I'm 52 years old and still bumping to this in 2024!! Who is still bumping to this jam in 2024!! #realmusic #thebeginningofhiphopRaandB 😊 #theremixgeneraition
That's the line I quoted here in my way too long review as well. Yes the content of his words is great, but boy, I'll be if it is not more quotable and does not stick in our minds because of how fuckin great he delivers those lines. It's as if he punches, tucks, pops and rolls those syllables across the beat, but it's so blended in the mix perfectly, it just skiffs atop as it soaks in. Aurally, it's almost like percussion in itself, but then it's also quite its own thing. A lot of the brilliance in this song has to be also how they recorded records back then, the tones are so warm and there's so much color to the sounds. Just...yeah, dope.
Big Daddy Kane. ATCQ De La Soul. Naughty by Nature. Pete Rock and CL Smooth. 3rd Bass. Public Enemy. KMD. Cypress Hill. EPMD. Kool G Rap. Eric B and Rakim. Queen Latifah. Jungle Bros. Black Sheep. ONYX. Black Moon. Etc...
It's a few rapper that had they own style of rapping but had to switch up to go mainstream and keep up with the times it's sad you can't express ya self music wise that WHT I think the be dressing all werid
The '80s were an artistic Golden Age in practically every medium, and Hip Hop music led the way. We took it granted. We thought this was normal, we though it would always be this way, we really did take it for granted.
As a New Yorker (Brooklynite) back then, we were very territorial when it came to Hip-Hop. We were always hesitant about rappers from outside the city but EST couldn't be denied! I remember my crew grudgingly saying "yo...this dude is a monster!" 33 years later, this remains true. EST is the first great lyricist from Philly (from our perspective). #RespectTheLegends
EST and Schoolly D, both from Philly, were monsters back in summer 88/89. #facts On the female side, Bahamadia dropped one major hit "Funk Vibe" around the same time. >>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kYrEl5gHiS0.html
Everybody's talking about how great Hip-Hop is in New York, Los Angeles, Oakland, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, New Orleans and they should, but Philadelphia should be mentioned under the same breath as well.
So here we are on this beautiful Saturday afternoon Oct 14th 2023. I’m still listening to this timeless work of HipHop artistry! The world is very different now cause this new style of hip-hop Is absolutely worthless!! I wish that they would bring REAL Hip-Hop back!!!😩❤
Haha. This was my favorite joint when it came out. Aye, the bar was high though. Ice T had 6 in the morning. Public Enemy. Whodini!, Fat Boys, Kurtis Blow and of course the legendary Sucker MCs by Run DMC. It was a whole lot of good stuff back then.
@@ajtowin 80scwas great, period. Even up to mid 90s. But 80s andcearlyv90s kicked ass !!!!! I really miss those day a lot. No one does anything like we did it then. Internet is the blessing and the curse.
@@zeagazetotsiyon2942 we lucky to have been 18 in 89, from Stezo to the D.O.C. and everything in between KC Flight, Redhead Kingpin, KGR, King Sun, PRT, Special Ed, Gang Starr "Manifest" , Slick Rick, ect etc, we was lucky asf 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
I came out in 88 can't remember if this dropped late 88 or not but we bumped this constantly ...yes I still play CDs and yes I have this on a couple mixed cds...3 X Dope had it going
I'm 45, this still one of my favorites, and the best song they did imo. I wish 3×D lasted longer than they did. They'll always be remembered for this one.
EST can't fight like Holyfield but Holyfield can't rap like EST. But yeah they resemble each other. They should do an ancestry test. They probably are related in some form and fashion.
Classic sample, classic wise rhyme, classic song!!!!!! One of my fav groups in 80s for rhymin, samples n songs!!! Peace to Philly!!! Females still got this mentality 32 years later!!
I was 11 when 3x Dope was out. Living in South Jersey, Philly hip hop was right in our back yard-Hilltop, Cool C, Tuff Crew. White kid who loved hip hop-I even had a bootleg 3XD Shirt from Cowtown, NJ. I’m 44 now-miss this music and those days. Respect to EST, Chuck Nice and Woody wood
Smooth Hip Hop!!! No half naked women…just smooth story-telling lyrics over tight beats and samples. Then we could go to Criminal Minded (BDP) and Guy for R&B wid Groove Me. What an era!!
Was in 7th Grade when this dropped. So So So Honored to grow up during this Time Period. Will never be another time like this again 😢. Fly Cut, Fly Gear, Fly Crew,Fly Dance Moves, Fly Music, and Fly Real Ladies ✊🏽✨
