I hate it when I turn the key on, press the starter button, and the engine fires right up. I like to feel like I have to work for it. And dont even get me started on the fact there's no chain to lube.....ugh.
In my opinion who talks about more hp or off road capabilities on this bike miss the idea of what this bike is. My feet are size 47 and never noticed what you consider annoying. in my opinion It's a good looking, easy to ride, driveshaft, solid, multiporpouse bike with a good price and low cost of ownership. This is what I think as a owner.
@@giorgiocusati im 1,85cm. The bike is good for us even if you are taller then me . The only cons is the wind you will take even if you have the bigger windshield. I used an optional cheap chinese wind deflector and is ok.
I've been mostly a Japanese bike owner these past years. Your points are well taken, and as someone else mentioned, for beefs, none of these things are deal-breakers. I am absolutely loving this bike. Yes, the engine 'could' be a bit stronger, but I'm not a wheelie guy or looking to have my tail swing out on some gravel or wooded path. There's plenty of other bikes capable of doing those things if that's your thing. I've got fuel, (plenty of it) and a lot of riding in front of me, and I cruise 75 mph and that engine thumps better, and better the hotter, and longer it goes. It's true: the bike has great character! I'm a Guzzi convert, and hopefully, they can keep up the great workmanship.
Man the heated grip work the correct way. When you turn on anything electrical it starts from the lowest setting up to the highest and that's done for many good reasons including not instantly heating cold components...etc And the engine lacks maybe around 10-15bhp, not 40bhp. 120bhp is multistrada territory. Maybe the only annoying thing could be the tubed wheels and lack of sturdier front forks.
Off course this is right. I had heated grips from ixs, Oxford and saito. All begin by the lowest setting. But hey i am sorry for his extrem finger workout.. 😀
Wow, if this are your problems, then there are no serious issues on this bike. The V85 TT is nice because it does not have the power of a BMW GS or Honda Africa Twin. Thats what makes it lovely :-)
you forgot that it's an Italian bike and heated grips are not necessary...so you start from low heat. I remember that about 20 years ago they used to have around 80bhp to race a full Paris-Dakar.
aprilia caponord I understand your point of view. This would be the wrong bike for me if I had only one bike. Both me and my wife are passionate about motorcycles as you can see in our channel. Hope you will enjoy what we produce in the future. Next up is a touring trip with the V85 and a V9 Bobber where we will try to post one video every day of the 7 days trip💕
Are there any modification upgrades for this engine without changing internal components. Like a cold air filter, exhaust/headers and a chips/ computer remap. Looks like gaining an extra 10% would be just perfect.
Shocked at your point about lack of engine power to perform a wheelstand. This bike is clearly and absolutely a poor match for someone of your inclination. Great point about the foot positioning. These are the things you don't pick up on a short test ride. The way in which the heated grips function is quite common in OEM grips/seats. Aftermarket (ie: Oxford brand) gives you greater control.
Thanks for viewing our videos! It have never overheated. When we did the wilderness enduro trip (video is on our channel) the weather was hot and we had parts with very low speeds. The engine got very hot and on low revs it started knocking (very hard knocking). But apart from that engine heat was no problem. Personally I think that the Guzzi is more bike than the gs 800. I’m not a fan of that BMW engine. The guzzi engine is a gem in comparison, smooth all over the rev range. I would go on a test ride on the guzzi bur I would also try the Gs 850. I like the Gs 850 a lot and it would be harder for me to choose between that and the guzzi, but I would probably get the guzzi anyway. It something special about the Italian and the build quality is excellent. I sometimes just sit and admire the bike when I take a break on longer journeys.
Thanx bro for thiw review. Such a nice bike, as a beginner for a first bike, what do you think!? I think also about the cb500x or the Vstrom 650xt! Thanx and grettings from Serbia ✌️
Thank you for the comment. I think the bike is one of the greats and is suitable for all kinds of riders from beginners to experienced. It runs out of dept only when you try to use it for something it´s not ment for. I think the V85 is a great bike to learn and develop your riding skills and a bike that you can keep for a long period of time.
The biggest annoyance for me (and I do love my V85TT), is the lack of sufficient grease in the rear shock mounting bearings. Mine dried out and started squeaking after 3,000 miles. It’s easy to fix, but I’ve never had that with any other bike.
Not sure that this bike was made to be a wheelie machine!, looks a lovely machine though, I would love to have one to join my Vespa gts300, be interested what you think of it as a bike for 2 persons touring
Its great for two up touring. And you can actually wheelie with all bikes but this one is not just throttle you need to clutch it up. I think there are some wheelie shots in the “first time on gravel” video on our channel. I had a pillion on the race track and it worked out great💕
All the heated grips I have used start low and go high. Not an issue. The engine is advertised as 80bhp. Granted it produces that without drama bit like an NT700 but no point complaining about it. Go buy a GS if you want 40bhp more. Can't comment on foot peg spacing but lack of heat shield on exhaust seems a bit cheap. As does lack of tubeless option.
boo-boo Thanks for your comment. The engine is lovely and pulls strong through the whole rev range. I have done close to 10000 km now on the V85 and like it more for every mile we go.
Old Phart V85TT Life is actually great, one of the best bikes I’ve ridden actually. The engine is also my number one thing that makes this bike great. More HP or not is more about riding style and what I’m used to. On my race bike I have 192 HP on the back wheel and my MT-10 give 152 HP on the back wheel.
Guys....Question, what’s the long term prognosis for the TFT dash on the V85 TT ?.....I keep my adventure bikes for 10 years, I wanna know that TFT is going to last !
@@BikesaccordingtoBostroms Thanks for the reply. That’s good to know, This will be the first bike with that kind of dash for me and not gauges. Still to many electronics, but that’s the way of the future I guess.
Blir verkligen handtagen varma? Provade mina idag, ....
You are so right, this is one of the great bikes out there. It was really hard to find anything to be annoyed by. I rode the V85 for the whole season and in every aspect of motorcycle riding and it performed well in them all. Even on the race track it was a fun bike to ride, and it is not built with that purpose. I would still have one if I had more room in the garage, but seven bikes are our limit💕
Giuseppe Sciacca The V85TT is beautiful, very nice to ride, comfortable and have an engine that pulls strong all the way from 2000rpm. The Multistrada is not that and I can live with a bit less horse power when everything else is super.
80hp at the crank is what Moto Guzzi tells you. If you want more you could get another faster bike. Staging the bike with exhaust and modifying the ECU could get another 10 horses out.
I expect my Heritage to have an uneven firing order, throaty rumble, and a little vibration. I don't expect her to wheelie and spin out of corners. The V85TT is a wonderful bike, don't expect her to do things she was never intended to do. MG does not get nearly the credit they are due.
Brian I agree with you but with a bit more it would be playful as well. We are out touring now and have so far covered 3000 kilometers and for this 80 HP is plenty💕
I can't agree with any of your points in this video. The heater grips work correctly, the power is good relative to the engine size and application, the pegs are subjective for each person. I found them to be well placed. If you feel the need for 40 more HP, you have made a bad choice in buying your bike. It's not a wheelie machine, it's an adventure touring bike. Since you made a video about what you didn't like, can we assume you will make one on what you did like? There's a lot to like about this bike particularly when compared to others in this category.
Thanks for the comment. I actually had a hard time finding anything annoying about the bike. We have posted lots of videos about the bike and they are all praising the V85. The conclusion is that it’s one of the greats and we also found, as you can see in the other videos a lot more than an adventure/touring bike. I even did a track day and actually did pop a wheelie or to during the time I had the bike. Me and my wife have 8 motorcycles between us so we have a lot of different bikes to pick from. But I did almost 15000 km on the Guzzi over just 4 months. I liked the V85 a lot💕
@@BikesaccordingtoBostroms Thanks for your reply. This was the first video I had seen of yours. My apologies for not digging deeper before I commented. I haven't bought one yet but it I will this year. I've watched this bike since I first saw it mentioned a few years ago. I've had a MG previously and there is something about the brand that does strike a chord with me. Be safe and keep riding and talking about it.
@@kennolte5801 have bought V85 yet? I’m riding my girlfriend’s centenario edition and don’t want to give it back 😆 Haven’t found any downsides yet. I guess when you are really cold you don’t mind pressing 3 times 🤣
@@mariuszuk79 i am sorry to say I haven't bought one yet. The events of the last year made me hold what I have. I still plan to get a 21 model this year. I'm really looking forward to it.
Uf what a annoying bike. Just sell that shit. Life is to short to live with those big problems. Off course i know you love the moto gucci a lot. I see it in your eyes. I will buy it in black tomorrow. :-)
That is closer to the truth than you know. It was really hard to find something to bitch about when the bike was so good at everything I threw at it. I thought it would perform poorly on track but coped really well as you can see in that video. A truly great bike💕
Laga Nini I see your point and it would be valid if this was my only bike. From a one bike perspective this would be the wrong bike for me but We have two Yamaha MT10:s, one BMW S1000RR, one Yamaha R6, two KTM Freeride electric and one Honda CB 500 four beside the Guzzi V85TT. But I will still keep my opinion that the V85 is lacking in HP, and in most forums decat and mapping is popular topics so it seems that a lot of people agree💕
@@BikesaccordingtoBostroms u have a wife and all those bikes......how in heavens name did u pull that off??? Men tack för recensioner. Bör du i Stockholm eller??
Do you have a problem with your thumb? Where is that a problem to press 3 times to get to the highest level of heated grips? Ridiculous... Sorry... And I find it subjective when you complain about only 80 hp. Didn't you read a description before testing or buying? This video is really annoying and it seems that you are only reporting here because you are angry about your uninformed purchase. I'm satisfied with my V85 TT, I wouldn't want to be without it in everyday life and when travelling alone and with my wife.
Thank you Thomas for watching the channel and for your comment. If you watch some of the other videos we made about the V85 you will find that we liked it a lot. I can respect your opinion about the heated grips but it is still annoying that they work the opposite from other manufacturers (and even opposite from heated seats in cars). I will assure you that we had a hard time to find annoying things on the V85 and with these three it should be clear that the V85 is one of the greatest bikes out there. What ever challenge we gave it during that year it excelled every time. Congrats to you for owning one of them. Best regards.
A don't give a shit about the heated grips (although I live in a very cold country). It's not a problem. The engine in the other hand... It needs to be around 115 hp to cope with the shaft drive. 80 hp with shaft is somewhat lacking in power. It's really a shame. If this bike had more power it would have a much better market position.
