This is the trout mothership and it didn't disappoint. I got an invite from my neighbour, telling me we going to this notorious trout dam call thrift and i yes yet without knowing much about trout fishing but very eager to give it a shot. To my surprise i had the most luck out of anyone. But, it wasn't just and the fish the whole trip in general with the gents we met and with the amazing scenery it was a trip to remember. There are some massive fish at Thrift. Some of the bigger fish chaff right through 7 X leaders Get your selves float tubes. My friend and i spent 3 days at Thrift and caught 58 fish and got chewed off by a few fish using 7X leader. The fish are super big, fat, wild and very Healthy, nice.

I was one of the first guys to ever fish Thrift back in 1994...its not the sort of venue that needs a smart cottage..its wild and should stay that way..too many " commercial" trout venues across the country for the lads that need a double bed with aircon...

Howzit Gary. Gee that's awesome, must be quite a special feeling still being able to fish it. I only recently found out about the dam and gave my solid review about the place. Definitely didn't mean it needs a smart cottage, I couldn't care less about that, I was just saying some upkeep on what there is wouldn't be such a bad thing. Cheers

Really bru? It must be a sight to see when it full ey. Will definitely be returning when they gets some rain and I'm sure there will be a lot more action then. How has your experiences been at Thrift? Assuming you've fished there.
