Three Class 66s at Mirfield on East Sunday for TRU engineering works 

The Transpennine Route Upgrade has closed the line through Huddersfield over Easter. On the morning pf Easter Sunday, a selection of Class 66s could be seen on engineering trains at Mirfield. 66722 Sir Edward Watkin and 66773 Pride of GB Railfreight were in the platforms, while 66725 Sunderland was parked on the nearby Mirfield Viaduct. A look at the line two miles towards Dewsbury showed the scale of work taking place at Ravensthorpe, where the station is set to be relocated slightly to allow Wakefield trains to call. The TRU will ultimately speed up trains between Yorkshire and Lancashire, with cities such as Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and York all set to benefit from faster journey times. #railway #trains #trainspotting #railway #transpennineexpress
