil weren't the original inspiration for hyperspace travel, corillian reversed engineered rakatan hyperspace technology 25,000 years ago
I don't differentiate between legends and canon, so both are the inspiration for hyperspace travel to me. It's a hole fuqqin galaxy, even 2 if u consider rishi, so there's more than enuf room for 2 inspirations to inspire hyperspace travel.
@@goodmind4940The Rakata as we know them in Legends are not canon. The planet named Rakata Prime is canon, along with an easter egg, but that is hardly proof that they are considered canon. Basically those two items exist in a vacuum in Canon. Nothing else about the Rakata is canon, because that's how re-canonisation works. They don't just assign a pile of backstory from Legends to Canon. They re-tell the story.
I appreciate how you guys believe anyone can be a fan, no matter how much of a fandom you have consumed. Personally relating to Star Wars, I have only seen all the movies and the Mandalorian. And I hate it when people tell me I not a fan. I just don't have the time or money to consume it all. I'm just a teen! So thank you for being so supportive of people like me. 😊😁🙂😄😀
MJ Fan I am teen as well, and I try so hard to take in the content, but at the end of the day, we are very limited in time and money. However, people just don’t understand
In my opinion you at least have to like the original trilogy to be a Star Wars fan, if you’ve only seen the Disney trilogy you’ve really only watched the dumb knock off
Yesterday was my first day of school and my teacher couldn’t have been any better. The teachers have carts and hers is covered in pictures of Baby Yoda! She also has a really cool Darth Vader mask. I’m so glad I have her for home room.
Dang, SCB - way to call that shot. Since you said on Popcorn Culture that this video underperformed, I feel an extreme sense of vicarious vindication on your behalf. RETRIBUTION!!!
Have you guys ever considered doing Halo videos (the game and book series )? I’d love to see what you guys would do with it. Also I would love to see a video on Darth Nihilus. He is, in my opinion, one of the best Star Wars characters
Obviously, based on your profile picture. However, I must agree. The KOTOR games have such spectacular characters. Revan is my favorite Star Wars character ever.
Don’t read this is you haven’t seen season 2... When Thrawns name came up in episode 13 I could just see J jumping out of his seat and dancing around with excitement that his theory was right. Congrats guys on another correctly theorized plot point. I’m a long time viewer and I love your content. Happy for your accuracy 😊🎉🎈
What about the dark saber? I love Thrawn, and I am even reading the duology right know. But they left on a really big cliff hanger and I don’t know what they will do with that and Thrawn. I love your videos keep up the good work God bless
I really hope we get to see this. But just one thing: Dave Filoni posted a sketch of Ahsoka and Gandalf after TROS with Gandalf saying “People thought I was dead. Look how that turned out...” He is implying that Ahsoka is still alive even in TROS. Maybe she was alive but talking to Rey through the force.
Love the show, love the theory, would love to see Thrawn in the Mandalorian, but come on, Ezra is NOT the worst. He may be a teenager but he grows up wonderfully and had a lot of complex emotions and interesting abilities with the force. I think it's misleading to say he is "the worst". He may not be your favorite but he is a well done character. That being said I wish so much for Rex to make an appearance. Or at least let us know he got to see Ahsoka one more time before he dies, if he is in fact dead during the events of the Mandalorian. I just need closure.
@Tom Ffrench I wouldn't say he is a legend for that, but it was excellent character development. he was always gifted with beast control and creative strategies, so seeing him use those gifts in a sacrificial and meaningful way was brilliant. also, he used Space Whales, which is awesome.
In a lot of peoples opinion hes sub-par so that speaks for itself in my opinion xD He's an okay character but nothing too amazing stands out in my memory about him and I rewatched the whole series like 3 months ago.
@@delemma8984 i think he has a fantastic character arc. He shed his selfishness and self pity and poured his very life into liberating his people from the imperials for THEM, not for himself. His relationship with the force is interesting and new. He has an interesting connection with animals. His flirtation with the dark side is something I've never seen before in the Star Wars universe. We are shown the effect of the dark side once you start using it through his story. His struggle to love but love unselfishly is beautiful. And his sacrifice at the end is noble and impactful. So between a great arc, discovering things about the force that are new and interesting, his dabbling in the darkside, and his epic sacrifice, I think he is a great character.
It was the author's intention that Thrawn do his best for whatever side he chooses to serve. There was always an idea for a book where a threat would appear that only Thrawn could deal with. He would willingly work side by side with Luke Skywalker and the New Republic.
in the latest Thrawn book they explain that the Chiss have force users called Skywalkers... they help the Chiss Ascendancy travel through Chaos Space (the space ouside Empire control, also full of Supernovae and Black holes) They can also track ships through Hyperspace, Even arrive at the location before the ship they are following. maybe this will be the way to find them. that is if they are not already at the Chiss Ascendancy.
The ozyly-esehembo, also known as sky-walkers, were a closely guarded secret of the Chiss Ascendancy, even within their own cultures. The Chiss Expansionary Defence Fleet went to great lengths to hide the fact of their existence. Although it was speculated within the fandom, Thrawn never was a sky-walker (although he has worked with some), nor was he force sensitive. Additionally, it is worth to mention that he was exiled by his people (the fandom speculates of this exile being staged but there is no real evidence for this theory). Adding these factors together I highly doubt that Thrawn would possess the skill or resources needed to train Baby Yoda how to be a sky-walker. Because I highly doubt the Aristocra (basically the Chiss government) will let him anywhere close to the sky-walkers or their training facilities. I'd also like to mention that if I am not mistaken it was never confirmed Sasha Banks plays Sabine Wren, merely rumoured because of her colourful hair and because some people see a similarity between her and her character in facial features. I believe it to not be impossible for her to play Wren, but I'm afraid many people will be disappointed if she isn't. :/
Man, just finished Season 2's new episode last night! I gasped they were right, and my parents looked at me with such concern! Watch Moff Gideon working for Thrawn.😱
Yeah, okay. I can get behind this. He definitely has the cheekbones and over all prescence to pull it off. As long as he's written well, I could get excited about that.
I believe the showrunners from Rebels or Clone Wars have confirmed that Ashoka's voice in Ep. IX does NOT confirm that she's dead. In fact, she's still alive at that point. So I'm afraid that a lack of an Ezra voice proves nothing either way.
First of all, really glad to see this channel talking about other parts of the canon lore outside of just the films, and I'm honestly glad that Rebels is getting more attention these days anyway.. But here's the thing. The Mandalorian was initially marketed to be sort of a standalone series. What appealed to a lot of casual fans was that you wouldn't have to know a lot about the lore to understand what's happening in the show, and aside from the darksaber reveal at the end of season 1, the show has done a pretty good job holding true to that. My thing is, I don't really think they're going to throw in so many familiar characters when this show was never supposed to be about that. And you keep acting like Ahsoka and Sabine are confirmed, but they actually still aren't. It's been theorized that the cloaked woman in the trailer is Sabine, but there's no confirmation that she is. The only character rumored to be in The Mandalorian season 2 that's ACTUALLY been confirmed is Boba Fett. I want that to be made perfectly clear. I like this theory a lot, and I hope it happens, but I'm not so sure it will. Then again, this show has never been exactly what it was marketed as. I think they more or less threw that out the window the second Baby Yoda was introduced, so we'll see I guess.
y’all just covered EVERYTHING I’ve been thinking for the past week and I’m so glad I’m not the only one thinking along these lines and theories 😂 (I just rewatched rebels and TROS this month lol)
Waited until after watching s2 to watch this. I love/hate all theories about shows/movies I love, because they're all so good that even IF the real story is great I still feel like I missed out on something really cool. At worst the theory is better than what we get (movies 8/9). ty for the vids, keep up the good work.
The wibe in The Mandalorian isn't what keeps me watching the show even the show is incredible and I totally like it. But guess what makes me like the show even more? SCB :3 - and Baby Yoda!
Excellent video! Easily your best Star Wars theory in a while! You really did your homework on this one and I love it! Really hope your right! Only one question: what do you not like about Ezra? I can kinda understand not liking him at the start of the series but by the end, he's super cool!
YES!!! BIG YES!!! I have so many theories and you hit many of them. A more detailed how I think things will go down: I think Mando will meet Sabine first and they will aid each other with something before Sabine admits that she knows someone who could help with the force using youngling. They either end up traveling together, or she gives directions to, where she last knows where Ahsoka is. On the way, Mando has to deal with a couple more things in the form of a couple more episodes before he meets Ahsoka. Sabine might show up within the last couple episodes to help, unless she had to deal with a bigger personal problem. Then, maybe, on their course of finding Ezra, they find Thrawn instead as you predict. I do hope that in the midst of all of this, that we get to learn more about the siege of Mandalore and one of the most prized possessions, the dark saber, having been taken. That way, the only movie watchers can learn what as significance the dark saber is (instead of hardcore fans in the form of family and friends trying to explain it to them. 😆) Plus, the addition of actually finding out what alien species Yoda actually is would be great.
