Talk about prophetic. I just bought Moretoes 36pcs 4oz Metal Round Tins Aluminum Empty Candle Tins with Screw Lid from amazon due to the high cost and limited availability of threaded insets for boxes. I might learn thread chasing eventually, but not right now. I didn't think about using PVC fittings for this and haven't gotten a chance to try out the tins. I will be cutting the threaded sections free similar to the way you did the PVC. The fact that the tins have a bottom and a top, as well as how thin the metal is will present more of a challenge than the PVC I suspect. Anyway, nice video. I will be using this as a reference for when I get the chance to try my idea.
Thank you for doing this video. The last urn I made was a friction fit and with the brass fitting being hard to find or expensive when you can find them I have been debating on doing this for a while. Your video makes it easier now that I've seen it done. I'm going to have to check out more of your channel now.
Great job showing just how easy using plastic threads is. I just double checked and I am subbed and have the bell on. I don’t, however, get the notifications that you’ve put out a new video. Maybe I will mow that I watched this one. I’ll never understand the YT algorithm.
Great job I've used this same kinda method on an urn works perfect. I haven't done it on my Channel but I'll be doing a video also at some point. Great job.
Hello, just found you while looking for a fairly simple way to incorparate PVC threads into the top of a wooden urn. This is great, very well done and explained perfectly. Thank you and saludos from Venezuela.
Hi, I watch and enjoy a lot of Mike Peace’s videos. He mentioned your site and I was interested in checking it out. He was right, your presentations are very interesting and well done. I’m a relatively new turner with about a year under my belt. It’s been fun and rewarding. I struggle with certain areas of the hobby, which is normal. Watching videos like yours helps a lot. For me see is the best part. Thank you. I’ll be watching. Roger D.
Have done the same thing. Was unable to find any more brass fittings so gave this method a try. Works well and you do a good job and explain the process well. Didn’t figure it was original but this is the first time seeing anyone develop this solution Thank you.
