This shows huge class of Matt as well. He knew most of the attention would go to Adam but didn't let his ego get in the way and let him have his moments.
Dropped 3DG when Adam was gone.. didn't pay too much attention to Matt but this here made me respect him, for letting Adam in front getting all the cheers while still rocking at the back.
Matt doesn’t have an ego, but he has balls of steel! Coming into a band after such a big event would’ve been gut wrenching! He’s done a great job, yeah they’ve changed styles slightly.. but still fkn love the band. This shows his class, Matt is a true hero! But he was a fan after all, this would’ve been huge for him! Q
@@thejamboo2000 I met Matt after the show in Huntington Wv. He was walking around the Lobby like everyone else. He was wearing a baseball cap but I recognized him. I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if I could get a picture with him. He was super cool about it and took a picture with me. I tried to stay discrete so he didn't get bombarded by fans.
Big moments for me were when Big 4 happened, Adam Gontier singing with Apocalyptica, Tarja sang with Within Temptation, Floor with Epica, Rammstein with Apocalyptica, or Amy Lee with Within Temptation About this. Feels like Tarja would sing with Nightwish (would be sooo CRINGE) It is something cool but not worth of calling it rock history. Rock history would have been.. lets say Adam Gontier singing with Shinedown a song. Or Myles Kennedy and Slash as guests on a TDG song.
The thing that makes Adam’s voice irreplaceable is that it’s a mixture of anger and pain. You really feel what he feels in those songs. People like Chris Cornell and Chester had that kind of voice too, full of emotion. So it’ll always enchant people.
Adam is good. But Chester Bennington was a once in a lifetime talent. Chester Bennington greatest voice in music history 🤘. Adam is great but no way even close to Chester Bennington. Adam is levels above Matt . Matt sucks just saying
True. It's not really about which singer was better. There were just certain singers in this genre that stood out from the rest. Chester Bennington, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Adam Gontier, Benjamin, Corey Taylot, Johnathon Davies, Draiman, Howard Jones, Chris Cornell etc. These guys are just singers you notice the moment their song plays on the radio.
Matt is a good vocalist, but when he sings, he's singing the lyrics. When Adam sings, he's singing the experience. That emotion is why Adam is so incredible
@@NightmareSnake oh yesss, that would be a pure perfection! And what do you think about adding Deadset Society (alright, let's just mention all of the related bands one by one, lol))) to the list?
Guys, Adam won't leave SA for TDG, wake up. He just performed with TDG as a sign that they had reconciled and for the fans to enjoy. Matt will remain the sole vocalist of TDG, and Adam will continue his activities in his current band. I think the maximum that we can expect is feat.
But look what happened with Tom Delonge in blink-182. They had Matt Skiba for years and fans were convinced Tom wasn’t coming back. Then rumours started that he’d rejoin and eventually he finally did last year. blink-182 also had worse tension at their worst than 3DG ever has, so I really don’t see why Adam couldn’t rejoin and keep Saint Asonia separately. I know these are two completely different bands.. but just saying. Tom Delonge is in blink-182 AND Angels & Airwaves.. so why can’t Adam Gontier do the same?
Saaaaame here! It would be truly amazing. As far as I know there is The High Road version with both of them somewhere out there to listen to. And some songs with them on yt. But a live show is kinda a whole new level
Adam’s never been a great live vocalist. Those verse notes are low for his voice and he’s always been weak on them. That’s why he harmonizes the first part on the 2nd verse instead of going low again.
he has that roughness to his voice that i dont believe anyone else does its rough but soft at the same time and it works for slow songs like never too late
It's just the uniqueness of its not saying he isn't a great singer, but there are so many good singers on earth it's crazy. Then you see motley crue get famous with vince neil. Dude can't sing on key to save his life....but his voice did have a very unique sound that set them apart. That's why I always loved Adam. With Matt they sound like a hard rock band. With Adam they sound like three days grace. If I heard a new song from 3DG right now I couldn't tell you. But if they released a new song with Adam, I'd know it was them(or obviously Saint Asonia) the second the vocals kicked in. No diaper to Matt, but I totally get what you mean about Adam just having something different that sets him apart.
No offense to Matt at all but Adam will always be my favorite. His songs have just gotten me through so many hard times, it’s impossible to tell and this almost brought tears to my eyes to see!
i agree. i have said repeatedly throughout the years that i loved Matt during the MDD years, but Adam's voice and song writing are his and his alone. i listen to Saint Asonia now and barely bother with "Matt's 3DG" it's just not the same and it never will be.
Y’all need to listen to Matt’s TDG songs more. I see so much hate but I would genuinely say that at least half of his songs are better than half of Adams songs. I personally prefer Matt over Adam not by much though, the song writing and style stayed the same for me. I feel like most people didn’t even listen to Matts songs and just shit on him because he’s not Adam smh
@@sinsee. no. not me. i loved Matt in MDD days, but the song writing since Adam left and Matt joined, to me, is garbage. i mean, 3DG is still going so they're doing something right. but personally i don't like what i've heard since Adam left. Painkiller is catchy, but that's about it. I like most of Saint Asonia's material, except for maybe the 1st album. Sounds way too early 2000s for me. Everything after that is much better.
Huge respect for Matt for letting the og Vocalist of TDG, Adam, himself take the stage. He knew the fans would turn to Adam the moment they see him there but he still went on and gave him the whole venue during those two classic TDG songs...
3:10-3:20 the moment between Adam and Matt shows that any bad blood between them was over and I view it as a way of Adam giving his approval to Matt to sing the songs about his life struggles.
Adam has such a recognizable voice that just cant be replicated. He IS Three Days Grace! No disrespect to Matt but, you cant replace Adam's style and voice sound
I was a big fan with Adam. Haven't listened to a single album with Matt. But I will say this. The absolute maturity of Matt to take backstage to this us incredible. From what I've heard, Matt kills it. But his pure professionalism is to be respected without question. True frontman
Honestly if both Adam and Matt sound so good together where one of them would say one line and the other would say the next verse and I think if they did song together it would sound amazing
There are some songs with their mixed vocals on yt. It is amazing. I'm not sure about the "a line for one and a verse for another" proportion, I'd say line by line would be better
Yeah. I’m not being a troll. This Matt guy is just absolutely awful in this situation at least. He has no balls and a whiny thin tone. They should’ve changed the band name. I get it they want to still make money but come on. You just can’t replace Adam, I mean you can, but this guy just ain’t it. I completely checked out since he left too
Human and Outsiders have some good tracks on them. outside of One X i was never a die hard TDG guy but i dig some tracks with Matt on them. it is cool to see Adam do a return though
@@gpittel They're not going to completely rebrand because one member left dude. I understand they took a different direction with Matt but they're still Three Days Grace.
3:09 I love how they bring the attention of the crowd to each other, really says how nice of not only vocalists, but persons they are supporting each other, respect to both of them 💜🖤💜🖤
As someone who’s only seen the 3DG band members through the music videos, it’s so weird seeing Adam with a little Mohawk and beard, as opposed to the 2000s emo hair and soul patch. Not to mention being almost 2 decades older. But it’s great to know that Adam and 3DG are still on great terms, and I love hearing both him and Matt duet the songs I’ve loved. I doubt we’ll get one, but a “Best Hits” 3DG album that has both Adam and Matt duetting the vocals would be absolutely incredible.
Not suprised by how humble Matt was. I got to hang out with him and the rest My Darkest Days after their concert at Georges Majestic Lounge. They invited a handful of us to go party with them on the tour bus. 11 years later I still tell people about the awesome experience.
@@skylarpayne5613 Saint Asonia is absolutely great and that information isn't anything new, as he's been with them for years. I would however, love to see the 2 bands tour together. Maybe even have Adam and Matt partner up for a few numbers like this, but maybe write some new songs together. I'd enjoy it. I think most fans would be happy if they did. To me it shows character that the 2 stood and sang together more than anything. No animosity, no drama bs, just playing what they're good at and I respect that, so naturally I would wanna see more.
Exactly. Adam would do lead vocals sharing with Matt (except for Painkiller etc.) and Matt would do the screams still. I’d love it Then Adam could take over acoustic guitar on the older 3DG songs (Never Too Late) with Barry sticking to electric guitar/solos as usual. All theories tho. Prob not gonna happen
You have no idea how happy I am, one of my childhood heroes reuiniting with his former friends and performing along with Matt who does an amazing job thus far being the vocalist since Adam was gone. I literally can't express how happy I am!!!! LET'S MOTHERFUCKING GO! If something like this happens in Germany , I would do anything just to attend a concert with Adam and Matt together!
So much respect for every member of 3DG and Adam. The fact that Matt could put his ego aside is very telling of his character. This was a very unexpected and magical moment. Respect.
This is not the first time Adam and Matt were on stage together when they played Never Too Late. Now, all we need is a Groundswell reunion with Phil and Joe.
I saw Adam live here in Ukraine before the war. And he was amazing. Just his guitar, him and hundreds (maybe thousands) of people watching and listening to his incredible voice. Amazing singer.
Idk. Some voices can’t be replaced in bands. Three days grace is one of them for me. Yeah they can go on to make their own music and new sound, but nothing compares to the voice that made the band.
It's just unfortunate cause I'm sure the only reason they still play old songs is for the fans but the new singer has his own style that just doesn't work for the original songs. It's almost like Sick Puppies. The new singer is fantastic and their new albums are great but when they sing original songs it just can't hold a candle to the original singer
So much agreed. I wish they had just changed names. But they only kept the name because it was already established. It's like bad wolves, the bad is completely different now
Now this is 3 Days Grace!! Haven't paid attention to anything the band did since Adam left. I actually enjoy Saint Asonia simply because of Adam and his amazing voice.
This was so so so so so so fucking amazing and immensely beautiful I'm not lying when I say that this brought tears to my eyes, seeing them finally reuniting has made beyond happy. Adam just sounds as good as ever and Matt is the one of the most gentlemen on earth. Indeed it's never too late to start a new chapter. What a time to be alive!!!
No Adams played Never too late , I hate everything about you, just like you, a bit of animal I have become, and I don't care Riot was new but he only sang it for his old band. Maybe after this reunion he'll probably sing more 3ds with saint asonia
THIS WAS SO FUCKING INCREDIBLE AND IT BROUGHT ME TO TEARS. 😢😢💙 WOULD HAVE LOVED to have seen this reunion physically in person, but just getting to see it recorded live is fucking amazing. Can't wait to see what the future might hold one day for future collaborations.
So happy this was recorded!!! I would've flipped my shit had I physically seen this, I remember 10 years ago, Me and my friends were like 2 weeks away from our first TDG show with Shinedown and then Adam just abruptly quit and Matt came in and sang his ass off beautifully. I think both of the singers could've harmonized during Never Too Late
I'm in Huntsville, AL and my hubby and I saw 3DG years ago when Adam was the lead singer and saw them like 6 times. I hate that we missed this historical moment in Rock history !
This is great to see. Everyone knows that in music, lead singers more than most, have very big and sensitive egos. For Matt to not only be willing to go along with this, but also be enthusiastically involved in it, shows him to be a solid, solid man.
I wish I was able to see this amazing moment Ik I’m younger than the majority of the three days grace fans since I’m 18 but I grew up listening to Adam then I listened to them when matt came along and seeing them both together is amazing! Also is anyone not gonna talk about Matt’s scream singing at the end of riot? I just thought it was cool lol
Bro I can hear everyone’s reactions and bro. Everyone who got to go must have felt so damn lucky bc they got to see Adam play in his original band after so long 😢 I’ll never forget the day I saw this on someone’s stream, I would’ve cried too if I saw Adam perform at one of three days Grace concert! Love you Adam! Your the man and sole source of how I got into rock!!!
Seeing and hearing this makes me want to practice super jumps in Halo 2, drink Mountain Dew and eat flaming hot Cheetos lol… I’m not a big fan anymore but I definitely had TDG on my playlists and hearing Adam sing those songs again sure brings me back. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I never gave this band a chance after Adam left. But the new lead singer is the star of this video. Just standing back and letting Adam do his thing. Going to check out all of their new stuff now. Respect.
I’m grateful to have seen Adam with TDG headline tour back in 06’ I was a baby 15 y/o who borrowed my dads truck to take my HS crush to see them. We had such nose bleed seats and I finessed my way to get front row on the right balcony near the stage for such a way better view. Almost got busted but played it smooth. 🤣 well worth it! This was so needed! Good show! 🙌🏼
It was one of my biggest dreams on my todo list was to see adam live with three days grace! Never got the chance and I'd have probably cried while I moshed if I got to see this! Love and miss you adam! Still love three days grace but it's like a different band. It could never be the same without you and I think you have some.of the best vocals in all of music
If only they played I hate everything about you, then it would of been so good but still what a great night I am sure you guys had. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us.
Damn this is such an awesome moment to see what a great video! Also Adam snapped on never too late and I liked Matt’s screams on riot that shit was tough
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Adam eventually comes back to TDG, and then he and Matt share vocal duties and trade off on rhythm guitar. Adam's hinted in the past that he thinks rejoining TDG is possible, and enough time has passed to where the personal issues between him and the other guys may have died out. Plus, they'd likely get increased fan and money support. If Van Halen could reunite with David Lee Roth, if Guns 'N Roses can bring back Slash, if Blink-182 can forgive Tom for quitting on them TWICE, and if Staind can get the ball rolling again while Mike and Aaron both have their own music projects, then surely Adam getting a second chance in TDG wouldn't be unreasonable.
