@@michaelwebster8389 You'll love it mine doesn't have the gold pack either.....all the torrefication does is artificially age it, so an untreated top will " torrify" over time. @ShawnBrockMusic
@ShawnBrockMusic 2 года назад
Hey Cory, yes, for the most part, I would rather have 1 3/4. I played 1 11/16 for a lot of years, but once I got into classical guitar, the 1 3/4 seemed a little easier for transitioning. Having said that, I seem to be able to adapt and get used to any of the common sizes and thicknesses though.

@ShawnBrockMusic 2 года назад
The Crowder for sure sounded good, it was too bad that the bass E rolled off of the fretboard, but that was probably fixed by its new owner. Just a little nut work is all she needed. It was a wonderful sounding 18 for sure!

There are a few interesting things about your guitar. It has the head stock of the BG series, not the SG series. It also has the tuning pegs of the BG series, not the SG series. It does have the correct fret markers of the SG series. Was this a custom order, perhaps? It definitely sounds like an SG series. In any case, beautiful guitar. Enjoy.
@ShawnBrockMusic
@ShawnBrockMusic 2 года назад
I wondered about all of this myself, but I understand that the contradictions between each of the features is explained by it having the vintage package on it. Apparently that adds in the traditional style headstock, open back tuners, and the torrefied top. It is a good deal, the vintage pack. I need the same in a sunburst mahogany. 😀
@gds739
@gds739 2 года назад
The SG models are available with the Vintage Pack. ( the Vintage Pack includes: Torrefied top / square headstock / oper gear tuners / bone nut ) keeps all the same Studio inlays 5mm dot inlays and it set up from the factory with lights. Plays like a Studio Goose looks a bit like a Bluegrass Goose.

Hey Shawn, I’m in the market for a boutique dreadnought. What would be your top picks? I’m leaning towards Boucher, Atkins, or Collings? I appreciate your time and your playing…. Lol
@ShawnBrockMusic
@ShawnBrockMusic Год назад
All three definitely make very fine instruments. With Boucher, I think you get a lot more higher and features for the same or less than the price of a Collings. For example, if you have a preference of a Adirondack top, this is pretty standard equipment for Boucher, while with the others, you will pay a huge upgrade charge. The only thing that would make me recommend one over the other, is if you have a preference for very large vintage style necks; in that case you would probably have to go with a Collings T or vintage now option. I don’t know if it means anything, but I have owned a Boucher, and have not owned the others, though I have played them. Thanks for taking the time to watch, and I hope that you thoroughly enjoy whatever it is you end up getting.

Boucher does Not build any guitars with tops less than AAAA Grade Adirondack . That's 4 A's , not 3 . Everyone that knows Boucher , is witness to what you experinced in this video Shawn with Boucher's ability to ring and ring and ring some more . A bit of advice for every soul out there wanting a Boucher , or thinking of them as their one day guitar .... the Boucher brand is steadily picking up awareness by guitarists everywhere . Mostly from good folks like you Shawn . With that being said , demand is steady and on the rise. So is the price tag . Just saying ! Food for thought . Nothing goes down in price as they say . Robin has been excelling as a Master Luthier. His processes are superior in my ooinion and in the opinion of many other guitarists. These guitars are hand built , and ONLY the best woods used. Robin will NOT release a guitar that does not meet his insanely high standards . If you think this guitar rings crazy well ( and it does ) put a Master Grade Boucher in your hands .... if you can find one. Generally it's an "order only" guitar . The intonation will blow your mind on a Master Grade Boucher . P.S. - J.P. Cormier owns over 10 .... I've lost count but it is probably more . J.P. likes all great guitars openly , but Robin Bouchers guitars have his heart . Disclaimer : If you buy a Boucher , you'll never look at another guitar the sane again !
