Having a good neutral is extremely important not just combos. I did casual matches against an opponent that was earthling rank and yet he squashed me even though he didn't do any powerful combos. I never felt so mocked before. I think I could beat him now because he barely even plays the game. Good defense neutral and good combos get you very far in ranked. I haven't gotten there yet but I know I will eventually.

You learn your characters and test it out in training. There's a lot of resources whether it be youtube videos or discord which goes over characters mix options. You learn those, then go into training mode with your team and figure out what works and what doesn't work. This is why knowing basic frame data is important. For example, in order for Gogeta to get his rekka mix, he needs an assist with 25 frames of blockstun or more. Otherwise, the opponent can reflect, dp, or reversal super out of the mix. Knowing this, you look at your team and think about the assist each character on your team have. Let's say you're running Gogeta with Roshi B assist and Broly A assist. Roshi B assist has 46 frames of blockstun meaning he gives Gogeta his mix. But on the other hand, Broly A only has 21 frames of blockstun meaning the opponent will be a gap in your mix where the opponent can reflect and get out. I hope that makes sense.

Yeah, Assists typically can help you in a few specific ways, so you look at your character and look for what they need. Some have an easy time getting in, but they need high blockstun assists for mixup and keeping pressure. Some don't, so they need neutral control assists to get in (beams, lariats, beam-likes). Others don't have ways to keep pressure after knockdown. So you can have a DP assist to cover the wake-up options or to get in again.

Videl has very bad defense and she doesn’t have a reflect. She does good with the category LK talked about in “double defensive assists” so any DP assists, or 18 barrier assist. Honestly man, if you’re not looking to compete; just play characters you have fun with.

@@jdrmanmusiqking I mean, that’s kind of a good way to approach a team for people who are totally new. Find a character you like as your main, then pick another character that meshes with the play style that suits your main, then finally pick one with an assist you like. Make them (I think) anchor, point, and mid, respectively. Boom - a place to start, at least.

I made a video on these in season 2, but there are way more assists now.

I'd say it's okay at best it does better in the corner because it always has a set spot for where it goes. Combing it is easier mid screen since season 3s hitstun buff and I would experiment more with it and totally try his B and C assits. Frieza isnt a bad mid or Anchor especially with the golden and spark limit break changes.

It's a blast assist, it is a pretty uncommon type of assist. Frieza A used to be ridiculous but they nerfed the blockstun ;;. It's a good assist still.

I’d personally run 18, 17, 16, and run 18 B, 17 A, and 16 B. That being said 17 works well with 18’s barrier assist and 16 is going to be your best anchor as he’ll have the best chance of opening up opponents solo.

Janemba is a really good point character; id advise against running him anchor. Move him to point and try out some characters. Example of anchors would be gt goku or trunks, or either of the ssj boys.

Janemba A is a top tier assist for 21, and also Jamemba is rising as an anchor due to his solo neutral game and his 50\50 after lvl3 in tthe corner. Characters that can alternate on point and mid and have good sinergy with 21 are Bardock and Goku Blue, and also these two have amazing stagger pressure that works well with Janemba A assist and solo pressure. So try : Android 21 A \Bardock B\Janemba A or Goku Blue A (it's fantastic for 21)\Android 21 B (it's easier to confirm Blueku 214L with it)\Janemba A This should work as all of this assist are top tier for 21 and don't think thatt much about Janemba as he plays pretty much solo (think of him as the new SSJ Vegeta) Hope I can help!

Janemba and 21 are both Awsome points with a lot of mix Just have Beerus as Anchor, or 21. Beerus needs Meter to do his cool shit, so you need a character to act as a battery to make him meter

Bad. You can make it work but there isnt enough versatility. What you gain from Major defense and extra Defense assists, you lose in Flexibility

@@raidenjeskar2823 I kinda disagree here. I think its a solid team with the ability to navigate neutral and take risk very safely. I have more to add but I think I'll put it in an edit while I research lol Edit: I thought Kyden used this team against Wawa but I was wrong. It generally seems that 1 dp assist is enough for 18 but I still see the positives in using a defensive team. Youre not wrong about the lack of flexibility though

If you want a team that has good functionality I've been messing with bardock base Vegeta and trunks

Tbh I would run 18 B assist, beam like that gives some neutral control and can combo. when you already have 2 dp assist, or dp barrier kamehameha.

Do u find a team w him? My team is Kefla, Blugeta and Trunks, I'm using the A Assist for Blugeta due is a defensive assist, but I can't find a consistently team

Gogeta has issues when he's by himself so most of the time you want to play him point, A assist is probably the best A gohan has pretty much always been played mid since this game came out. His most used assist is by far is a assist. He also has the option of a c assist beam. A21 probably functions the best solo so she goes anchor. I have never seen any professional player use any other assist besides her A assist so that's probably what you want to use. If you want to learn gogeta you can watch some games from wawa Adult gohan you can learn from watching Kazunoko and Wawa And for android 21 SonicFox has been playing her alot this season. Thanks guys. I was playing 21 point, gogeta mid and A gohan anchor as combo extensions with 21 is very easy, confirming pretty much every hit. The main trouble I am having is A gohan anchor as I cannot play his neutral game.

Gogeta isn't a good anchor. He needs assist in order to enable a lot of his mix and to help him in neutral since his buttons are slow. Yeah he have beams as ki blasts but they have so much recovery that it's not hard to evade them. Gogeta is best point and can sometimes play mid depending on the team. Gogeta with Bardock B assist is a really good mixture since Bardock B has a lot of Blockstun, it allows Gogeta to get off all his mix options with minimal risks. If you don't know his mix options, I can link you a video that goes over a lot of his mix. I don't know much about the synergy between Gogeta and Hit. If you want to play these characters, I would play Gogeta with A assist at point, Bardock with B assist at mid, and Hit with either A or B assist in anchor.

That order is pretty good actually. Out of the 3, Kefla gets the most help with assists so putting her point is an ideal spot. Trunks has some mix and he eats up a lot of bar, so he's a decent anchor.

I use kefla A Gogeta A or C and Trunks beam

I mean you can use characters that go into any team such as Yamcha, SSJ Goku, SSJ Vegeta, Trunks, Goku Black,and GT Goku. Kefla and Vegito both get a lot from Android 18’s barrier assist.

@@icycjanto trunks wouldnt have synergy with baseku for his spirit bombs. I actually have pretty much the same team but its point Teen Gohan mid S Broly and Baseku anchor. I would say he should go like Kid Buu, Teen Gohan, cell, A Gohan, GT Goku, Z Broly, or any other mid that synergizes with baseku.

@@ricniclas I'm not used to using dp assist, even though I have been using Cooler for a while who has a dp assist. So I'll go with SSJ Goku because I know how to use a beam assist effectively. Thanks for the advice.

On a basic level these characters are easy to learn and play. Nappa may be a tough one to grasp as his combo routes are different then the rest of cast. Ginyu can take a minute to learn and play as you have to rely on the Ginyu force to do many of his combos and set ups. Also a lot of game awareness is needed to keep track of your Force order. I would recommend checking out a guide for them Nejihuga4real is a great reference. And the man him self Lordknight has a great reference for what gotenks can do on a higher level once your comfortable with the game.

I get that they are simple to play but they are boring to me. My other favourites are Teen Gohan, Android 21, Android 17, Kid Buu, GT Goku. I’d just like a team to mess around on while I learn lol

I started a few months ago and decided to play Nappa. When I started my team was Nappa A, Tien B, Base Goku A. Nappa works REALLY well with Base Goku's A assist and he can use Tien's A and B assist pretty well. Idk about the other characters you listed. Edit: Forgot to mention that my team now is Blue Vegeta B, Nappa A, Base Goku A. This team has a little more synergy I think.

Ill be honest with you, The characters you listed can be pretty technical at the highest level so they have some things that can be tricky to learn compared to the others in the roster. But just for messing around you should probably expirament with base goku He gets spirit bomb setups from both gotenks and nappa and is fairly straightforward to play while being one of the best characters in the game. His A assist can also teach you the fundamentals of doing a mix up something pretty important to learn. Ginyu just needs a character that is really good at getting the first hit, you can build alot of teams around him. Example teams: Gotents- A/B Nappa- A/B Base Goku- A Bardock -A/B Ginyu- A/B Android 21- A Gotenks- A/B Ginyu- A/B Base Goku/Android 21- A Gotenks is usually played point, Nappa is played mid pretty much all the time, Ginyu point or mid but mid is probably better because sometimes he can have problems getting the first hit, Base Goku is played last/Anchor, Android 21 is usually played last but she can go anywhere on a team. For reference the Technical stuff i mentioned earlier are Gotenks- Ghost oki Ginyu- Ginyu force oki and combos Nappa- Saiba man oki and combos You can check those up if you feel like it
