In this video, we've unboxed and tested the Sercomm LTE2122GR home broadband router, also known as the Three 4G+ Hub.
We've shown how to set up the 4G Plus Hub, including installing the SIM card, and attaching its antennas, and performed a speed test. We've also tested this 4G router when gaming, to see what its latency is like.
Overall, we gave the 4G Plus Hub 4.6 out of 5, as it offers a great-value way to achieve fast broadband speeds at home, and it's also very easy to set up.

The side of the SIM card with the Three logo on it faces the back. It sounds like you are punching out the smallest nano SIM card. You want the second-largest one. See here in the setup section for more details: broadbandsavvy.com/three-4g-plus-hub-review/

what color lights should be on on broadband, because in my case they are green, apart from LTEstrenght, sometimes it is green and sometimes it is red, it is less than a meter from the TV, which is too close and therefore the WiFi works worse?

You can buy Three's 5G Hub, which is a similar price and also supports 4G, on a month-to-month basis. SImply buy on the Three website and set up a monthly direct debit. You can cancel anytime but have to send back the router.

I've got mine today and was told by three customer service that the amber light on the LTE strength does not mean anything !! Also my password on the box does not work at all....i only by passed it on my phone by the bar code scanner which took a long time to work....I can not use the password for anything else because it does not work . ...I am very disappointed right now as I've just got it

It might be worth changing the password on your phone, or connect over Ethernet and then change the password, in order to connect all of your devices. Also confirm that you're using the password printed on the router, not on its box.

Im moving house soon. Despite being in a town, the new house actually has worse fibre optic than the rural area I live in now and highest I can find available is about 70mps download. However these hubs are meant to go higher. Does it just plug into a normal socket in a wall? And does it run off that sim card that comes with it? What are those long things you stuck into it? I know internet speed depends on 4G. So, next time I visit the new house, if I turn off my WiFi, and do an Internet speed test on the 4G on my phone, would the results I get be an accurate estimate of the wifi speeds I'd get with one of these? Also, I assume with it being run off 4G, the Internet wouldn't ever cut out? Unless of course we didn't have a 4G signal.
@broadbandsavvy
@broadbandsavvy Год назад
Yes it plugs into a power socket (no phone socket), it connects to the internet using the included SIM card, the things plugged into it are external antennas. Our review in the pinned comment/description has a lot more detail. A 4G test on your phone on Three should show a similar speed. Also see if you can get the 5G Hub instead, to get speeds of up to 700 Mbps. It won't cut out if you have good 4G signal.

what’s the difference between 4G plus Hub and 4G Hub . can anyone tell me please?
@broadbandsavvy

4G Plus Hub comes with external antennas as shown in the video. This means that the signal is theoretically a bit better, but the router is bigger and slightly more hassle to set up.
@stevelewis8394
@stevelewis8394 Год назад
@@broadbandsavvy Wrong. The 4G+ hub is a cat18 hub - that is the main difference. If you're in a good signal area you'll likely get faster download speeds by NOT using the bunny ears.

Ensure that the SIM is active, if unsure try it in another device. Try to use the router at another address to see if it's a signal issue.

@broadbandsavvy definitely active. I took it out of my phone. Does it have to be a data only sim? I have unlimited data on the sim but can also use it for calls, texts etc
@broadbandsavvy
@broadbandsavvy 11 месяцев назад
@@lukeeastabrook3534 I don't think it has to be a data-only SIM. If it's definitely not working, including at other addresses, and the router only works with Three's SIM, it could be that Three is mistaken about it being unlocked. Their 5G Hub for example is known to be locked.
@lukeeastabrook3534
@lukeeastabrook3534 11 месяцев назад
@broadbandsavvy it's so strange. Due to me buying it second hand (but brand new) I'm unsure if it is unlocked. I have applied to three to unlock it but they've told me it's unlocked. God knows. I've tried the sim in both ways, when I put it in with the 45 degrees upwards, the Internet and LTE flashes, when I put it In 45 degrees down, then the red lights for Internet and LTE flash, then go off..... but no green light.
@broadbandsavvy
@broadbandsavvy 11 месяцев назад
@@lukeeastabrook3534 Might be worth changing the APN in the router's settings. May also be worth seeing if Smarty has any ideas if Three is not being helpful. Although they are a subsidiary of Three, Smarty markets their SIMs for mobile broadband so they may be more equipped to help troubleshoot - it could be a new SIM is needed.
