Connecting with clients can be really tricky and it’s something new designers are often afraid to do for fear of ‘messing up.’ In this video I first tell a story about how even a childhood business plan can have some elements of success and then dive into 3 of the things that I did when I first started freelancing and was looking to connect with clients that I wouldn’t do again if I was starting over today. I’m calling them mistakes, but really what these things did was slow down my rate of success when I was trying to amp it up.

Hi Elizabeth ~ LOVE your wonderful videos! Do you have an example of what to send to prospective clients, instead of the really long email you sent? What kind of emails are you sending instead? (The short version! LOL!) I understand what NOT to do (from your great video here), but could you provide a sample email of what a good prospective-client-outreach-email, would look like? I make this "too long email" mistake a lot. Thanks!

"Computer Aided Design" and in this context it means that I do digital art for products. This is a common industry term for pattern designers who work in-house.
