I have to say Jamie that that was really satisfying to watch. And the finished piece is really pleasing on the eye.

Thank you for Watching @WhittlingWW Don't tell anyone, but I've started making another one after you had gone, and I'd put a leg on the seat. So, I'll have an Ernie, to go with Eric. Jamie

The black finish took this from good to great, the hole and the oiled topcoat make it into a thing of practical beauty. Bravo!

You'll be able to put a lamp in the hole too occasionally - if you sit to read! Love the finish - looks great.

I know. I'm looking for an old Chrome Cycle type lamp to add to another stand. Would look very cool and great for reading.

yeah one of the nice things about the burned finish is that it will soak up a HUGE amount of oil and stay protected for a long time
@twcmaker
@twcmaker 3 месяца назад
Made sense to use some of the Teak Oil up then. It could have been a costly exercise using Danish Oil only.

@@twcmaker I do, but i mostly know about burned finishes from cabin siding where its used in place of paint or stain
@twcmaker
@twcmaker 3 месяца назад
Yes I get that. It's a finish that'd not used anywhere near as much on furniture.. 🤔 Hmm.. Going to change that up a bit I think. So what do you do?

17:47 love it. Knowing me, I will probably add a coat of blue or green blo paint, just to make it a bit sloyd coloured

I profoundly live those kind of stools . I do make wedges in order to fix them when the legs’ tenons don’t go through . You too?

Fixed Wedges are very cool. Never really had the reason to do them. More a joinery practice that would never be taken apart or repaired.

Does that count as shetoyance? Eather way ....... I like it! .... I like it a Lot! One question ...... with you putting so much oil on there, will it come out later as temp changes?
@twcmaker
@twcmaker 3 месяца назад
I think it does count as Chatoyance. No, it's fine. the oil has been absorbed into the wood. The small percentage of Danish Oil contains Dryers. So the can't work out past that now it's dried off. And the oil inside has slowly oxidised. So no runny goo should creep out. 👍

No wax at all. Just the Danish Oil/Teak oil mix. Then Danish Oil after that. 👍
