Hey everybody! I could have talked all day in the intro but really tried not to and here's some stuff I left out.... I reeeeeeally wanted to put some hours up on Dec. 24th and 25th. I doubt the algorithm is particularly kind on those days and I put them up non-monetized anyway, so hopefully so you get my motivations there. Had that not been the case it's possible the first two episodes never would have seen the light of day. Also, while I planned on being one-and-done in terms of my character's lives, I reeeeeally didn't wanna start over, especially after that HALDOR find(!!!), and I simply wouldn't have... started over. There would just be blank space here. Also, despite any illusions I might have given you lately, this channel is actually a benevolent dictatorship, not a democracy, mwahahahaha! At the end of the day I play the game for FUN! That said, Gjall have won me over with the idea of keeping the world but losing my character's skills and gear, gonna try it. THAT said, I'm not going to bang my head against this playthrough forever. I put the chances at 99.9999% that I don't actually finish it. Very Hard combat removes what in my opinion are some core game mechanics that I find really enjoyable and NoMap is a bonkers, incomplete mode. And when you put them together....yeesh! THAAAAAAT said, I'm having a great time so far and we're gonna keep it goin' for at least a little while! I want to thank everybody for their participation in my little dictatorship, even if you're silent. I hope you enjoy! Once again, I'm havin' a great time! :D
Why did you demonetize the videos? For the algorithm or because you were afraid of getting cancelled for not being "honest" with us and making (what I presume is a couple dollars a month) money off of your "dishonesty". Hopefully for the former reason because I must disabuse you of your illusions if you think we'd think of you that way!! Regardless, game on!!! Honestly, I think we've seen the beginning of the game enough times to want to repeat it without any payoff of mid and end game! Oh and I'm 100% stealing that logout trick next time I'm facing death by poison!! I've already begun abusing the portal/door passage trick 😅

Hey Thread, I'm watching the video here and seems like you have a little problem with the boar pen house. You could expand it quite a bit and the boars will still reproduce really quickly. You just bring a pile of 25-30 food and spread it through out the pen house. If you are afraid of bats or drakes raids, remember they only happen after bonemass is dead and you can always roof the pen house. You really don't need to squeeze your poor boars in that Manhattan apartment! 🤣
manhattan apartment! haha! i want to test the hostile mob behavior (like shamans) with double walls. the bigger the inner ring is, the bigger the outer ring is and the mats required scale up really quickly so i wanted to keep small footprint

When the boar went from happy to hungry and you didn't throw in some food and shot it with the bow, part of me died inside. Hahaha jk great playthrough. I really do hope you finish this playthrough, dictatorship aside you still have to keep the people happy lol.
Normally I'm not a big fan of dictators, but this time it's really fun to be controlled in a benevolent way! I can't believe how many raids have happened in such a short time and how much copper you've farmed!
Earth has yet to see a benevolent one but maybe it's possible in Valheim! Gosh, the raids, I know! And I don't think I've ever farmed a whole copper node playing solo, but I've def split one with a duo
I'm absolutely thrilled that this series is continuing! Yolof is growing on me, but I can't quite figure out what his issue is with birds. I'd be fascinated to get a glimpse of the mental map you've formed for the regions you've explored. Here's a tricky question: when you’re up for some swamp shenanigans, where does the poison mead go? In your belly or in a box? Not gonna lie, I held my breath the entire time you were kiting that one-star troll through the swamp without any mead, unrested and with night approaching fast! Nice to see you’re giving doors a shot. They might take a bit of practice (1:09:56), but you'll master their use in no time!
I'd be fascinated to get a glimpse of my mental map too, lol! It's kinda like I don't even have one! At this point i haven't played this run since before Christmas, too, we'll see how it goes when i get back to it, haha! I'll get doors figured out eventually! XD
Free pass is kool, love that you value so highly what we think. This challenge is so hard, should just play it through with a more lenient death penalty. Also if you feel that death coming, saving yourself before it happens should be a legit strat.
my friend and i are currently doing our first hardcore playthrough. im amazed at how you keep your composure in swaps content, especially when you used a 1 star troll (which one shots you in hc) to aggro aboms and starred draugers. insanely cool to watch man. you're the only youtuber i've seen thats actually done a hardcore preset run and gotten this far. please keep doing this series
Hi Thread, just stumbled upon your channel the other day and I've been binge watching while I play, lol. Loving the content so far. I can tell you're a pretty advanced player. Im learning something new almost every hour of every video, lol. Question, you think maybe one day we could possibly get an inside the mind let's play? The sparse commentary is good to have on in the background but maybe with this idea you can take us through your mind. Tell us why you're doing what you're doing, what you're looking for, whats going through your brain at that exact moment, etc. Almost like a tutorial but obviously its gonna be more advanced since you're the player, lol. I'd love to learn a lot more neat little tricks, tips, mechanics, etc.

So glad you continued this but I but I do miss the map for myself! Lol You are right about the map being a crucial part to enjoying this game. At least for me.
Atgeir is not worth it for speedrun but it is fantastic for zoning large groups of enemies in non-speedrun play as well as staggerlocking one scary target. It probably also has a lower damage since your spear level is like 40 higher lol.
When my hubby and I did our no map run last year we found that knocking down a tree or two when we were exploring was a great way to know if we had been somewhere. Trees render in pretty fast and one knocked down is easy to see. I'm SO glad you continued.
when i play this mode i play one life and done. however tbh i just like watching you play these settings, so more vidya really is an xmas miracle for us viewers.
I play hardcore once and a while, its not "fun" but it does force you to think about how to play in a completely diffrent way than normal survival. I've never made it to Elder before giving up / getting what I needed out of the experence. Keep playing how you see fit, if you dont finish, NBD, thoes who understand will. Thanks for the content.
have you thought of triangulating the elder location? you got a direction for the elder of nw, if you go to the other end of the coastline find a rune in a crypt or on a castle and get a north direction, you know you are fairly close, if the direction is still NW then you know you are miles away
Let's go Thready! When Hardcore was introduced I started right away and played for weeks straight. Heartbreaking death after heartbreaking death. Never found the Elder and lost my sanity along the way. You may have inspired me to give it another shot after burning the eff out lol
Ahh, gotcha lol. Did not realize till now the ol log trick. I'm currently doing one, died but had my stuff setup in case of death, meaning i made duplicates.. of course all my skills went back to 0... Anyhow, looking forward to this. I did not sneak peak the end this time :)
It definitely needs SOMETHING. Personally I agree that a compass would be very cool. I could see it being a craftable item that takes up an inventory slot, you have to hold in your hands to use, and maybe it could take a second or two to calibrate when you pull it out. "intentionally clunky" so to speak. It would make using it both punishing and rewarding which makes for interesting choices (imo) and masochistic no-map purists could choose to simply ignore it, instead of having it imposed upon them.
I used to use atgeirs for their AOE. And it does stagger trolls. 1 spin plus about 5 stabs (3rd stab will stagger troll again edit: at polearms skill level 12 (twelve) & atgeir level 2) will take down a base log troll (watch the stamina).
So true! The number of times I want to "yell" at Thread to "just portal home!!!" is ridiculous!!😅 Both for safety reasons e.g. forgot poison mead, unrested, cold(?), wet, in the swamp, trying to make a 1* log troll find and fight abominations: Just portal home!!!! And also inventory reasons e.g. upon having the troll and abomination loot at his feet, ponders what he can carry: 1. Slap down the portal to open up space and/or 2. Just portal home!! 😂😂😂
Would have laughed so hard if an archer would have shot away your remaining 3 HP after the miracle happened 😀 hopefully the fun continues until the Queen lies on the ground!
3 Episodes in and it just occurred to me that no map, and no minimap, also means no knowing where the wind is. That seems like kind of a big deal to include in the description of no map for hardcore (Valheim's fault, not yours).
Good! I think most people wanted you to keep playing because they are interested in this seed. It looks like you are on a massive super continent which is a rare seed to randomly pull. getting the belt on day 15 is crazy. Seems like a shame to waste a seed like that. It’s not like you have anything to prove to your audience. We already know you are good at the game. If you were REALLY CHEATING like me you would hard shut down your computer, cheat death and wake up in your bed with Turnip seeds in your inventory. “Was it all just a dream? Wait….I have Turnip seeds.”😂😂
Is the raid rule that items need to be 40m from each other or 40m from you? If they're 80m apart and you stand in the middle do you get raided? Inquiring minds want to know.
The tiny makes no difference for what he is going for (guaranteed 3 babies each time as long as he waits for them to be born) but I, too, am curious as to the tall!
Kinda want to test enemy behavior with double layer walls. That gets expensive really quick, a 2x2 and a 4x4 is a lot cheaper than a 3x3 and 5x5. As for the height the 2m tall door annoys me so I wanted to use the big gate to its full potential but also have the 1m wall at the entrance so nobody escapes!
Because this is the hardcore preset, as advertised, and portals are allowed. I'm not certain I understand your question/accusation. Maybe you'll be willing to elaborate?
When you put hardcore it selects "no boss portals" which only means you're not allowed to travel through a portal if there's a boss that's awake and walking around. Then, yeah, when you change it from "no boss portals" to "portals allowed" (or whatever that setting is called) it becomes Custom. I'm sticking with "no boss portals" so I can build one at the Elder but if I summon him and then don't kill him the game will prevent me from going through a portal until he's dead.
@@bosspaw4028 it's an interesting limitation. You get to use portals but if you die to a boss you gotta make the whole commute again from wherever your bed is. Also, can't portal away to REPAIR! So you gotta be ready to do it in one. BE WARNED: If you get too close to Her Majesty's spot it might forbid you from portalling.
