Three Misconceptions of the Zodiac Sign: Scorpio 

Gosh, Scorpio sun folks don’t get enough credit for being really competent, resourceful, and driven. Also, we all need someone who performs well in crisis-who can accompany us to the gates of hell. I have often noticed that Scorpios are very crafty, less drawn into social media, and more focused on making/creating than other signs. I love these folks!

You forgot to mention a scorpio doom grudge can be alleviated solely by offering us snacks ^_^

An ex of mine had his moon in Scorpio in his 6th house, I remember him telling me he has enemies from his past of long ago. He was a great lover, always felt protected in his company & he also has this quality of drawing issues/secrets that I thought were buried deep within me. I addressed these which lead to great healing & I'm very thankful of him for that.

As someone who is a Scorpio Sun, Moon, Rising, Venus, Saturn, Pluto, South node and Juno…. Watching this video made me feel incredibly understood.

Have you thought about making a series where you take both opposing signs, such a taurus and scorpio, gemini and sagittarius etc. and compare and unify the axis of both of them and how one is the mirror of the other and all that? Sun in Scorpio, I can relate to this. I often say “I don’t trust people who don’t see me.” If I’m being transparent and open about what’s occurring for me and someone in anyway not able to grasp it (basically dismissing or changing the subject and I can tell they didn’t let it sink in) then I don’t trust that they are aware enough to consider me in certain situations, so I don’t trust them. Sounds simple and soo easy to distrust as I type that.. but maybe another Scorpio would understand what I mean lol.

I actually really like Scorpios.

Scorpio rising with Pluto right on the ascendant. This was spot on, I have always had low tolerance for superficiality and you cannot bullshit me. I've softened as I've developed my psyche but the whole protective/hyper vigilance thing mainly manifests in a general difficulty getting to know me. I'm pretty open and vulnerable these days but I can't feign interest. When it comes to other people, I'm borderline obsessed or I'm disinterested, there's not really a middle ground. Developing emotional awareness has been essential for me so I don't sabotage relationships or hurt others unintentionally.

Scorpio stellium..sagittarius rising..worked in art,prison ministry and learned alot about Pluto and destruction.Scorpios get shade because we see hidden stuff and are all about transformation..death,rise as phoenix, but many are not willing to give up what is ailing them.

Great assessment of Scorpio - especially the dark flavor that’s referenced to them most of the time is really connected to the natural cycle of the seasons, the darkening of the light, the shorter days and the dying of vegetation (in the northern hemisphere). And, as they progress, one degree per year, the days get even shorter. The light is not outside. It’s within. For evolved Scorpios, this indicates a very introspective sign that finds the light within.

Exactly- when you said something like “if you can’t see it I can’t trust you” I absolutely think that. (scorp moon)

wish you had said something about the "vengeful" accusation against Scorpio (my ascendant) Because, as you spoke of the trust things, I do see that IF someone breaks my trust no matter how close we were I am unable to just let it slide past. I continue to harbor a feeling of caution (you talked about that) in that I am nor prepared to experience the break of trust again. No clue what that is. But I also know it makes for an EXTREMELY loyal friend when the trust is upheld.

This may be a bit long, so sorry, but thank you for this! Your entire discussion really hit home, and was actually very healing for me! I am a Scorpio Rising (conjunct Lilith Scorpio + Scorpio Uranus that hits everything in my chart including my Leo Sun, hah!) with Mars Cancer sextile my ascendant. Growing up, especially as a teenager, my feelings were always invalidated that lead to major distrust in everyone around me including myself. Now, at 40, I am finally trusting myself again so I can learn how to trust others with those feelings again. Also despite being very kind, helpful and gentle. I am very much a watchdog, can pick up on the BS, know your intention towards me before you even say it and it can lead to obsession. Because, as far as my psyche, is concerned you are a threat to me, my home, or family, and I am going to study you like a hawk. It feels like I am a female warrior instead of delicate flower and my own expression of femininity has a bit of edge to it instead of pastel pink. I also feel like a protector of disempowered women and "need" to share information to help re-empower them.

Thank you for this, I’m a Scorpio moon and I REALLY needed to hear that bit about simply accepting that I’m not a “light” type of person today. I often struggle with feeling VERY jealous of my taurus friends who seem content and have that beautiful simplicity about them, and I see them embracing the abundance of life. Scorpio sun Venus Saturn mercury here, everything you said was spot on. All my life I’ve been told I’m “too much“. My only other thought about misconceptions of Scorpio is that we are “obsessed with sex”. Not! But it seems as though the rest of the world expects that we are just because we are Scorpios. I'm a Scorpio ascendant (Pluto conjunct asc, Mars in 1st), Pisces 🌞, Leo 🌙... I love people deeply. I feel like I see everyone's pain, and they seem like hurt children that need caring and understanding. For better or worse, I feel a sense of responsibility to everyone. My family makes fun of me because, complete strangers will randomly stop and tell me their life story. It seems they sense no judgement from me, and know they're safe telling me where all they're skeletons are buried. I can handle the darkness, and they leave feeling understood, unburdened, lighter, and cared for (their words, not mine). Afterwards, many will express shock at having shared so much. I often hear, "I've never told anyone that before," just a few minutes after meeting someone. I have this experience everywhere...at the park, in line at the grocery store, at the mechanic, sitting at a restaurant. People take me a few ways...either with complete trust, complete suspicion cause "no one can be that nice", or an uneasy feeling of transparency around me. And yes, when people are lying, I usually know, and it sucks. It would be nice to be ignorant of the deception many times. I try to understand why they feel the need to lie (it really isn't any of my business), but Imagine how cringy it feels to play along with their awkward story, pretending to believe every word. It doesn't usually upset me, and even if it hurts my feelings, everyone deserves their secrets and boundaries. One thing to note...it can sometimes be problematic when, (after unburdening themselves) some may feel bonded to me, and cling to me. It has become obsessive. I have to be VERY careful with that. I've moved around my entire life and I've had many tiny intense experiences with people, but that's usually all they are...blips in the timeline of life. It's as if I was only meant to be there to listen to that person that one afternoon, then be somewhere for someone else the next. Some people do not understand that, and I've had to figure out how to set up boundaries for myself. Also, I've felt rather alone because I've had difficulty finding sincere friendships with those I could trust in return, and who would accept me for who I am inside. I do have a friend like that now, and the friendship was so worth the wait.

Scorpio Moon in the 10th house here....WOW! This made me not only feel SEEN and understood, but also, the tips you gave feel SO FREEING! A lot of my issues in relationships have definitely come from trying to force people to go deeper, have more presence, awareness of their shadows, expecting people to have compassion for heavy things, and just in general having a very SPECIFIC way that I want people to behave and respond to emotional things. I'm excited to let go more, and let everything BE ! It sounds way more relaxing AND safe for me, to just wait for the invitations to offer my insights and have them wanting to go to these places with me in the first place. It would be a much more graceful and easeful state of flow in my life and relationships.

Me, a scorpio rising (and stellium) have waited patiently fo this episode! Your interpretation could not be more perfect to what I feel, I have always been strongly oppinionated and outspoken about superficiality, very melancholic also... and my mom cant stand it! she takes my comments and my approach to life personally, and she def, has been really hurtfull towards me just because I dont fit into this sweet and soft girl stereotype, which I can be btw. I think we (I) portray to others Marcial qualities they fear and neglect and its pretty obvious when someone just doesnt open themselves to darkness but IT IS hard to overcome those rejections. I do feel isolated sometimes and judged just because of those misconseptions. Loved the last part where you mentioned accepting our own nature, I do feel jelous of people who feel and seem lighter and happier, I wish I was like that sometimes, I need to remind myself Im worthy of love. On the other side my close friends have always valued the fact that I tell them how I feel, Im honest and usually can see below the surface. I’m a Scorpio, in fact my birthday is today, and just last week I got a call out of the blue from a couple I know socially who had just brought their mother/mother in law to hospice, they were understandably distraught and said they didn’t know who to call and then they thought of me, I was touched and it intuitively made sense, I sat with them the next day in hospice care and also at the wake this week. I was marveling to myself how even as a child I was attracted to the stories of the underworld, Hades, Persephone etc. Even my Venus is in Scorpio and long before I knew my chart I once posed for a painting called “Venus Of The Tombs”!

When I first learned I was a Scorpio rising, I could not relate at all, thinking only of negative misconceptions. I have since learned to appreciate and embrace Scorpio as my understanding increases. Yes, intensity has always been part of my psyche, as well as extremely protective of my family. I think I have always had that underlying fear of not being accepted and validated for who I am and how I think. I am still trying to understand the role Neptune plays for me as it is also in Scorpio. Love this series of talks, so enlightening!

Love this series and how you validate all the signs. 28° Scorpio Rising here. I can definitely identify with being a watchdog. Love that visual of the Cane Corso watching out. After a childhood where I collected many reasons to mistrust, much of my adult life has been about going into the depths to bring the darkness out into the light. On first sight, I do appear friendly and can be very light hearted, (Gemini Sun & Mercury), but to get closer you must be willing to unearth your depth. I just got a vision of paying a toll to a dark creature to cross the bridge. People who are not interested in the depths do not stay in my life. I get easily bored without depth, and, I suspect, they get rather nervous. It's taken me a long time to fully understand and accept this part of my psyche, but now, in later life, I love it and own it wholeheartedly.

I have a Scorpio Sun, Mercury, and Pluto in the 12H. I bring Mercury/Pluto into this because they’re tightly conjunct and loosely conjunct my Sun. Paranoia is an excellent word to describe my ability to perceive danger. I often live in perpetual fear of betrayal especially from a partner 7H is Mercury. However I’m slowly understanding that the 12H kinda forces me to think about betrayal or perceive most things as threats. Learning Astrology has made this both better and worse, my Scorpio Sun is the ruler of my 9H. More often than naught my true intuition, not my conscience mind is more correct. I think Pluto in Scorpio makes these qualities of perceiving threats infinitely worse. I’m learning to address and deal with this Saturn is conjunct my ASC and I have a Cap Moon, I think those placements increase my connection to fear, loss, and darkness.

I was so relieved a few years ago when I earnestly began my astrological journey. Learning I was born, near midnight, while the moon was in Scorpio, helped me to accept my intensity and need for deep authenticity. Traits that I find mostly Scorpio suns can appreciate. Grateful for this, thank you.

This resonates and I appreciate the effort and love into dispelling some of the misconceptions here. I'm a Taurus rising with Merc., Venus, Jupe, Pluto, the North Node, and my Descendant in Scorpio and people have often scapegoated me or been afraid of that heightened awareness. But over the course of my life I've felt like I've been able to funnel that into facing darkness head on and finding it within me to love all things. It's helped me feel more whole in all of my light and shadow aspects. And it's deepened my love for others and my self. It's put me in touch with compassion for both myself and others. It's helped me accept darkness and approach it with love while learning my own limits and self-respect. I mean these placements have certainly been challenging and heavy, and definitely intense, but honestly I wouldn't trade that for anything. I hope that others that might be afraid of the Scorpio archetype can eventually glean the medicine it has to offer. How fitting it is too that I am devoted to Hekate who is a guide in darkness, cthonic, torchbearer, soul guide, psychopompe, occupies the liminal, etc. She herself seems pretty scorpionic now that I think of it, she's been demonized herself and embodies much of these traits. No wonder I was drawn to her

Always perfect timing! I have Venus in Scorpio. I also have Saturn conjunct my ascendant in Gemini. In other words I am deeply skeptical and my BS antenna are super sensitive. I think I have presented as a "buzzkill" and "wet blanket" many times and as a result I tend to withdraw into my dark places. I bring a dark practicality to my relationships and in love this has been a bummer to my partners. I find that darkness exciting and real. My other placements help me to see that this is hard on folks, but I still take more delight in confronting and accepting the dark parts of life than I do in trying to manufacture "hope and light." Thanks for this video series!

My father had his sun, mercury, mars and Venus in Scorpio. He was intense. My south node is in Scorpio. I was always frightened by the ‘darkness’ he inhabited and at the same time I loved his depth of compassion for those whose were experiencing tough times. I have to say he completely confused me. My chart is Pisces loaded, sun, mercury, mars, Saturn and Chorion. I could best describe my experience with him as being a merging of currents and I spent years trying to swim toward and isolate my own current. It has taken me years (into my 50’s) to finally accept and explore the deeper currents of life to gain a more wholesome understanding of life (Neptune in Scorpio) Thank you so much for this, it explains my dad perfectly as well as the other Scorpio’s in my life.

I'm a Cancer sun Pisces moon Scorpio asc and just got done watching your Pisces misconception video where you spoke on the simultaneous flow between yin and yang and then to watch this and learn that darkness grows within scorpio... my childhood makes so much more sense lol. I never understood why most of the time I didn't have close of friends and felt that maybe it was just the way I'd been raised when in actuality I was just around alot of solar children. We didn't fully exist in the same realms and looking back its kind of funny thinking of myself as the "dark child" when I was simply aware and protective🤷🏾‍♀️ I remember in elementary my younger brother and I had been in an after school program (I did cheerleading and dance and he practiced robotics) well one day we had been let out of practice early and I saw that the boys had been outside playing football in the field furthest away from the playground. Well, out of no where I see my little brother bawling his eyes out running up to a teacher and when I tell you it was like the devil himself came up out of me🤣🤣 instead of walking up to him I listened to him tell the teacher that he'd been called a cry baby and pushed by the boys (he'd been in 3rd grade and I in 5th the boys had to have been slightly older than my brother and I) so I , in my cheer skirt and white shoes, stalk over into the muddy field, finds the biggest kid, snatches him by his shirt collar (which I'd been told slightly lifted him off the ground) and says " Don't call my little brother a cry baby again," and proceeds to drop this kid onto the muddy grass and walks off. 😂 Then as I'm walking I see all the girls that I'd just practiced with looking at me weird and I run up the slide and bawl my own eyes out because wtfff did I just do?!?!?! Yes I Protected my brother but the energy radiating off me had been otherworldly! I had 3-4 other similar experiences before the age of 10.

A few months ago I watched your video: Scorpio and the Horror of True Love, and I really appreciated the way you talked about this sign. I myself am I scorpio sun and rising, and always hated how people labeled that sign. Another stereotype I always hear is that scorpio is all about death, sex and money. (probably due to the fact that in modern astrology the houses are assigned to the sign, which fuels bad stereotypes even more sadly) anyhow, I cannot tell you how many times people were shocked when they found put I‘m a double scorpio. some people didn‘t even believe me because I didn‘t fit in their weird stereotyped version about scorpios 🤦🏼‍♀️ and if you talked to men about this they were usually like: ahh your a scorpio, I heard you guys bring danger with you everywhere you go and are amazing in bed. 🙃

Adam, this was so interesting. Thank you! My son has a stelium in Scorpio in the 12th & 1st houses; sun, moon, Venus, Mercury & Ascendant. My husband and I also have Scorpio Ascendants along with Neptune in Scorpio. Caroline Casey said to me, “Whoa!! Three master hypnotists! Just be sure to use that power wisely!” I don’t think I’ve ever felt the transformative energies of Scorpio more potently than I have in the past two years. And now. It’s amazing!!

Thank you for this Acyuta-bhava.. I'm a Scorpio Sun, with Mars and Neptune also in there.. in my 12th house (my solar return was yesterday and I just completed a 12th house year). I have constantly not identified with the whole Scorpio vibe.. because I believe it is so misunderstood in MSM. My thoughts tend to go to darkness first.. and I am deep... but I am deeply loving, and deeply loyal and deeply trusting while not at the same time.. watchful is such a good word. We are all, so uniquely, a mix of all the infinite possibilities of the Universe aren't we? Blessings.

It’s interesting hearing you talk about the importance of dark and light throughout the year and how that symbolizes the seasonal nature of each sign. All the planets in my natal chart are all in signs of the dark half of the year, in additional to having a night chart with most planets below the horizon as well (with Jupiter barely peeking above the Ascendant), and I definitely agree with the idea that rather than being someone who is a “perpetrator” of darkness or destruction we’re just more aware and in tune with the reality of darkness and destruction, we’re just aware. My Ascendant is in Scorpio with Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury, and it just makes sense to me the death and destruction are a natural part of the cycle, and can be an ordered part of the cycle too. Unregulated growth is just as bad (like cancer), and it is necessary that faulty or disordered things need to be broken down so that they can be reused as building blocks for life anew. It’s interesting you mentioned your mom was an ER nurse, I also worked in an ER and plan to work in one again once I finish schooling. I feel like to people outside the ER it may be strange how truly unfazed ER workers can be by the chaos. I feel like Sagittarius is another common sign I see in ER workers, it’s really not mentioned enough how darkness is such a big part of Sagittarius too. Sometimes I feel like the stereotypes of Scorpio is more apparent in those with the Moon in it rather than the Sun. Not to push the idea that they’re all bad or anything, but it seems to me there’s a distinct anxiety and defensiveness that’s more readily expressed in people with Scorpio Moons than Suns. Maybe it’s the fact the Moon is in fall there. I mean, obviously I’ve met Scorpio Moons who aren’t that anxious or defensive, but I’m just saying it seems more common than Suns. In any case, Scorpios of some form always seem to come into my life and I honestly do get along well with them or at least I understand them. I’m excited to listen to yours on this for Sagittarius and Pisces

I'm a Scorpio rising & I'm only recently becoming aware of how well I am able to read between the lines. I'm glad you're addressing how this can lead to complete paranoia bc I've fallen into that trap too lol. I'm now learning to balance these abilities more properly. I'm a professional diviner & since I've been through the depths myself I find that I can help people without judgment. I'm very grateful for my Scorpionic journey of transformation, , if not always as comfortable. My dad is a Scorpio Sun, and he is not in touch with even his own shadow at all. What he hides beneath the surface is very dark indeed, let's leave it at that. It's important for anyone to work on integration, but for Scorpios all the more so. I think that a lot of the stereotypes come from troubled Scorpios taking out this energy on others. They can be very dangerous people indeed, at least in my personal experience. However a lot of my best & deepest friends are Scorpios too 🖤

Watching this video reminded me of watching a theatrical play about Scorpio. I have a stellium in Scorpio but my Sun Scorpio is a cusp with Sag so that lightens it a little bit. Still, it can be very intense as you say. I always see the worst bits in people or rather the more truthful bits that stick out like a sore thumb to me at least but maybe ignored by the person in question. However over the years I have learned to have compassion and to flip it round and begin to see the best in people as often when I over critique a person, it ends up coming true like a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy so time has taught me, now I am approaching my 2nd Saturn Return on November 20th, (well, I've been IN it since 2018 when Uranus went into my Taurus Moon) but I have now learned to have a huge amount of compassion that I could never have had, had I always just stayed on the surface as so many do. I thank my Scorpio placements of which there are 4 and can honestly say although it's a hard sign to live out, it makes one a truly empathic Healer on every level, if you can roll with its punches, as it were. Thank you for validating me! I am SO Scorpio. I have my Sun, Rising and Venus in Scorpio in the 1st, and I have Mercury and Mars in Scorpio in the 12th. I also have Saturn in the 8th (directly opposing my moon), as well as 4 planets at 8 degrees. I feel everything so deeply. It is hard for my mind to process life. Most things I do are ‘all in’ or I don’t do it at all. I scare some people with going ‘all in’ on things that seem superficial to them. I hated working in corporate because it was so superficial and inauthentic. I hate spending too much time in the superficial….but life requires it at times. I love digging into the human condition and want to help others see the depths. I struggle with my earthy family not being able to see their destructive behavior. I am so aware of my own morbidity that I don’t want to waste a minute of life.,But that paralyzes me and so I can struggle with making decisions. There’s a poetic humor with this, I watched this the day it was posted and finally remembered to like and comment like 3 weeks later.. One of my best friends has a strong scorpio and I’ve known strong Scorpios in my life where we get along amazingly because I have many similar scorpio traits, but they come from different places. There’s an air quality along with some earth where water is probably my weakest element. It’s positive because I’ll intellectualize water and they’ll do the opposite, but I’m very “flighty” where misunderstandings happen plus that air quality can go a bit too far. If I get into a flighty mode I’d definitely have to state why (at some point) what that is and they’ll appreciate it honestly even I say I’m in a very self absorbed mindset. If no answer is given, it’s a problem. Case in point is this reminded me a friends birthday was soon, got sidetracked about 10 times, then remembered I forgot to hit the like button. (Actually looking).. yes, I have intense air as my strongest element and water is my weakest, but water can be very useful because I have Jupiter, uranus, and south node in water. Mainly south node and Jupiter because those are in the 11th and 7th houses.

💯% Scorpio sun and rising. We reside in the shadow and when are mentally stable we observe all of the evils from a place of knowing the necessity for them. Murder is wrong but what if someone was robbing your grandmother and you had to protect someone. I love your positivity about Scorpio (+Eagle/Phoenix)...and I have mars and Saturn in Scorpio in the 2nd, so I have my own Scorpio influences, especially my masculine nature being very Scorpionic because its my male planets positioned there ( loose conjunction by 10*)... Wow! I'm currently in the middle of a divorce from a Scorpio sun. This actually helped me to understand him better. He definitely falls under the category of obsessive and the more dysfunctional version of Scorpio that you described. But, he also was very much a protector and guardian, although he did it in a bit of an annoying and bossy way, and he also is an excellent BS detector. One thing that really sticks out is that he has always been obsessed with death, but not in the good way, in a very fearful way that I think causes his life to be very difficult. The problem is that when scorpios feel offended, they do not talk about it directly with person involved but they will go on the attack that you really won't know what it is that offended them. They often misunderstand or misinterpret a person's intentions.
