I listened to this for about 15 minutes, then found that stereo with cans was too maddening. I switched to mono, and this became sublime. After watching for another 30 minutes, I was struck with how this lacked the subtlety of the Disintegration Loops. But I made the mistake of watching this before Hainbach's 17 minute intro and explanation. After I watched that, this video made so much more sense. I now appreciate this version of disintegration on a deeper level, given the steps Hainbach had to to take to create an effect similar to Basinski's work. High praise is deserved. There is so much more to a sound than meets the eye or ear. I applaud the effort that went into both videos. Amazing work.
totally. I listened to the whole of Disintegration Loops during a session of schoolwork, it was a really interesting experience to “surface” (so-to-speak) every so often and notice the difference in the sound. now I can do that with this too!
I keep returning to this. It is without a doubt one of my favorite youtube videos, and one of the most beautiful pieces of ambient music I have ever come across. Thanks for making this. It makes the world a better place.
I know Disintegration Loops was an inspiration for this, but you really managed to capture the feeling of those recordings just as much as the sound. I don't know how I hadn't subscribed to this channel before, but I definitely will now. The amount of work and care you put into things like this is inspirational. Thanks for sharing all this.
I used to try to do this with my Roland Space Echo tape machine. When the original signal was almost completely obliterated, I'd max out the volume and then record it. Sublime.
You know how to have fun, like a little kid with there toys, making the nice castle, that’s what is life all about moments of enjoyment beautiful loop, thanks to bring our feet to earth...
I live in the states.... I would love to do this is an installation piece, where each loop had iconic American media samples.... one being the Bill Of Rights read aloud. As a real time demonstration of the decaying of our so called rights. As I see this as a collaboration between you and Magpie I wouldn’t put this concept up (my family actually owns a gallery with a performance space in a small town in Virginia, if you ever find yourself in my area and want to perform I’d be happy to have you). Either way, You have both been an inspiration to me over the past few months as I artistically reinvent myself… Long story. So thank you both for the inspiration I just wanted to share the idea, and to say thank you… Which I’ve said several times now...so I’ll end this here…
Thank you Joshua! You can of course put this up and develop it further. You are proposing a different, important content. Part of why I am sharing all the techniques is to further the art.
I keep coming back to this recording. I am listening to it almost daily at this point, even if I don't always make it through the entire three hours. It really moves me in a very special way. Thank you for sharing the full version like this. Is the audio available somewhere other than youtube?
Awesome experimentation! I'm working with a Strymon El Capistan, it has a looper with tape degradation an tape aging (emulator of course ) but the results are really amazing. Not many musicians knows how to use it. Keep on the deep music sir!.
This is surprisingly relaxing. Those are some nice simple chords and sounds! Lost track of how many times I've had this playing as a delightful ambience to whatever I'm doing
gee - this is your Götterdämmerung, dear Hainbach! I said it before and I will say it again: you are the true rebirth of K.H. Stockhausen (that guy Steakhausen, as Miles Davis called him...)
Very cool. I wonder what effect could be had by gluing some magnetized filings to paper and passing the tape over it... or running tape past a hair dryer...
I talk about this in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cVy9ABT5-iY.html I was amazed at the resilience, but it's due to the tape I used on two of the loops.
@@Hainbach Cool, thanks very much! I'm such a dummy, It's the first place I should've looked😆. I really like your work, unfortunately, I'll have to buy a cassette or LP next month as I spent all my pennies and bought an RD-9 yesterday.
I've been making some disintegration loops and have been hovering over them too much while they play. Seeing you make a three hour loop is impressive and motivating. Makes me think i should back off and let them play instead of waiting eagerly for them to self destruct
Tascam has double decks that were the DIY standard. no Idea if their newest edition of it is holds true to the older ones or if you have to go second hand.
random generative music ... to take the human out of they equation ( primary settings in the composition are made by you) and funny ... it still sounds HAiNBach e-bach of the 21 century ... toll
Thanks for the upload man...is it okay if I use this for sampling and use in some lo-fi hip hop beats please?I would like to run it through my bastl microgranny and/or through a bastl thyme when I get one....I love the textures of it :)
how very Disintegration Loops of you. das ist gut! EDIT: I should've watched the How and Why video before commenting cause you thankfully mentioned William Basinski! ^____^
I did a similar thing a few months ago, but I was using some badly maintained and barely working consumer level tape players playing into each other and recording from each other. The signal degredation happens really fast this way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Wfz179LK6Q.html
