I bought a Boucher SG 41 mahogany about a month ago and I can't put it down! My second guitar is a D28 which I've had for 35 years and sound wise, it's not a little bit close to my Boucher. Robin makes one of the best guitars on the planet!!!

Thank you for this interesting video; every Boucher guitar that I have heard (only in RU-vid...🤷🏻‍♂️) is amazing. Regards,

Love the video. I own a bg-152gm and a bg52. They both sound great. But the 152 gm is in a whole different league. 👍👍👍

They all sound wonderful when played by such a gifted artist. I do agree the Madagascar sounded slightly more articulate, although I would gladly love to own any one of the three.

Great video Roger! All beautiful sounding guitars, subtle awesome differences. Great playing also. I LOVE my BG42-IM. My favourite of the lot. Great explanation of the wood differences. Thank you😊🎶

IMHO there is another factor not yet explored in this great comparison which is the guitars in a group setting. It could be two guitars where you would probably have complimentary guitars, a bluegrass combo of fiddle, mandolin, bass etc. Well done. Thank you. Thomas Althouse, Silk Purse Recording, Elora

Actually - looking again, whilst there are differences between the sounds, the BG-52GM is slightly sweeter than the BG-52G, and the BG-152-GM is slightly sweeter again - but I think I like the BG-52G I got (that same guitar) just as much. It seems have a little extra punch through in the notes - possibly because it's bottom end isn't quite as resonant as the other two guitars. I couldn't choose a "better" guitar between them - they're all great and individual in their sounds. I can't put the BG-52G down at present. Every string at every position just has so much tone, thickness and presence. The top E is often a little weaker on many acoustics. Not so with these Bouchers. I'll definitely look at the GM when I get a BG-42.

What was the name of the last piece you played on these three guitar? I'd love to learn it. I can't get it out of my head.

Nice comparison. Look forward to that BG-52G arriving here this week. Definitely some differences, but they're all so good.

BTW: I wasn't aware of how much there is to master grade before I chose the G pack, and ignored the master pack. The main thing I knew was about the aesthetics of the wood.

@@michaelwebster8389 Are you still happy with it 10 months later?
@michaelwebster8389
@michaelwebster8389 7 месяцев назад
@@greenfinmusic5142 Yes very happy. I also have some very nice Martins, and I'll pick one up and play it for a couple of weeks or months, before rotating to another guitar which seems to reinspire me. The BG-52g is louder than the Martins, and also a has a little more clarity. There are differences to the tone, and it sounds very sweet - most close to a D-28 sound as you'd expect, but I wouldn't say one hands down beats the other with respect to a good Martin vs the Boucher. Also, it seems that others hearing the playing really appreciate the sound. It's basically got a Martin sound, but perhaps a bit more modern and clear. The neck is great, so it's very comfortable in the hands, and it inspires me to play slightly differently than on my other guitars - possibly letting notes ring longer because of it's great resonance, and playing lighter because it's so loud.

Have you ever played an SG 152? What do you find the main difference between the BG and the SG series ?

Hi. I have not had the pleasure of playings an SG152. I am sure it would be superb. Here is a great video with JP Cormier & Robin Boucher about this very topic of BG versus SG. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-enC8xzcAw1A.html Cheers. Roger
