Welcome back! Emma Cook ( ‪@TheTinyTurner‬ ) graces us once again with a very special project. Bowls are classic pieces crafted by a woodturner, but today it will be special.
In this video, Emma turns a deep bowl. The upper rim becomes the focal point. There's carving, gluing, and of course, chameleon pigments are used for the final touch of color. But see for yourself!

Hi all! Just wanted to pop in and say a couple of things. Firstly, a big THANK YOU to the KS team for filming and editing this fab video. You’ve done a great job!! 🌟💜 I’m only a guest demonstrator for them so all I did was the turning bit (the easy part!) 😆 Secondly, there have been a lot of comments mentioning the height of the lathe which I would like to address. I appreciate everyone’s concerns, but I have been turning for over 20 years on lathes this high and my turning technique has developed to enable me to be comfortable turning at this height. I NEVER stand on platforms because PERSONALLY I find them a hazard. I find they are either a tripping hazard, or something you can easily step/stumble off by accident and hurt yourself. I therefore find them far more dangerous than turning at the height I’m turning at. So there you go 😉 I appreciate your concern but I’m totally used to it and happy with it 👍🏻 Also, I know I said centimetres but I did mean millimetres. I usually work in imperial and when I go to metric I often confuse myself 🤪🤪

Lovely work - Being vertically challenged myself I wish I had seen you turning before I got my 180 - I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of making a bench - just got the legs to go with it and got used to that way of turning. Thankyou.

Competently turning an unadorned walnut bowl would have been enough but, just as the iridescent, "hammered" effect elevates it to a rare and precious objet d’art - the audio’s clear, comprehensive instructions are delivered in an utterly bewitching accent, especially charming for its inconstancy - ~70% of the words sound more or less standard, so one relaxes one’s guard to focus on the message, only to be stunned repeatedly by some or other innocent word that could only have come from the magical forest where elves frolic the livelong day! … What sorcery is this?

I once was the moderator for the online section of the magazine Getwoodworking, and I remember a lot of turner's wanting videos of products just like these, not overly technical but a wonderful end product, good sellers too. Well done.

I so enjoyed watching you make this bowl. You have a knack of making it look so easy and your instructions are very clear. Good camera work means that we get a clear view of what you are doing and also seeing the bevels on your tools. The talk about carving tools and techniques was also very helpful. I loved the finished product ……green shimmer on walnut ….perfect!!!!!!
