Not seeing deer? Try driving to work early in the morning while it’s still dark. Do this when you are already running late and it’ll quadruple your odds. Sumbitches will be jumping across the road like Peter Pan. Works every time!

You are correct, I leave for a Work at 3am... I live in doniphan missouri out on a 2 lane.... if you take 3am add a small amount of "I'm in a hurry" with a touch of "shit I'm late", you will 100% see more eyeballs and street stragglers than you'd ever see on the hunt.

@@reddawng43x91 I shot a doe and one minute later my daughter shot the buck that was on the other end of the woods. He was coming from the opposite direction. That is only the second doe shot by either of us since she has been hunting, and since 2009 for me. We have both been taking bucks about every year but this year. I wasn't to worried about it as I had passed up a couple of smaller bucks for next year and I'm having surgery this Friday so I wanted to get a tag filled. Most of the rut is on the downhill here now anyway. That girl has taken a buck every year since I've taken her hunting though. Funny when she started hunting I told her not to get discouraged if she didn't shoot a buck for 4 years.lol She shot a double last year the second day out within 30 minutes. I said you know I have you in my best spot right, she said yes you told me before. If I can hunt the last weekend of muzzle loading season I will though. We will see how I'm feeling in two weeks, as we are lucky and no one else is hunting our woods and the presure is low in a high hunting area.

Deer blend in extremely well with their environment! During the fall when the leaves are down, and deer are standing perfectly still, they can seem virtually invisible!! I recall on more than one occasion, looking diligently in a certain direction through WIDE OPEN hardwoods, and suddenly seeing does standing there at 40 yards staring at me, making me wonder how on earth I didn’t see them!! I don't use the climbing harness and strap that comes with this product since I already have upgraded that for comfort. I do save it for a guest though. It works fine, but takes a lot of work to strap in compared to aftermarket harnesses. I will buy this climber again when my daughter is old enough to climb. I know he covered being seen, heard or smelled, but it my mind being seen because of movement is the biggest culprit. Deer are way, way better at picking up movement than humans. When I first started bow hunting, I went for the first two years without seeing any deer. The clue light came on for me when my brother-in-law and I were discussing how bad the mosquitos were. He showed how he was keeping them off the eye opening in his head net, using a long twig with just the tinniest bit of movement. I pictured myself in the stand swatting away with my hands like I was directing traffic. He was sitting motionless while I was flailing away. As soon as I stopped all movement, I started seeing and harvesting deer.

some pretty good info. Some other stuff to keep in mind is use the terrain to your advantage. He touched on it a bit with using creek beds and whatnot to conceal your movements but my favorite spot to rifle hunt is a gully. its only about 400 yards from where i park to where i sit but i sit about half way down the side of this gully and I always see deer coming out at the bottom. The design of the gully helps to keep my scent away from the deer because the wind blows it over the top of them. plus they love walking down at the bottom of it because it gives them just enough cover to feel safe and it protects them from heavy winds. Then theres the fact that deer very seldom look up. so even though i sit almost completely open they never notice me.

Very true. My friend and I got one by hunting a pressured 2 quarter section crown grazing lease here in Alberta. I came in from the west fence line. Then cut in to the center. Just over a very small hill I saw the ears of mule deer run in the direction of my friend. Less than a minute later...BANG! The plan worked that time. My Whitetail buck was a bit of an accident. I couldn't scout another stricter access controlled grazing lease. Set up looking at where the does were moving last year. Nothing. Late morning I went for a quiet stroll to look for sign. Not much. Went down to the lake along the cow trail to see where they were moving to water to plan for the afternoon sit. Saw the flash of the white tail 60 yards up the hill. Hello 5x4 buck. BANG!

If you are looking for an animal, you are going to miss them. You look for movement or something out of place. I was a kid and standing there looking at the same tree my dad was pointing out a squirrel in. I couldn't see it. He asked what I was looking for. I said "A squirrel DUHHH!!" He was like that is why you are not seeing it. Look for a flick of the tail, an ear, a tree branch wiggling, a leaf moving the wrong direction based on the wind. I started doing that and the whole woods became full of animals. With deer. Know where the deer hide. Hunt the edges of those areas. Stay out of sight, downwind, and BE QUIET when entering and exiting. I still remember setting in my tree stand on public land and multiple hunters walking past a small wooded area not far from the parking area on private land. After the hunters went into the woods and got up in their trees this huge buck crawled out of that little wooded area and went over and grazed next to their trucks. About 11 am that deer walked back and laid down in that same wooded area when the guys started down out of their stands about 150 yards inside that woods. Heard them complaining that there were no deer in that area that day.

I don’t necessarily agree with getting in way before daylight and or getting out way after dark, I have done both however it just depends on how the deer move through your property when you do it, this past hunting season I always got into my stand 5 minutes before shooting light because the deer on my property were moving through an hour and a half to a half hour before daylight, and it just so happens I didn’t spook one deer this year, and I saw over 300 deer I would estimate, got a nice 10 point out of it aswell👍

This is my first year deer hunting. And I thought I was messing up completely by not understanding all the walk slow control your sent but I was wrong. It was our neighbors who have a hunting lease that pushed all the deer away from us. Now I'm doing this low budget as it's my first year and this stuff is expensive. So when I'm in my woods I just sit on hill sides against trees and so far that has been working out. I see deer from time to time and only shot once. But the actually thrill of sneaking up on a deer had me hooked.

I'm on scent, being down wind, and being in early and being quite going in but not pressure being a bad thing. Pressure keeps deer moving. And some areas are in fact less populated than others. No rub lines, and scrapes and no tracks indicate not as much deer. Here in my state we can bait. No tracks until I bait. But as you said...... Get in early with no noise. I got in wayyy early to a blind, and only ONE spike showed up to go at the mineral block. Maybe where I set up my blind wasn't a good spot. I camoed it up like crazy and the spike busted my gun barrel out the window.

I've been hunting the same public land spot for roughly 12 with success and usually get a deer before gun season. I'm always in my stand 90 minutes before day light, and if hunting the afternoon, I'm back in a minimum of three hours before dark. I just popped 6 point last nigh with about 10 minutes of shooting light left. Went back to get my stand out of the land today, and as I pulled up, to guys were coming out around 10:30. They said they saw my truck yesterday and did not come into the woods. That is very courteous of them, but I told them that I view it as it's public land and as long as they're not hunting on top of me, they have as much right to be there as I do. But there are some who set up a blind right on the main trail only about 60 yards from the road, then get pissy when someone crosses their path.

I hunt public land, I always show up for twilight, past two days I’ve seen 30+ deer and had two of them within ten feet clueless I was there, be silent, always try to get set up where the wind in your face, movement is what they notice the most visually. I’ve stood almost face to face with a deer and it still questions weather I’m there or not since I don’t move and it can’t smell me. Being quiet with patience and scouting your spots ahead of time leads to best results, I downed my first buck this year setting up over watching the same spot I saw a doe come out of the field the day prior. I'm a Michigan hunter. Seems like everyone in Michigan is a hunter too. You really have to know the least populated places to hunt in, and it seems to be mostly in the extreme North or the extreme South in this state. Mid-Michigan state land I have washed my hands of. I have had too many bad hunts because locals show up the middle of opening morning and flop down on a bucket not 50 yards from my blind. Meanwhile I have spent months putting in the time to research to prepare in order to be sure I am in a place where hunting pressure seems the lowest. It's gotten to the point that my brother and I are looking for private land to buy to get away from other people who don't put in the time, but also don't care who's hunt they spoil.

In the "off season" I "dry hunt". That is hunting without a bow or gun. I do this all through the off season. I know my woods. I know my quarry. I know where the deer are going to be and approximately what times they will be there. So when season opens rarely am I skunked. I fill all my tags and the freezer. In other words... you should know what the hell your doin before season opens. Success year after year after year is not accidental or luck.

I only hunt public lands. By choice. My favorite stories are of the deer I shot that came right past other hunters who try to stand me off. I have hunted the same 80 acres (opening day of rifle season) for thirty years and can usually tell where the other hunters are going to be. Knowing my woods, I then pick a spot that uses this information. Also, I am ALWAYS the FIRST person on stand opening two days. I let the other hunters move the deer to me. Just a tip at the end there. As I no longer live in the state that I hunt in, my "scouting" is limited to one day and usually the week before the hunt.

Unless you are putting down feed or saltlicks which is not hunting in my opinion, and should be illegal, stand hunting is a waste of time. If you have someone take you out to a stand on their property where they see deer everyday in the off season that is not hunting. It’s buying a deer. The last part of this video is exactly right. Hump to where other hunters are not. Keep your eyes on the skyline. Walk in concealment ie. thick trees, creek beds. Look far away to close. Get to where other hunters won’t go. Excellent video and I am not bagging on it, I just detest hunters who just pay for a guide who tells that at 8am your deer will be at this location!
