To me winding the watch is part of the experience that also reminds me that I've got a beautifully made mechanical watch and is also therapeutic in a way 👍🏻
It is surprising how few people check the operation of movement before buying a watch. A manual wind is basically a love affair with a watch, and so you really need to enjoy caressing it daily!

Snagged a 3861 SS to celebrate turning 30 and after having owned other omega, Rolex, GS and zenith… I really think this thing is special and a timeless design. I think having to wind it every day is actually pretty cool. When I see someone else wearing a speedy, they’re usually a fellow watch enthusiast unlike every time I’ve mentioned digging someone’s Rolex in public.
TLDW: Doesn't find the winding experience enjoyable, too expensive, doesn't like how people say that you need a Speedy to round out or complete your collection. 🤣

For the same price than a Speedmaster sapphire in Canada running with basically the same movement architecture that was used half a century ago, you can get a Breitling Chronomat with the excellent B01 automatic chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical clutch. On top of the 200m water resistance, 70h power reserve and date complication, it is quite baffling how people still fall for the trap of the romantic tales of an event that most collectors either don't remember or were not even born to witness. And on the secondary market, the Chronomat is actually trading below the Speedmaster, goes to show you that it is often more important to build a brand than a watch.
How accurate is the watch, so far my experience with manuals is that the watch will always be off by the end of the next week and you must recalibrate the time.
It really is subjective and makes me wonder why you bought it with all the things you don’t like with it. The price is not something that you’d spend on for something that you don’t like, at least for most of us working class. Most of the things you disliked about the speedy are what makes the speedy a speedy. Hesalite and manual movement was part of the requirements of NASA (If I’m not mistaken). This watch, as it is, saved a bunch of astronauts from drifting into space.

Unless you guys just throw away $6k to swallow the same “marketing bullshit.” I would imagine before you part ways with your money, you know what your getting into. Unless you just bought yours for the fad- and then realize you bought one for the wrong reasons. Like when someone adopts a dog and realize all the responsibilities that come with one.
It’s a shit watch if you forget about the name and made up History. Scratchable glass, 50 meter water resistant, price, winding… the only good thing I see in this watch it is a strap monster.
I strongly disagree, fit and finish are unmatched, the name whether we like it or not is relevant for arguably everything we buy, there’s a sapphire version that is scratch resistant, 50 meters more than enough for us non divers, price, please name a Swiss made in house mechanical chronograph that is less expensive, it will be hard I think. The winding is part of the Speedmaster, I understand why it might bother you though, also bracelet and clasp are excellent as well. Another very subjective point is the design, I personally think that the Speedy is one of the best if not the best designed Watch ever. Enjoy your watches in good health.

The 'you have to have a Speedmaster in your collection' is a crock that needy weak Omega guys say in order to seem important and relevant 😆 They need more guys in 'their gang' as they have zero self esteem. Moon landings and James Bond lol Need I say more? Real men would be more interested in Omegas fantastic Olympic legacy!
